RaiderNation
01-09-2012, 01:26 PM
Picks 1-24 are now set after Wildcard weekend, and some changes have been made to my mock. Some new prospects added again to this mock, so look out for them. As always questions and comments are welcomed.

I’m also going to add in some F/A predictions, especially important for the QB needy teams…

Free Agency Predictions:

Miami Dolphins- Matt Flynn(3 Year Deal)
Flynn could start right away for the new Head Coach, and has some decent weapons and a strong defense surrounding him already.

Seattle Seahawks- Jason Campbell(2 Year Deal)
Campbell has a good chance to start over Tavaris Jackson who struggled this year, and newly drafted Ryan Tannehill (you will see below)

Kansas City Chiefs- Kyle Orton(2 Year Deal)
Orton decides to stay in KC and battle with Cassel for the starting job, and I think Crennel gets the full time HC job.

Round 1

1 Indianapolis Colts- Andrew Luck QB Stanford*
Luck will be drafted by the Colts, but Manning’s future is in question with the Polian brothers gone.

2 St. Louis Rams- Matt Kalil OT USC*
The Rams really need to upgrade along of the trenches and Kalil is the best LT prospect since Jake Long from the 2008 draft.

3 Minnesota Vikings- Justin Blackmon WR Oklahoma State*
Blackmon had an outstanding final game that will really help his stock, and potentially this stagnant offense if he is drafted to the Vikings.

4 Cleveland Browns- Robert Griffin III QB Baylor*
McCoy will likely be in Cleveland for 1 more season, but RG3 is too much to pass up here for the untalented Browns.

5 Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Morris Claiborne CB LSU*
Ronde Barber is old and this defense is really playing bad, and Claiborne could be a shutdown CB.

6 Washington Redskins- Tyler Wilson QB Arkansas*
Wilson can make just about every throw with his great arm, and landing in D.C. with Shanahan could help develop his decision making part of football.

7 Jacksonville Jaguars- Quinton Coples DE UNC
Jacksonville needs to add a stud DE to build around on defense and Coples has rare size and athleticism.

8 Carolina Panthers- Dre Kirkpatrick CB Alabama*
The defense is really hurting this Panther team and Kirkpatrick looks to be a Pro Bowl type CB in the NFL.

9 Miami Dolphins- Vontaze Burfict ILB Arizona State*
Miami needs another playmaker at LB besides Wake, and Burfict is relentless and can potentially play ILB or OLB in the 3-4.

10 Buffalo Bills- Michael Floyd WR Notre Dame
Stevie Johnson’s future could be in jeopardy this off season and Fitzpatrick could use a big target like Floyd.

11 Seattle Seahawks- Ryan Tannehill QB Texas A&M
Seattle was a starting QB away from being a Wildcard contender, and Tannehill could potentially come in and battle for the starting job.

12 Kansas City Chiefs- Luke Kuechly ILB Boston College*
The Chiefs will likely keep both Cassel and Orton for next season, so upgrading the ILB position next to Derrick Johnson is a good idea here.

13 Arizona Cardinals- Jonathan Martin OT Stanford*
Kolb needs to be protected better if they want him to be a franchise QB, and Martin can excel in pass protection.

14 Dallas Cowboys- David DeCastro OG Stanford*
DeCastro is good value here for the Cowboys, who need to keep Romo healthy if they want to start winning.

15 Philadelphia Eagles- Dontari Poe DT Memphis*
The Eagles need to start stopping the run better, and Reid could draft a guy like Poe to clog holes inside.

16 New York Jets- Trent Richardson RB Alabama*
The Jets were rumored to like McFadden coming out in 2007, and Richardson is similar value wise and I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Jets trade up for him in the top 10(A team like Washington could trade down here if Wilson doesn‘t declare).

17 Cincinnati Bengals(f/OAK)- Janoris Jenkins CB Northern Alabama
Jenkins can come in right away for the Bengals and replace Nate Clements who is a back up caliber player now.

18 San Diego Chargers- Whitney Mercilus DE/OLB Illinois*
San Diego needs to add a stud pass rusher if they want to regain control of the West, and Mercilus was dominant this year at Illinois.

19 Chicago Bears- Riley Reiff OT Iowa*
Cutler needs to stay healthy if the Bears want to be a playoff team, and Reiff and Carimi can get the job done at the OT positions.

20 Tennessee Titans- Alshon Jeffery WR South Carolina*
Britt should hopefully bounce back to near 100%, but the Titans need to get more weapons anyways on offense so Jeffery makes sense here.

21 Cincinnati Bengals- Lamar Miller RB Miami**
The Bengals need a young RB to develop behind Benson, and Miller has the explosive speed to compliments Benson’s power.

22 Cleveland Browns(f/ATL)- Kendall Wright WR Baylor
With RG3 already drafted, the Browns could really use his teammate Wright here and he will fill a huge hole at WR.

23 Detroit Lions- Nick Perry DE USC*
Cliff Avril could leave in F/A to a big contract, so the Lions could replace him here with Nick Perry.

24 Pittsburgh Steelers- Alameda Ta’amu NT Washington
Casey Hampton could be cut this off season to make cap room and his play has diminished, so Ta’amu could be an instant plug in the start lineup at NT.

25 Denver Broncos- Fletcher Cox DT Mississippi State*
Denver’s defense stepped it up once again in the 2nd half yesterday, but adding some depth and talent like Cox could be a good option at this pick.

26 New York Giants- Zach Brown OLB UNC
The Giants need help at LB, and Brown will be able to use his athleticism to compliment the good dline rotation in front of him.

27 Houston Texans- Mark Barron DB Alabama
The Texans defense has played outstanding this year, but Barron could improve the secondary by playing some FS and SS.

28 Baltimore Ravens- Mike Adams OT Ohio State
Baltimore needs a LT to develop for the future and Adams is the type of prospect the Ravens would draft here.

29 New England Patriots(f/NO)- Peter Konz C Wisconsin*
New England has 4 picks in the first 2 rounds, so they can draft many needs and Konz could be a Nick Mangold type pick up.

30 San Francisco 49ers- Alfonzo Dennard CB Nebraska
The secondary could use some depth and Dennard could contribute early for this improving 49er team.

31 New England Patriots- Courtney Upshaw DE/OLB Alabama
Upshaw may be a tad short for the Patriots liking, but he would really fill a hole for the defense at OLB.

32 Green Bay Packers- Vinny Curry DE/OLB Marshall
Green Bay hasn’t produced as many sacks as last year, and they could try to improve the pass rush with a productive prospect like Curry.

Round 2

33 St. Louis Rams- Devin Still DT Penn State
The Rams are desperate for DT depth and Still can help the run and pass defense.

34 Indianapolis Colts- Kevin Zeitler OG Wisconsin
With Luck now in town the Colts could start rebuilding the oline here with Zeitler.

35 Minnesota Vikings- Zebrie Sanders OT Florida State
Sanders can be a major upgrade at LT for the Vikings, who need to keep Ponder healthy next year.

36 Tampa Bay Buccaneers- LaMichael James RB Oregon*
Blount was inconsistent this season and the Bucs could use a explosive playmaker like James.

37 Cleveland Browns- Melvin Ingram DE South Carolina
Sheard has played well for the Browns, but adding another young DE like Ingram could really improve this defense.

38 Jacksonville Jaguars- Mohamed Sanu WR Rutgers*
Gabbert didn’t show much promise at all at times this season, and he could really benefit from having a big WR to develop with here like Sanu

39 Washington Redskins- Dwight Jones WR UNC
If Wilson ends up in D.C. he will need some good weapons and Jones could give the Redskins some size at WR.

40 Carolina Panthers- Jerel Worthy DT Michigan State*
The Panthers help the defense again here with Worthy, who can be a factor in the NFL if he plays consistently.

41 Buffalo Bills- Ronnell Lewis DE/OLB Oklahoma*
Merriman got hurt again and the Bills really need a pass rusher at OLB, and Lewis can do that if he pans out.

42 Miami Dolphins- Brock Osweiler QB Arizona State*
The new Head Coach could like bringing in Flynn on a 3 year contract and then drafting Osweiler here to develop could be another smart thing to do.

43 Seattle Seahawks- Brandon Thompson DT Clemson
Carrol could use a young run clogger to continue adding young depth in the front 7, and Thompson fit’s the need.

44 Kansas City Chiefs- Kelechi Osemele OT Iowa State
The Chiefs need to replace Richardson at RT, and Osemele can potentially play right away for KC.

45 Dallas Cowboys- Chase Minnifield CB Virginia
Dallas has to get some help in the secondary this off season, and Minnifield has the genes of a Pro Bowl CB.

46 Philadelphia Eagles- Cordy Glenn OG Georgia
Vick got hurt once again and it is time for the Eagles to really sure up the oline, so Glenn could be potential starter at all the OT and OG positions.

47 New York Jets- Bruce Irvin OLB West Virginia
With Richardson coming in to improve the offense, the Jets could draft Irvin here to give Rob Ryan a talented pass rusher

48 New England Patriots(f/OAK)- Jeff Fuller WR Texas A&M
Tom Brady needs a WR with some size and down the field ability, and Fuller could really develop into that role well in New England.

49 San Diego Chargers- Levy Adcock OT Oklahoma State
Rivers needs to play better and Norv knows this, so giving him some better protection here with Adcock could help this team.

50 Chicago Bears- Dwayne Allen TE Clemson*
Martz is now gone, and Cutler could ask for a better target at TE like Allen who could end up rising into the 1st round by April.

51 Philadelphia Eagles(f/ARI)- Audie Cole ILB North Carolina State
The Eagles need some depth at the LB positions, and Cole has shown this year he is a legit NFL player.

52 Tennessee Titans- Andre Branch DE Clemson
Tennessee could use another DE in the rotation and Branch has really improved his stock this season.

53 Cincinnati Bengals- Robert Lester DB Alabama*
Adding another young talented player to the secondary like Lester could really put this defense over the top.

54 Denver Broncos- Stephon Gilmore CB South Carolina*
Champ Bailey doesn’t have many more years left and Gilmore could be developed before getting a lot of playing time.

55 Atlanta Falcons- Nate Potter OT Boise State
Matt Ryan needs his blindside to be protected better, and the Falcons to look at Potter here as an instant upgrade.

56 Detroit Lions- Casey Heyward CB Vanderbilt
The Lions could use more talent and depth at CB, especially when you see the teams they play in the NFC North.

57 Pittsburgh Steelers- Brandon Boykin CB Georgia
Pittsburgh’s secondary needs some young depth and Boykin fit’s the type of player they want at CB.

58 New York Giants- Andrew Datko OT Florida State
Datko will likely need to sit for some of the season, but the Giants could use a high risk/ high reward type OT here.

59 Houston Texans- Ryan Broyles WR Oklahoma
TJ Yates could be the QB of the future for Houston, and adding another WR like Broyles could end up helping this team down the line after he returns from his injury.

60 Baltimore Ravens- Dont’a Hightower ILB Alabama*
Baltimore can go in many different way here, but Hightower could be brought in to develop as Ray Lewis’ replacement.

61 New Orleans Saints- Lavonte David OLB Nebraska
The Saints could use a LB like David, who can play side line to side line and impact in all 3 facets of the game.

62 San Francisco 49ers- Juron Criner WR Arizona
With Edwards now gone, the 49ers could opt to replace him with a WR like Criner who has similar size to Edwards.

63 New England Patriots- Derek Wolfe DT Cincinnati
Belichick continues to improve the defense here with Wolfe, who can possibly be a sack artist at both the DT and DE positions.

64 Green Bay Packers- Jared Crick DT Nebraska
Cullen Jenkins has been missed this season in Green Bay, and they could look to replace him early with a productive player like Crick.

I like the Cowboys first two picks here. Minnifield has a nice pedigree and DeCastro helps bolster the interior line which needs help badly.

Whitney Mercilus or Melvin Ingram over Jenkins
Zach Brown over Miller
Chris Polk over Lester

Would be alot better draft for the Bengals.

After watching your guys game on Saturday, I thought it was obvious the Bengals really need some secondary help. CB and SS are the area's that are needs and I think both Jenkins(who profiles as the type of prospect the Bengals usually draft) and Lester could be instant plug in type prospects.

I love the first round for the Patriots, but the second round leaves much to be desired. Jeff Fuller is an awful reach there imo. Gilmore, Lester or Boykin would all be better selections imo. Wolfe is very tempting, but I just don't see him being effective in a 2-gap 3-4. However, I need to see more of him before I'm certain of that.

If you watched that game then you noticed the Bengals could not pass rush with out rusing 7 or more players. A Pass Rusher or Interior OL is by far the biggest needs after watching that game. Teams could just Double team Atkins and Dunlap and then they have all day to throw. A constint Pass Rush makes any secondary look good.

The Bengals need more pass rush and the secondary would be better. Yea we could use a corner and a safety. The Bengals have 1 DE on the their roster that can pass rush. Hall is coming back next year and Nate Clement is not that bad when he does not have to match up against speedy WRs. corner could be delayed to the 2nd round or lower. If the Bengals draft a Safety it will more then likley be a SS not a FS because they like what they have in Nelson and Lester is a FS.

Tyler Wilson has yet to declare and will most likely return to school for his senior season; his footwork is a mess and Wilson could really benefit from another year with Petrino. Vontaze Burfict in the top 10 is insanity; which GM is going to put their job on the line for someone like 'Taze? Poe to Philadelphia makes some sense but is a reach of at least one round; how about Jenkins, Reiff, or Ta'amu there? Feel free to write my obituary on SWDC if the Jets land Trent Richardson. Whitney Mercilus may not be athletic enough for a 3-4; probably more of a 4-3 defensive end. Maybe try flipping Mercilus and Perry; Perry is more of a 3-4 outside linebacker prospect. Peter Konz falls way too far in your mock; Tennessee would be a nice landing spot. Mike Munchak loves offensive linemen and Tennessee may shy away from drafting someone with character concerns after their issues with Young, Jones, Britt, etc. Konz and Upshaw would be amazing for New England. Jeff Fuller would be nice but the Patriots have traditionally not gone for big wide receivers. Derek Wolfe does not have the ability to two-gap in a 3-4 defense so he's probably not a good fit there.

DT is far from a 1st round need for us. I'd take Jenkins, a WR, or Zach Brown if the board fell that way.

I dont like Burfict to Miami. I'd rather go with Floyd at that point, or trade down and take an OLB. However, the 2nd round is quite interesting

Pretty much this.
I dont see us taking Jenkins at all.
I dont see Marvin passing on all three of the top pass rushers in this draft.

i actually think wilson will declare and i do think hell end up a top 10-15 qb. i still think we trade up for rg3 but if we can't/don't then i wouldnt rule wilson out.

RaiderNation

You're drunk if you think Richardson falls to 16.
Did you not read the pick description? I'd predicting the Jets will trade up for Richardson, plus RB's have been falling in the last few drafts so I wouldn't be surprised to see Richardson slide a few spots even though he is a top 5 prospect.

I dont like Burfict to Miami. I'd rather go with Floyd at that point, or trade down and take an OLB. However, the 2nd round is quite interesting
You guys locked up Marshall not too long ago and I think there are far bigger needs than a #2 WR. Burfict is a slight reach, but if he reaches full potential he can be the Ray Lewis of Miami. That's hard to pass up at 9. Also I can see a OLB but I don't see the value there.

Tyler Wilson has yet to declare and will most likely return to school for his senior season; his footwork is a mess and Wilson could really benefit from another year with Petrino. Vontaze Burfict in the top 10 is insanity; which GM is going to put their job on the line for someone like 'Taze? Jeff Fuller would be nice but the Patriots have traditionally not gone for big wide receivers. Derek Wolfe does not have the ability to two-gap in a 3-4 defense so he's probably not a good fit there.

With Barkley, Jones, possibly RG3 and all the young guys all set to be in the 2013 draft, Wilson might opt to come out early since he will be advised that if he has a good pro day/combine he could easily be a top 15 pick. I like Wilson more than Gabbert last year. I disagree, Poe's value IMO is in the top 20 and the Eagles could go with a run stuffer like Poe there since it is known Reid loves drafting dline early. Konz has the ability to go anywhere from 20-32 I agree, but I can't see the Titans relying on Nate Washington and a hurt Britt as there top 2 WR's next season. For some reason I really like Fuller in your offense, and with McDaniels back he could tell Belichick to go after a big WR(Randy Moss excelled in McDaniels offense and he drafted Demaryius Thomas while in Denver). What DT/DE prospect(s) do you think fit the Patriots 2-gap? I have had a hard time finding out who could fit and it seems like the Patriot posters on here do to because you guys haven't told me this whole season who could fit....

Give me Mike Adams in the 2nd over Hightower. Hightower just really doesn't fit into our system

I see your reasoning behind not giving Miami Floyd at #9, but I also don't think you know how badly Miami is lacking playmakers on offense. We need a legit playmaker across from Marshall because when you look at the top passing attacks in the NFL, they are 2, 3 and even 4 deep at that position, and Hartline is simply not getting it done as the #2 especially when you consider we don't use our TE's that often. Regardless of how you feel, a #2 WR IS a big need for this team.

As far as Burfict goes, yes he is a reach, and yes if he lives up to his potential he could be a stud. But ILB simply isn't a 1st, 2nd, or even 3rd round need for this team. We have Dansby as a stud at one ILB and Kevin Burnett played well enough at the other spot this year that it makes this a non-issue, especially when you consider that they are pondering moving disappointing former 2nd rounder Koa Misi inside as well.

The only PRESSING need for Miami, as far as a top 10 pick goes, is a quarterback, and if we sign Flynn, then I think it has to be BPA. And in my opinion there, that is Michael Floyd.

As for Osweiler in the 2nd round, if we do get Flynn, do you really think a team picking in the top 10 has the luxury of taking a second young quarterback in the 2nd round!? Who are we, the New England Patriots? No. Pass rush help is needed much more. Give us Bruce Irvin there instead.

Yet in your own mock draft you have Jenkins and Brown being drafted by the Bengals. How can you blast someone else for having us draft Jenkins when you draft Jenkins too!

That was before i had to watch the Bengals play Texans in the playoff game and watch TJ Yates have 10 mins to throw the ball when bringing 4 man rush.

I could dig it that KC draft. Pioli would draft a RT in the second round(that's been the trend anyways, second round center last year or third round guard the year before). I really think KC could use help in the defensive trenches though. Kelly Gregg is probably retiring, J Powe is probably a rotational player(at best) but the other Powe from Memphis might be someone to watch out for. Oh, that and apparently Dorsey or Tjackson can't rush the passer.
But, if we did draft Trent Richardson, it'd be pretty sweet. I usually just look at what KC drafts and I could definately see it going down like this. Good job man.

I don't think we'll pick an OLB in the first. With Boley looking up the WILL, barring a move to the middle which seems unlikely, and the trio of Kiwi, Jacquain Williams and Jon Goff capable of filling all that we need from the other side of the field it's a middle linebacker that we really need.

I love DeCastro in a Dallas uniform, but not at #14. To me, that is just too high for a guard, despite DeCastro's talent. I know that guards can and do go this high, I just always felt it to be a bit of a reach. If Dallas could drop down 3-5 spots, still pick up DeCastro, get an extra pick, and pick up Minnifield in the second? Well, I'd be very pleased.
