American Idol; Serious Business.

Humiliating the kid and ruining some stupid reality TV show is much more entertaining. Why take the time? Because I can. Besides, the fact that people are getting so butthurt about the entire thing is what makes it all the more entertaining. That's what the show is supposed to be about, right? Entertainment. And I find this whole thing to be entertaining.
And no, it won't be canceled. Fox is still making it's money. Hopefully, the same thing can happen next year. Then maybe they'll start loosing viewers, if the people who actually care about the shows favorite people get kicked off. I doubt this movement will last though. This dude we're on right now is the perfect pony. I doubt there will be anyone like him on it the future seasons.

What can they really do though? If they do something, the show looses just as much credibility as it does if he wins. People have been voting for him. In large numbers. They risk alienating a large portion of their audience...all be it not necessarily the audience they were targeting...it's still adding to the show. Their making just as much money off of these people as anyone else.
Unless they pay Sanjaya off to make him go away(I can picture the speech about how people are hunger striking and he's just an entertainer...blah blah blah...) then theres not much they can do.
