Compared to being able to send and listen to songs 0 times with a Zen or Ipod.

they dont have anything on the toshiba gigabeat 60gb video mp3 player, picks up radio stations came with a cable that can transport the video on the mp3 player to a tv through the av jacks. uses windows media player to add songs to it this thing is simply amazing.

Ipods are designed only to last for 2 years, the batteries suck in them. You watch one video and your battery is drained, and after a year it will break and they force you to buy another one. So i would go with something other than the ipod, and i do know that someone here is going to say that im so wrong and they have had their ipod for 4 years and it still runs 100% but the majority of ipods suck.

I have to give the nod to iPods. I've never seen an iPod break but I've seen countless Zens have to be replaced. Anybody I know who used to own a Zen now owns an iPod.

Zen's are just as easy if not easier...they have a program that opens and you open the folder with music, click, drag to you Zen, and thats it...there's no different formats for the music files...plus I'm pretty sure you might be able to use RealPlayer to put music on it? maybe not but theres another program or 2 that you can use to put music onto them...and the battery life is better on Zens...I've had a Zen for like 3 years and dropped in countless times and nothing has broke, needed to be replaced, and nothing has stopped working on it...plus Zens are generally cheaper for the same features/players that Ipod offers...I'll take a Zen anyday

I wouldn't trade my 80G ipod for anything. I don't care about the short battery life. I'm more than willing to pay however much a battery replacement costs every so many years. Having that much music at my fingertips is like a service.

I have owned both the Zen Vision M and the Zune.

I had the Zen for a year and a half when it wouldn't go past the loading screen. I had the extended warranty from Best Buy who didn't even look at it and gave me store credit. I was going to get the Zen again [I love Creative Labs, they are a premier sound company] but BB was out of stock on them. I bought the Zune [Figured if I didn't like it I could return it within 2 weeks and get the Zen again].

The only thing I didn't like about the Zune was a had to RE-RIP my entire collection on Windows Media Player with copyright protection off which took a while...

IF I had to do it all over again,

Creative Labs Zen Vision M > Microsoft Zune > Apple iPOD

My buddy Andy is on his forth iPOD at the moment, and another friend of mine has had it playlist deleted multiple times on his phillips gogear jukebox....I actually don't think his phillips even works anymore...

i'd take anything over the ipod if i was actually spending money on it. itunes is hands down the worst program ever created for transferring or purchasing music. on that basis alone, the zune and zen are better players.

further, did someone whine that you can only listen to a zune transferred song 2-3 times and then it locks?!?! THAT'S IN THE BLOODY MANUAL. it's not "hidden". it's not an unknown feature. it's advertised that way. jesus.

I don't know what IPod you got, but I have one from 5 years ago (one of the originals) and though I've beaten it up and the battery life is deflated a bit, it works like a charm. If one can work, they all can work. Most don't suck. So there you go, someone has corrected you.

You can't beat the IPod Video, flat out. Price is decent now, and it is awesome.

Yes it sucks. I have a question about it though. My friend's computer was messed up and he did a system restore. Now he wants to put the music from his Ipod back onto Itunes, but there doesn't seem to be anyway to do it. Is there truely not a way to do that or am I just stupid?

there is no way to do that with itunes (98% of why i hate both ipods and itunes). you have to download 3rd party software to do it which isn't, as far as i know, illegal, but likely does violate your TOS with Apple.

I hate that. I don't see why they won't let you access the music folder. Is there an actual reason for that because almost any other mp3 player will let you. He has like 20Gs of music on there too.

i would imagine they're a) assuming you bought it all via itunes, in which case i believe you can just re-download it and b) don't want you to use anything BUT itunes and thus make it very difficult to access music off-line in any other way.

i find it funny that for all the people screaming bloody murder over microsoft being a monopoly, there are an equal number of people praising apple for essentially the same business practices.

I have a gigabeat. I like it. I especially like laughing at my friend when he has to convert all his movies to put on his Ipod and I dont have to change a thing. The AV cord is handy too. Also snuff you can play any MP3 in a car, hell you can play walkmans through car stereos anything with a headphone jack, if you have a tape deck.

Nah, my last computer crashed and I went through hell trying to get HP to fix it. So I finally got them to just send me a new computer. It's a better model, and it came with Vista, which I thought was a good thing. Come to find out my Nomad doesn't work, I can't get Azureus to work, and I recently got a new printer as a gift which came with a disk that won't work with Vista either. I'm not sure whether to blame the Azureus problem on Vista, or my recent switch to Verizon fios. I think it may have something to do with the router, but I know nothing about computers, and every thing I've read on the net about it hasn't helped. Seems there are a ton of people out there having NAT problems with Azureus. Anyway, yeah. Vista makes me pista. It's like a shiny new car that you can only drive to the edge of town. The engine cuts off as soon as you hit the freeway. I feel like driving the piece of crap off a cliff.

njx9
03-28-2007, 09:20 AM
not surprised.... most legacy hardware is still barely supported, if at all.

the azureus bit should be an easy fix: in your router's instruction manual, you should be able to find an easy way to open a port (or collection of ports). open one in the 65k range somewhere (to avoid potential software conflicts). then direct azureus to use that one. as long as you keep windows firewall off (it shouldn't realistically be on anyways) or re-open the same port there, everything should be gravy. i had the same problem for a little while.
