I have a feeling it will be one of these three.

It won't be Peyton or LT because they're both under contract with different games.
I think they go with Drew Bress, an injury prone player that almost ceritfies a coninuation of the "curse"

whatabout Champ Bailey?
Very, very unlikely. However, he'll be 29 so that's one thing going for him. Ray Lewis, Donovan McNabb, and Shaun ALexander were all 29 the year they were on the cover.

What is so unlikely about that? Champ is probably a top candidate.

Because neither Manning, Brees, nor Tomlinson have been on the cover. They would be contacted before Bailey.

I think there is a good chance Champ will be on the cover. Every year they introduce a new feature and the cover athlete usually plays the position that uses it. Example: Shaun Alexander - Running controls, McNabb - QB Vision, Ray Lewis - Defensive Playmaker, etc. They haven't really had any improvements for DB play. Same with DL.
I think if it is a Defensive player it's gonna be...
1. Champ Bailey
2. Shawne Merriman
3. Ed Reed

I hope it is Champ because Madden is awful when you try to take control of a DB and make a play on the ball. Please make this the year of he DB!

the hard part is not taking control when the ball is in the air, rather the fact that you cant be a corner and play man for the entire play, and the fact that the computer is always faster than a human controlled player.

If Josh Brown is on the cover, I will buy a copy for everybody on NFLDC
EDIT: Same goes for NCAA cover and Stanback

This is Jason Taylor's last season. They usually like to pick players who are on the rise or in the prime of their career.

Different games?
Also since NCAA and Madden usually get the same features and NCAA is gonna have Zabransky, I think it favors either a QB or trick play specialists person. I'll vote Brees but I think...Reggie Bush could be the guy

it will definitely be all about the new "features" ea put desmond howard on the cover of the heisman one, now zabransky on the leadership thing, theyll probably do some leadership thing like ncaa and have manning

Oh wait thats what its about, I forgot.
My suggestion would be to designate a different player for each region in the US
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i235/deranu4/maddenmap.jpg
In the Midwest Manning
Northeast Ed Reed
West LT
Southeast Drew Brees
Southwest Roy Williams
North Nick Barnett

I would also allow for a Matt Millen, Williams Clay Ford, Charles Rogers, or Wayne Fontes cover . . .
I am surprised you Vikings fans wouldn't prefer a cover with Demitrius Underwood.

I say either Joseph Addai, Marques Colston, or Mr. Ryans from the Texans.
Those seem to be the three most proming players this year at their postion.

I really think it will be Champ Bailey for sure someone on D maybe Jason Taylor that would be kinda cool.
I'll put in a vote for Champ Bailey. Or Ed Reed. Or LaDainian Tomlinson.

for real, how come? Is it a part of an endorsement or sumn?
It's probably Manning's contract with Microsoft, having been the cover man for their former NFL Fever game, although it's been some time since that deal was penned.
As long as he and any other member of the Colts don't show up on the cover of Madden, I'm glad. I want no part of that bad magumbo.

If that's the case that means it's likly to be a WR ex: Ocho Cinco,Marvin Harrison,TO or maybe even Gates

LT then Manning then Brees, LT broke TD record and points record and some other records, Manning won the superbowl and got MVP and has some records of his own, Brees has maybe one record but is on "The new america's team" because of hurricane Katrina. I'd like to see a special teamer like Bush or Hester, though it could be a DB like Reed or Bailey, LT is probably the first approached

i was thinking that right before you said it. That would make sense, Ill put money on Urlacher that sounds like a winner.

i agree with it being urlacher fits the formula well, plus i would be willing to bet it will at least be a defensive player

I have a feeling that it will be a Wideout like others have stated. Which one? Probably the most marketable, which is Chad Johnson. He would be a fine cover athlete. Don't you think?
Peppers, Taylor or Bailey...
Chad Johnson is on another EA game so he is not going to be on madden
