I think you can use wiki if you hit esc before the page loads all the way.

Is it still possible to access Wikipedia in any way?

Yes. During the blackout, Wikipedia is accessible on mobile devices and smart phones. You can also view Wikipedia normally by disabling JavaScript in your browser, as explained on this Technical FAQ (http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/English_Wikipedia_SOPA_blackout/Technical_FAQ%20) page. Our purpose here isn't to make it completely impossible for people to read Wikipedia, and it's okay for you to circumvent the blackout. We just want to make sure you see our message.

You can also just type m.wikipedia.org into your CPU web browser to access the mobile site.

They'll ruin a lot more of your days if it passes. Write your congressman.

This... If one day without a few sites stops this legislation then the world will be a better place.

Quit bitching.

The bitching on social networking outlets is both hilarious and appalling.

I in no way have any expectations for this, but Facebook/Twitter should join the blackout. People would flip absolute ****.

But that is how you spread the anti-SOPA/PIPA information.

Frankly, this is awesome. I wish we could talk politics in here, because I have quite a bit to rant about regarding this.

I'm going to echo some people here, but one day of without this stuff is far better than an eternity. Contact your congressmen, these bills need to be shot down.

The only thing that gets me is the high schooler who sees this on TV or when visiting the sites, and all of the sudden becomes the patron saint of internet ethics while making his life mission to imform the masses of what he just found out 5 seconds ago.

Same. This has been making me feel helpless all day. I signed the petitions I could and all that...but yeah, old men in congress trying to pass laws on something they know nothing about.

Thankfully, SOPA hasn't even made it out of committee yet and after the shitstorm it caused, the chairman of the committee has said that it won't make it out without major revisions.

And PIPA is losing sponsors. I imagine it won't pass the Senate if the sponsors of the bill are dropping out of it.

But we're doomed. We may win this battle but this is a war we'll lose eventually.

Just hope it happens when my arthritis is too bad for me to actually use the internet.

This is the type of action that leads to revolt. When you start trying to oppress people and take away their freedom you are in big trouble as a government, this is different to a place like China where they have never experienced freedom and a majority don't even know they are being censored, this is going after some of the most educated people and trying to stop them being able to express themselves...

It's an entirely dangerous and unconstitutional move but ultimately the people behind it are those people that control the government and eventually they will get what they want, all this will do is make it take a bit longer and cost a bit more.

If Facebook/Twitter put up an equivalent of any of the other anti-SOPA/PIPA articles/information in place of its entire website for an entire day, far more than enough would know about it, and be pissed off.

Although I'd be fair assessment that the majority of active profiles on those accounts have some kind of information about SOPA in their news feed, that doesn't mean that the account holders are reading them. I personally doubt for instance many teenagers have clicked and read a link.

But even if it didn't shut down the site, just something simple but unavoidable in the news feed, top bar, etc. would also easily help.
