The Raiders have informed SS Tyvon Branch he will be hit with the franchise tag, according to a league source.

Branch, a fourth-round pick by the Raiders in 2008, has been a full-time starter the past three seasons, starting 48 consecutive games.

The franchise tag value for safeties is expected to be $6.2 million in 2012, down from $8.8 million in 2011.

Also rumors of Kamerion Wimbley likely next to be cut since he won't restructure. C Samson Satele will be let go in F/A as well, likely meaning Wisniewski moves to Center.

What's funny is the Raiders only save 4+ million for cutting Wimbley, who's due to make almost 11 million. They still take a 6.5 million cap hit for cutting him. Maybe they work something out.

4 million can go a long way. No chance he makes 11 mil next year from any team though.

Micheal Huff gets cut?

I think he stays, much cheaper than Wimbley and is by far our best secondary players on the team. Huff likely will play more CB in the new defense, pairing with youngsters DVD and Chekwa and likely a F/A(Tracey Porter please?).

If Wimbley is gone that all but seals us drafting a pass rusher somehow this year, I really hope we can somehow get a into the 2nd round to get a DE/OLB, maybe trading a player(DMC?)
