I'm fairly sure you're not serious, but if you are serious, well deal with it.

Yeah im joking. Cant remember why i even wanted Peterson though lol.

scotty, i'll trade you Ryan Taylor for a 7th round pick? Special teams demon and decent tight end...

SuperPacker
02-27-2012, 10:08 AM
Oh yeah BB, once we've completed the draft will we have a time to make some more cuts to trim down my roster to 53?

BeerBaron
02-27-2012, 10:11 AM
I'm not worried about roster sizes, but more cuts will be acceptable and then we'll do the 3rd round of FA including UDFAs which I have not yet come up with a good method for.

I recall someone mentioning a "point system" that might work. I'm thinking of limiting everyone to 8-10 UDFAs and giving everyone like 30 points to spend on them. You'll get the top 8-10 guys on your list and ties will be broken based on 2011 record.

BeerBaron

Imagine if my draft was like this...

First round: Dre Kirkpatrick, CB, Alabama
Second Round: Whitney Mercilus, DE, Illinois
Third Round: Kelechi Osemele, OT, Iowa State
Fourth Round: Juron Criner, WR, Arizona
Fifth Round: Chris Rainey, RB, Florida
Sixth Round: Quentin Saulsberry, C, Mississppi State
Seventh Round: Jerry Franklin, MLB, Arkansas

I think that looks pretty good. Good group of players at positions that help me out.

So if I could get all of them as well as 6 later picks, then I'm going to do it. And that's what I did.

I wonder if it'd be possible to trade down so much that you end up with every pick in the 7th or something like that.

Even if you had the ammo to do it, this is not possible because you can't trade Compensatory picks. But Unbiased could trade four of his six sixth round picks to Minnesota, Seattle, New Orleans, and Seattle and end up with eleven 7th round picks.

Arizona State LB Vontaze Burfict ran unofficial forty times of 4.93 and 5.10 at the NFL Scouting Combine.

According to Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic, ILB Vontaze Burfict spent most of his Combine media interview "playing the victim" while reporters asked questions about his on- and off-field problems.

Looking like he is going to fall to r3 r4.

I didn't pay attention to him until this year, which is when he started to really get hype. And then I saw a guy that takes bad angles, has bad instincts, can't control his weight, doesn't play fast, and acts like an idiot. His sophomore year must've been a lot better because I have not seen anything worth hyping from him.

Exactly, and it isn't like his junior tape is anything to sniff it. He had some great games.

BeerBaron
02-27-2012, 03:20 PM
I think I caught about 4 or 5 Arizona State games this year and saw him benched after two personal fouls in half and making about as many impact plays as I did last year.

About the only time you hear his name is after he does something stupid.

I don't deal with moronic, undisciplined players to begin with. Thrown in a godawful all around combine performance and I say no thanks.

Clady Beadles Walton Kuper Sanders
I'll definitely upgrade the guard spot because Kuper is coming off of injury. In fact if anyone wants to trade future picks for a guard hit me up. Franklin as a backup OT is pretty good. He and Ryan Harris are one of the better pairs of backup Tackles around. Also, receiver is looking good. Jones and Thomas on the outside, Decker and Page inside. Mix in some John Carlson and my run game and Tebow or Hoyer have a good supporting cast for years to come.

What the hell kind of position description is this?

An accurate one. He's played pretty much every position in the front seven. He came to Nevada as an LB, was moved to DE and back to DT and played both in both fronts. Then in the Shrine game, he played OLB. He's been one of the most productive defense lineman in college football the last two years but is the ultimate tweener but should be able to find a spot for him somewhere in our 34.

Hmm, I'm not sure which QB I like less, Case Keenum or Kellen Moore.

Does Keenum have a stronger arm than Moore? If so, Keenum. Easily. Moore's arm isn't even strong enough to hold up a clipboard.

His floaty passes will get eaten alive by NFL defenses. Here is what I expect to happen with Moore:

He'll go undrafted or be a very late draft pick. Then, he'll impress with his intelligence by picking up the offensive system really fast and look good in training camp and in the preseason against scrubs.

Then, if he sees regular season action, he'll bomb. Horribly. Like Max Hall a few years back for the Cardinals...UDFA who mastered the system quickly and earned his way into playing....then it became clear that he utterly lacked the physical tools to even be on an NFL field.

There is a bare minimum required level of arm strength to be able to throw anything other than screens in the pros. Kellen Moore does not have that. I'm not even entirely sure that Colt McCoy has it.

killxswitch
02-28-2012, 11:27 AM

Kellen Moore is far and away the most unathletic prospect I've ever seen. If I saw him on the street, I'd think he was 16. No joke. I've seen kickers and punters with more muscle mass then Moore.

Keenum>Moore. I'd rather take my chances with say, Aaron Corp though. Or if I'm going for SUPER GRITTY BACKUP... Harnish>

BeerBaron
02-28-2012, 11:35 AM
I thought about giving them Harnish or Corp. But the Giants have Eli and signed Charlie Batch who is as old as ****. The guy played with Barry ******* Sanders.

So I gave them Keenum who could develop into Eli's long term backup. If he's lucky, he can be this generation's Jim Sorgi.

I got tired of texting people. Plus it's the 6th round, if you were planning on getting a game changing starter at this point then you're delusional.

Plus Perriloux sucks. Giants fans always talk about how complex Gilbride's offense is and that it takes so long to learn....and Perriloux is a moron. He'll never learn it.

You guys are lucky I was generous with the cap:

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/02/28/cap-could-be-lower-than-expected/

It's expected to be about $5 million lower than our estimate here was.

I know Moore sucks, but Keenum is just as small, almost as nonathletic, his arm is just barely better (like saying banging Kevin James is "better" than banging Drew Carey), his mechanics are atrocious, and he has injury issues. I have a hard time deciding which one sucks more. If either of these two guys ever starts a game, the coach should be immediately fired.

Nobody pick Justin Francis, he's our 7th round pick. you can kinda just pencil that in there.

Yes, because one exception in the hundreds of 6th round picks that never become anything clearly wins you the non-existent argument I just made up.

It's like people saying that a short QB can succeed because Drew Brees does. No, he's an exception to a pretty obvious rule. If there wasn't some sort of disadvantage to being a 5'11 QB, we'd see more 5'11 QBs.

Plus Brees actually has pretty good arm strength and utilizes his throwing lanes well to avoid batted passes.

Drew Brees can throw a ball harder with his left hand than Kellen Moore can.

Yeah, I realize that. Just making fun of people who say you don't need a first round QB because Brady went in the 6th and Warner wasn't drafted. Or when doing these forum mocks and someone says "Dammit, you stole my guy." (although I actually said this too). If you really liked him that much, you would have taken him three rounds earlier.

Haha, if I remember correctly I said something along the lines of he's the most likely candidate to be a starter but there may be some competition. A 7th round rookie is far from a lock to beat out Schmitt.

BeerBaron
02-29-2012, 08:06 AM
But it's a FB. That's practically like drafting a kicker or a punter. If the guy is drafted in any round, he's likely to make the team. Otherwise you don't draft one.

The eagles drafted Stanley Havili in the 7th round last year to compete with Schmitt but he turned out to be abysmal. This would be that same situation, but with a better all-around guy. Schmitt was very solid last year, but not quite good enough to not give some competition.

Matthew Jones

Can't wait to see the rules for UDFA! Still a bunch of quality players available. I would suggest something like a list ranking your UDFA priorities in order, and whoever has the player ranked the highest would get them. That prevents teams from hoarding all of the top UDFAs. Say two teams put in claims for Jacory Harris; one team had Harris ranked third, while another had him ranked fifth. The team that had him ranked third would claim him. That would introduce a level of strategy in regards to how low teams thought they could rank players in order to safely claim them, with a maximum number of claims.

BeerBaron
02-29-2012, 08:19 AM
Well, here's the preliminary plan. Haven't gotten around to posting it officially yet, so I might still make a few alterations. Whatever I posted in the timeline thread will be "official."

Teams will have 30 "UDFA points" to spend on up to 8 UDFAs. You'll submit your list of however many UDFAs you want, plus a point total next to them. Whoever offers the most points gets the player. You'll get as many players as you want until you're out of points or you've signed 8 players.

If two teams bid the same amount for a player, draft order will be used as a tiebreaker. (Like if the Colts and Giants both bid 5 points for a guy, the Colts would get him.)

If you don't want to sign any, you don't have to. If you only want 1 guy and want to use all 30 points on him, fine. If you want to send a list of 30 players all with 1 point offered, fine. (Just remember, you'll only get your top 8.)

Seem reasonable?

Indeed. Anyone still on the FA list can still be signed. There are still some guys out there who could make an impact. I've updated the list...sort of half assedly...but I think I got all of the signed players marked now.

I'll do a re-evaluation of each team's cap situation and post a list of the best FAs available before that reopens.

Wayne followed Peyton (as may happen IRL) and the two will have different roles. Meachem as the deep threat and Wayne as the route running guy to take advantage of the coverage Fitz draws.

So they'll share #2/#3 duties depending on the situation.

At least that's how I viewed it my head when deciding.

I like the pick, thanks.

I think if you have more than one pick in a ten pick block and you time out on one of them, you time out on all of them. Get this **** moving BB!

I have to leave. STL doesn't seem to be picking. Give me Rishard Mathews if STL doesn't pick him. If they do then just give me somebody.

Sweezy... I know you picked him based purely on his name Deep.

Really BB? You had to give them Mathews? Don't think Colts will be too happy about that.
