Here's what we are looking at availability wise:

1. ATL- Saturday (Afternoon/Early Night)/Sunday (After 5)
2. Maninblack- Anytime (before 5 preference)
3. Deep- Saturday/Sunday (Anytime)
4. TBW- Any time but Sunday Night
5. Brodeur- No one cares
6. Xio- Anytime (Saturday afternoon/night preference)
7. Irish- Sunday (After 8)
8. Docta-Saturday/Sunday (Afternoon/Early Night)
9. DUnit-Anytime
10. Asdf- Saturday (All Day)/Sunday (Before 6)
11. Hines- Sunday (Early)
12. Notredame- Sunday (Night)

The way I'm seeing it it looks like Saturday (1-4 EST range) is probably best. That or Sunday night. Either way, a few are going to have to do boards/auto draft if we'd like to get this accomplished this weekend.

So if anyone doesn't mind an auto draft or has input on a time, whatever, post now.

TheBoyWonder22
03-21-2012, 02:52 PM
My other draft turned out to be Tuesday night so I'm good.

Docta
03-21-2012, 05:02 PM
Too early on Saturday. I could do 5-6 EST. If I'm going to miss the draft, then I'd just drop out. Better for the league.

ATLDirtyBirds
03-21-2012, 05:44 PM
People are going to miss the draft regardless if we want this done this weekend. I'd be fine with 5 EST on Saturday. We just need an answer.

Notredameleo
03-21-2012, 05:48 PM
Whatever you guys decide. I'll make it work out.

mqtirishfan
03-21-2012, 05:49 PM
If the draft is Saturday, I'll make sure I get my pre-draft rankings done for autodraft.

ATLDirtyBirds
03-21-2012, 06:01 PM
So if we go with Saturday at 5 EST time, it looks like Irish and Hines would most likely be the only ones to miss.

To be fair though, Hines doesn't fit into the other time range of Sunday night either.

5 EST works great for me. If you need me to set up an Autodraft I Could do that too.

TheBoyWonder22
03-21-2012, 07:51 PM
Oh my god **** off. Could a mod remove that?! Also Saturday at 5 is perfect.

Xiomera
03-21-2012, 08:07 PM
Sunday night is Mad Men's premiere. Draft can't be there, haha.

Xiomera
03-21-2012, 08:07 PM
ATL, you better get the league created on Yahoo. All of us gotta register prior to the draft.

ATLDirtyBirds
03-21-2012, 10:32 PM
I'll get it set up tomorrow. Saturday at 5 it is.

ATLDirtyBirds
03-22-2012, 09:01 AM
DUnit dropped... I PM'ed Hawkeye123 who was interested, hopefully he still is. I'm going to create the league right now.

Xiomera
03-22-2012, 09:16 AM
I'm here for the time being if we need to discuss any of the league settings.

ATLDirtyBirds
03-22-2012, 09:18 AM
I'm at work, so I'm all good to talk. I just set it up, and will get you in as co-commish now.

League ID: 158498
Password: BatemanBison

Also, everyone make their team name your user name for the time being. Change it post draft if you'd like.

Xiomera
03-22-2012, 09:29 AM
OK, I'm registered.

ATLDirtyBirds
03-22-2012, 09:50 AM
Also, if anyone has input on the roster configuration, feel free. I think my changes to default were that I added a 4th OF spot, an IF spot, and an extra SP and bench.

Hines
03-22-2012, 10:08 AM
I registered and will not be able to make the draft.

TheBoyWonder22

I like what you've done so far. I would recommend changing one of the P slots to a RP spot since we've added holds as a category.

Change the Weekly Deadline to Daily — Today instead of Daily — Tomorrow.

Agreed on the top.

What do you mean by the 2nd part and where can I locate this? Or you can just go for it if you can.

Xiomera
03-22-2012, 10:46 AM
I just changed that second part. What it's referring to is when you're allowed to change your lineup. Under Daily — Tomorrow, your lineup locks in for the next day at midnight. Daily — Today allows you to change it if you learn someone is getting a day off when team's release their lineup cards.

Xiomera

Some of the playoff settings are worth looking at. I think if we're gonna have divisions, the winners of them should get the top 2 playoff seeds. It's not currently set that way.

I also think we should re-seed after each playoff round.

But do whatever you think is right. It's not a big deal.

Yeah, sign up.

ATLDirtyBirds
03-23-2012, 01:35 PM
I believe Irish just has to sign up. Then if TRICH still wants in, I can get you out TMIB since you didn't want to be in if you weren't live drafting.

Xiomera
03-23-2012, 02:58 PM
I appreciate the interest of everyone in this league, but if you can't make the draft time tomorrow, it really makes no sense for you to be in the league.

There's a direct correlation between interest and activity in Fantasy Baseball and drafting a team of players you want and like.

It looks like most people are going to be there. Probably down Hines and Irish. themaninblack will be replaced once I get confirmation from TRICH.

I'll set my pre-draft rankings accordingly. There's only so much I can do about working during the draft.

By all means, be in the league. That's absolutely fine as long as you'll stick with the league if you're not overly thrilled with the auto-draft results.

ATLDirtyBirds
03-23-2012, 07:17 PM
Hopefully TRICH PMs me in time as tmib didn't seemed thrilled about rankings.

TheBoyWonder22
03-23-2012, 07:35 PM
When will you know the order?

ATLDirtyBirds
03-23-2012, 07:37 PM
When will you know the order?

It's random and done by Yahoo. You'll find out when you enter the draft room, which I believe opens 30 minutes before.

Xiomera
03-23-2012, 07:43 PM
Alternatively, ATL and I could rank you all in any number of ways to determine the draft order ...

TheBoyWonder22

The 12th overall pick goes to Brody.

Xiomera
03-23-2012, 08:02 PM
3rd through 11th is a 9-way tie.

ATL and I flip a coin for 1st pick.

Xiomera
03-24-2012, 10:08 AM
I made a couple tweaks to the league settings. Moved the trade deadline back 1 week, and moved the playoffs up 1 week — they now end with 10 days left in the season. This avoids all the goofy things that happen at the end of the regular season (like top starters not making their scheduled starts for various reasons).

TheBoyWonder22
03-24-2012, 10:34 AM
So of course on the day of I find out I wont be able to make the draft. Well I'll try, but I'm not sure if my phone can run the draft app or whatever so we shall see. I'll update my positional limits and rankings and it'll be like I was always there.

I dropped themaninblack since I got confirmation from TRICH. He just needs to register now and I can finalize the list. Hopefully he does in time.

We currently have an odd numbered amount of teams so we'd be fine if you'd have to drop out.

Unless T-RICH still wants in.

See this is how crazzzzyyyyy DeepThreat has made ATL's league. If you want order in this league, DeepThreat must be made below and I will be given Joey Votto. Oh and every day he doesn't, people will die. I'm a man of my wordddddd.

He said he did. I don't really have a problem with people auto draft as long as they don't ditch the league, as Xio said.

The fate of Joey Votto is in the hands of the gods. Or Yahoo randomization.

I'm interested to see the draft results from here if someone could print screen them. I am doing a draft for a similar league on Monday and my baseball knowledge is mediocre at best.

We're not changing any of the stat categories.

It makes no sense to use walks for pitchers. You don't use a negative counting stat. Otherwise it'd be to your benefit to use less innings to get less walks. And then hits wouldn't be accounted for. WHIP is a good indicator.

Well, you could say the same thing about ERA...

And if you use less innings, then you get screwed in Ks and QS. Hits don't even have to be accounted for. It doesn't matter how many hits you give up if you don't give up runs in the process.

How does this differ from walks then?

The point of WHIP is that it combines them both. Just using one or the other makes no sense.

Walks are at least in the pitcher's control. Hits are 50/50, and can be affected by defense.

WHIP can be flawed, as explained here: http://baseballguys.com/2012/03/19/aba-the-new-whip/

EDIT: And speaking of hits, what about OBP + SLG instead of AVG + OPS?

Dude, we already did the draft. Not only is it impossible to adjust stat categories post-draft, it's also wrong given that people drafted under the established parameters.

It's nice that you appear to like more advanced statistics, but this is fantasy baseball. That's not how it works.

The sign of a good, fair deal! Haha. I actually meant to have Bourn in there instead of Pence as asdf and I discussed. We had gone back and forth on putting Pence or Bruce in the deal (in addition to Bourn), but my mind was just mush at that point, so I made the mistake of giving him both with no Bourn.

After the deal, I'm looking at:

C- Santana
1B- Hosmer
2B- Ackley
SS- Tulo
3B- Moustakas
IF- Ike
OF- Stanton
OF- Duda
OF- Bourn
OF- Crawford (Trumbo until CC's healthy)
Util- Mourneau/Encarnacion

SPs: Felix, Lincecum, Wainwright, Garza, Liriano, Holland

I can dig it.

Unjustifiable. You don't give away that much value without making any effort to get fair value.

He is NOT that desperate for a middle tier closer. It's the goddamn preseason still. You don't win the league with a prefect team from Day One.

Forgive me, but I'm already completely turned off from the thought of taking this league seriously. I feel like I'll be combating ridiculous trades all season long and this isn't worth my time.

Hines, you admit you proposed a deal knowing you were being ripped off?

How can any one of us accept that? It ***** with the competitive balance of the league. Just because we're not knocking down your door offering you trades (it's PRESEASON, mind you), doesn't mean you are permitted to panic and do stupid **** like this. Why are you even in a fantasy league if you're admittedly sabotaging your own attempts to win?

ATL basically said what I meant. He and I will talk more. I didn't panic, just needed to fix a hole I have with my team. I've seen Betancourt ranked differently other places as well.

I could move Michael Young to 3B and have Cuddy or Murphy play 2B.

Chill man. The deal didn't go through.

Chill man. The deal didn't go through.

I'm aware it didn't go through. It's not about one deal. It's just annoying as hell when an owner identifies himself as an unbelievable chump and knows he's ripping himself off, but does it anyway.

A league is only as good as it's worst member.

Murphy isn't even ******* close to being a starting caliber 2B in a 12-team league.

The difference between Murphy and Wright is ENORMOUS.

The difference between Betancourt and the guy he'd replace in your lineup, Frank Francisco, is tiny.

You're losing the value differential on a colossal scale. There's no way you could argue otherwise.

You can look at any ranking in existence and every goddamn one would tell you David Wright should be drafted rounds 4-6 and Betancourt WAY, WAY outside the top 150 or so players.

It's a liability to have someone in the league who is willing to ignore such an absurd discrepancy.

Acquiring a closer helps you in ONE category — Saves

Sure, he'll have a good ERA and some strikeouts, but those can be acquired in equal quantity with any decent setup man, of which there are a ton of guys to pick from (and they'll come at a tenth of the cost).

But when you trade a player like Wright, who makes significant contributions to every hitting category and at a level far and away better than an average free agent can, you lose across the board in hitting.

That's why top 40 hitters are ALWAYS more valuable than even the best closer in baseball.

You would have hurt your team in 6 offensive categories for the sake of improving ONE pitching category.

The deal didn't go through. It's done and over with. Let's move on from it. It was a dumb trade and it got vetoed. That's the end of it.

I'm really confused.

I actually meant to have Bourn in there instead of Pence as asdf and I discussed. We had gone back and forth on putting Pence or Bruce in the deal (in addition to Bourn), but my mind was just mush at that point, so I made the mistake of giving him both with no Bourn.

^. We had worked out the deal over PM, I just made the mistake when proposing the deal. Since it was my fault I told him he could hold onto Pence if he wanted, or he could offer me Pence for Bourn and I'd honor it...

Man, we've got some suckers in this league.

No. There should be, but I didn't see a setting for one anywhere.

Minimum innings is 25 per week, which might end up being raised. That's only like 4 starts a week, plus we have relievers.

Wait a second. I found it.

I've enabled a maximum of 5 add/drops per week. Streaming players tends to ruin things.

ATL, if you disagree with this, we can discuss an alternative, but I'm gonna go ahead and make the change.

I find it difficult to invest too much in this league. We made rosters too shallow for a league with daily lineup changes. I regret that.

I've never done a H2H league for baseball, either.

These divisions look way, way lopsided ...

I'm in 5th place in my division and would be in 1st place in the other division.

Why do we have them again? They have no purpose.

Small sample for now, but it runs deeper than that. Two teams in your division don't even set their lineup. They still have players on the DL in their starting lineup and never make daily changes.

Tough to pick out inactivity before it starts. I thought we fielded a pretty solid group of users.

Oh, **** Yahoo! I put Strasburg in as a starter yesterday and it didn't take. So much for the 8 strikeouts he got today that would have earned me the win.

Edit: Oh well, as long as Anthony Bass doesn't get rocked and picks up one strikeout, I'll get it anyway.

I would be active but I'm on my iPad and every time I try to set the lineup it takes me back to the date of the first Marines A's series and I have to go day by day in order to change lineups. I'm getting a new computer and then I'll make the comeback of a lifetime.

I don't have any problems.

I do know that if you do an add/drop, it'll revert your lineup to whatever it is currently if that differs from what you pre-set it for on future days.

I didn't really do anything to my lineup or roster for close to 2 months, then discovered I was in the finals and tried to adjust in time. No luck.
