View Full Version : The How Are You Gonna Waste Money This Valentine's Day Thread

Anyone got any good ideas? I've been toying around with a few, but i think i've settled on what i'm doing. Every female wants flowers valentine's day but i think it's a god damn scam (as if everything else wasn't, right?), a dozen roses is ~$70 on vday, so **** everything about that. If i'm gonna waste that kind of coin, i'm gonna get her a "flower" arrangement, but of fruit!

These things are the bomb, my sister gets them often and they're delicious.

www.ediblearrangements.com

Might make some chocolate dipped fruit or something else cliche. What are the enslaved, err, married, men doing for their old ladies?

My wife is not big on flowers or candy. A night away from the kids by going out to a movie and a nice dinner suits her just fine.

Sadly for my wallet, i have a very girly/romantic gf that loves all that sappy stuff. We're gonna skip dinner since all restaurants will be jam packed and she works all day, so i'll just use that for whatever i'm getting her.

Getting a prostitute and role playing like we are college sweethearts destined to be together forever. Dinner... Dancing... Sweet sweet love making... Than chopping her body up and arranging the pieces in a heart shaped pattern only recognizable from an aerial view. You know, the usual.

Haven't decided yet, might get some flowers, but I was also thinking about an edible arrangement, and will probably end up choosing one of those as long as they aren't too ridiculously priced, as well as dinner.

If you get her an edible arrangment beef is what's for dinner.

Most flower arrangements go a long way to resulting in beef dinner, I've never bought one of those edible ones, but yeah, I do think it will result in some serious brownie points on my end, lol.

I thought about a card, but decided against it. First of all its kinda cheap (and I'll probably leave some sort of note in the edible thing I get her), second, and any of them are either cheesy or overly romantic, and since we just went out once so far, neither type of sentiment would really be appropriate, IMO. This way I can write what I want, which is a huge plus for me.

Unfortunately my Valentine's Day has turned into Valentine's Days. I'm taking my wife to a Rascal Flatts concert on Friday, so that is expensive. But we are also going to a nice dinner on Valentine's Day. And concert tickets, even though they are expensive, don't count as a gift because women need something tangible so I'm getting my wife a ring too. Probably some flowers too. Although $70 for a dozen is pretty ridiculous. I can easily get nice roses for between $30-40. All in all, I'm probably going to end up spending about $450.

Thankfully, Mrs. FE isn't big into the "hallmark holidays" so there's no expectation of stupid crap. Which is to say, as long as I do something to recognize said "hallmark holiday" exists, I'm off the hook.

My girlfriend and I haven't really ever been big Valentine's Day people. I don't think we're doing anything for it this year, as we're saving to go on a trip in a few months. Blowing a few hundred on chocolate and something else just doesn't appeal to me a whole lot in light of that. Another year, maybe.

...although I might do something to "acknowledge it exists" like FlyingElvis said. Not much though.

Last year I went all out...Flowers, chocolate, a few other things which she mentioned that she wanted...costed like $60...found out that she doesn't expect anything like that. A card would have sufficed lol

This year she is out of the country on a study abroad, and has been since before our 2yr anniversary and will be back around her birthday. I'm thinking of getting some cheap Bulls tickets as a combination of the three. Win for her since she wants to go to a Bulls game, win for me cause I do too lol.

i hope your kidding. jim beam black is a very good bourbon. its absolutely nothing like normal jim beam and is probably one of the top values in bourbon on the market. jim bim black is aged eight years leading to darkened floral notes, and turning the light, creamy body thick and mellow. you could snag some nice woodford reserve for a slightly higher price but for $18 bucks give or take you cant beat jb black.

Singles only ay? Sounds like free poon to me...Just target a girl you've known for a little while and feed her "I've been meaning to tell you this for awhile but the timing just hasn't been right... Here it goes (deep breath) will you be my Valentine?" Boom instapussy, next time you run into her give her a line about how the chemistrys just not there.

I wasted (basically) nothing, and got a little something... Quite the solid, low key day. I was relieved when she told me she didn't care about valentines day, so we ended up going on a little drive for a while and then went back to her place and chilled out for a little while and then screwed around, basically until I decided it was time to go home. Still don't really care about valentines day, and no one else really should

Yes, it's a joke. It's also a good litmus test for the emotional IQ of a person you are with. If they get all worked up about it, be careful, they are likely emotionally equivalent to a 12 year old hormonal girl.
