According to the complaint, Hurd told an undercover operative that he wanted up to 10 kilograms of cocaine and a half ton of marijuana per week "for distribution in the Chicago area."

I'm shocked, Sam Hurd is the last person I would expect to be doing something this dumb. MOTH will be disappointed.

He has a $4 million contract, but that's paid out over 3 years.

Unrelated to his contract...maybe he was trying to capture some of that Michael Irvin magic.

Hurd allegedly negotiated to pay $25,000 per kilogram for the cocaine and $450 per pound for the marijuana. The complaint says that Hurd "further stated that he and another co-conspirator currently distribute four kilograms of cocaine per week in the Chicago area, but that the supplier could not supply him with enough quantity."

Hurd hit authorities' radar in July when a confidential informant told police that a man was attempting to obtain four kilograms of cocaine for an unknown buyer in the Dallas area. That man was later stopped by police with $88,000 in a canvas bag. He said that the car and the money belonged to Hurd. Police confiscated the money, and Hurd later contacted authorities trying to get the money back.

Pretty shocking in my opinion, not that anyone else really cares. He's also on the Tebow level with his outspokeness with respect to his faith. Not to mention he just had a baby girl not too long ago.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/12/15/hurd-accused-of-arranging-multimillion-dollar-drug-deals/

1. Hurd told an undercover agent Wednesday night that he was looking to buy ”5 to 10 kilograms of cocaine and 1,000 pounds of marijuana per week for distribution in the Chicago area.”

I'm drooling....ah....I got to hold one pound one time and that was epic. 1000 pounds....a week....

2. Hurd negotiated to pay $25,000 per kilogram for the cocaine and $450 per pound of the weed. So Hurd had the cash flow to pay for $575,000-$700,000 worth of drugs per week. That’s well over $2 million per month. (We’ll let you imagine how much he was bringing in.)

The NFL was Hurd's side job.

6. This wasn’t a small operation. Hurd only dealt with “high level” deals; a co-conspirator handled more day-to-day stuff. Hurd allegedly had business as far away as California and had a fleet of vehicles.

I'm pretty sure we had Tony ******* Montana on our team.

I'm both amazed and stupefied.

At least he has one of the better attorneys in the country.

Hurd’s agent, Ian Greengross, did not respond to requests for comment. His attorney, Encino, Ca.-based Brett Greenfield, also could not be reached. Greenfield, a former Colorado State football player, has represented other professional athletes in the past and also successfully defended two members of the Hell’s Angels motorcycle club against attempted murder charges. His law partner, David Kenner, was the attorney for gangster rap music label Death Row Records and successfully defended rapper Snoop Doggy Dogg against murder charges.

Cowboys defensive tackle Jay Ratliff had to be separated from ESPNDallas.com writer Calvin Watkins on Thursday when Ratliff didn’t appreciate the line of questioning.

Watkins is a well respected writer that has worked at the two major papers in town. He reportedly asked Ratliff about former teammate Sam Hurd’s arrest for drug trafficking and the conversation “quickly went South” according to Mac Engel of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Apparently he was moving 2 kilo's a week and the NFL and the Bears are scared stiff, he wasn't the only player involved.
I also heard, when he was arrested, he was about to increase his volume to 3 or 4 kilo's a week.
This is a very scary process for the NFL. This could turnout to be the biggest scandal in pro football history and who knows how many players and/or staff were involved. There is no way that Hurd alone had access to that type of money, to run the whole thing on his own.

I hope this continues to escalate, and it lives to my expectations.... I want it to blow away the Penn State & Syracuse media fests.

Sam Hurd, Roy Williams, and Marion Barber all fled Dallas for Chicago this summer? When the players had a lot of time on their hands....

The most interesting part of all of this....Hurd seems to be big enough of a drug lord to be distributing heavy weight...Meaning other NFL players could possibly be re-distributing..If that's the case "The Shield" will take on a whole new image (let the photoshopping begin)

Love the speculation on who the buyers could be...Let's throw Ryan Mallett out there just to stay consistent with what we've all already said about him within the last year

Definitely agree with Dez, shoe-in

That's a real stretch, but it still makes perfect sense if we're all really looking to dig into this story...
