View Full Version : What happens to Gregg Williams?

With all the speculation swirling around the Saints and Gregg Williams, I couldn't help but wonder what kind of penalty he will get for the bounty probe and, more importantly, how it will affect the Rams as they get started in their new regime. My guess is he gets a 4 game suspension and Fisher just runs the defense in his absence. He will probably get a hefty fine as well, but that won't affect the team.
Another thought came to me...just how much of his effectiveness as a coach was due to the bounties? Will he still be able to build the kind of defense like he has in the past? I'm thinking this whole thing is blown out of proportion and we will be just fine.

I doubt very much, if any, of his effectiveness as a coach was due to the bounty system. I havent heard any reports of there being bounties for dirty hits, just hits that injure players. If a hit is completely legal but injures someone thats just part of the game and good solid football IMO.
What worries me is that Goodell/media (they dont have anything else to report on atm) will blow this way out of proportion and bring a heavy hammer down on Williams to make him an example to the rest of the league.

So it turns out that a documentary filmmaker blew the whistle on the Saints. This is an audio clip of Gregg Williams giving a speech to his defense before they played the 49ers in the playoffs this season. I'm still having a hard time believing he actually said some of these things. I doubt he coaches again.
