View Full Version : We Will Mock You!!! -4U2NV's Final Mock-

04-26-2012, 03:44 PM
Tried to get this up earlier but have been busy with work for the last few days, as a result the comments are lacking and I didn't have time to dive into the point sytem to elaborate on the trades. For better or worse here it is:

1. Indianapolis - QB Andrew Luck, Stanford
No surprise here, the Colts end two years of hype by finally making Luck the #1 overall pick.

2. Washington - QB Robert Griffin III, Baylor
Another no-brainer. The Skins' didn't give up the ransom they did for no reason, RG3 becomes the new savior in DC.

3. Tampa Bay (fr. Minnesota) - RB Trent Richardson, Alabama
The first surprise of the day as the Bucs succeed in leap-frogging the Cleveland Browns to select their top rated player. They were aggressive in free agency, I expect them to be equally aggressive in the draft to add the missing piece on their offence.

4. Cleveland - CB Morris Claiborne, LSU
The Browns are stunned to miss on Richardson at the last minute and have to make a quick decision to go with Blackmon or go with the higher rated Claiborne. The eventually stay true to their board and opt for the defender.

5. Minnesota (fr. Tampa Bay) - OT Matt Kalil, USC
The Vikes are happy to be able to receive additional resources thanks the the Bucs and still manage to land Kalil to protect Ponder's blindside.

6. St. Louis - DT Fletcher Cox, Mississippi State
The Rams stun the crowd in New York City by passing on Justin Blackmon on the assumption that they can still find a quality WR at the top of the 2nd and instead add the impressive Cox to an improving defence.

7. Kansas City (fr. Jacksonville) - QB Ryan Tannehill, Texas A&M
A rumor that was slowly gaining steam last week but quickly died out comes to fruition as the Chiefs move ahead of the Dolphins to take the talented, but raw, QB from Texas A&M to groom under Cassel.

8. Miami - WR Justin Blackmon, Oklahoma State
After missing on Tannehill, the Dolpins look to fill their next most pressing need by snagging the top ranked WR in the draft to replace the departed Brandon Marshall.

9. Carolina - WR Michael Floyd, Notre Dame
A somewhat surprising pick, but, Floyd's pre-draft process has been impressive and many people consider him a top 10 talent. With Steve Smith aging, the Panthers look to give Cam Newton a weapon with which to grow with over the long-haul.

10. Cincinnati (fr. Buffalo) - LB Luke Kuechly, Boston College
After losing Keith Rivers in free agency, the Bengals are eager to replace him and do so by moving up in the draft with a team looking to move down in order to secure the most pro-ready LB in this year's draft class.

11. Jacksonville (fr. Kansas City) - CB Stephon Gilmore, South Carolina
Some have speculated that Gilmore is being looked at with the 7th overall pick. Here, the Jags still get their man after getting their way by moving down.

12. San Diego (fr. Seattle) - S Mark Barron, Alabama
Anxious to jump ahead of the Cowboys, the Chargers pull off a trade with the Seahawks to snatch Barron away from Dallas while the Seahawks look to move down after Kuechly goes off the board.

13. Arizona - OG David DeCastro, Stanford
DeCastro will be a great fit on the Cards' O-Line. Guards rarely go this high, but DeCastro has Pro Bowl potential.

14. Dallas - DT Michael Brockers, LSU
Jerry Jones weeps silently to himself after the Chargers select Barron but manages to compose himself long enough to turn in the card with Brockers' name on it as the Cowboys land one of their fall-back options.

15. Philadelphia - DE Chandler Jones, Syracuse
The Eagles secure the services of one of the fastest rising players on the board. Perhaps passing on the athletic freak JPP a few years ago plays somewhat into this selection as Jones' athleticism has scouts drooling over his potential.

16. NY Jets - DE/OLB Melvin Ingram, Sourth Carolina
The Jets don't have the necessary firepower to move up for Trent Richardson but are just as happy to land a player to improve their pass rush. Ingram had long been considered as a top 10 player but gets pushed down the board on draft day where the Jets stop the slide.

17. Buffalo (fr. Cincinnati) - OT Riley Reiff, Iowa
A popular mock draft choice for the Bills at 10 for weeks now, the Bills manage to move down 7 spots and still get a potential LT.

18. Seattle (fr. San Diego) - LB Dont'a Hightower, Alabama
My gut is tellign me that the Seahawks will be targetting a Linebacker on draft day. David Hawthorne is gone and there has been discussions of moving Pro Bowl safety Kam Chancellor to Linebacker. Moving a Pro Bowl player to a different position is risky, this selection allows them to fill a need and keep Chancellor at his natural position.

19. Chicago - DT Dontari Poe, Memphis
A high upside pick for the Bears who would love to add a punisher along either offensive or defensive line. They discuss going with Whitney Mercilus here but Poe's potential is too good to pass up at this stage of the 1st.

20. Tennessee - DE Whitney Mercilus, Illinois
Dre Kirkpatrick is an option here, but pass rushers are always at a premium in the NFL giving the nod to Mercilus for the Titans.

21. Cincinnati - CB Dre Kirkpatrick, Alabama
The Bengals fill another pressing need with this selection. Adding Kirkpatrick and Kuechly to a defence that was the backbone of a playoff team a year ago will be a huge boon for a team on the rise.

22. Cleveland - RB Doug Martin, Boise State
After missing on Trent Richardson earlier in the draft, the Browns fill their need at tailback with the powerful and versatile Boise State Bronco giving Colt McCoy a nice toy to play with while they look to address their receivers in Round 2.

23. Green Bay (fr. Detroit) - OLB Shea McClellin, Boise State
The Packers have heard the rumblings of New England's interest in McClellin and make sure to get the guy they want by swapping picks with the Lions to make it happen.

24. Pittsburgh - OG Kevin Zeitler, Wisconsin
With Hightower off the board, the Steelers add the punishing Badger guard to an O-Line in transition hoping to limit the abuse Ben Roethlisberger takes on a year-to-year basis.

25. Denver - WR Kendall Wright, Baylor
The Broncos surprised many draft followers last year by ignore their supposed need for a DT when they took Von Miller over Marcel Dareus. This year the Broncos are supposedly looking for "impact players" and John Elway doesn't believe their D-Line is as big an issue as others do. Kendall Wright would be sure to make an impact with Peyton Manning at the helm.

26. Houston - WR Rueben Randle, LSU
The Texans' defence has improved by leaps and bounds recently, the offence still needs a bit of work. Andre Johnson is aging and soon the team will need to think of a replacement, but in the meantime, a compliment is still something on the agenda. Randle could be the answer for both.

27. San Francisco (fr. New England) - WR Stephen Hill, Georgia Tech
With two WRs going off the board on back-to-back picks, the 49ers immediately get on the phone with the Patriots hoping to leap-frog Baltimore to take one of the few remaining WRs with a first round grade available. With Manningham and Moss in the fold, it will allow the team to groom Hill without the pressure of him starting before he's ready.

28. Detroit (fr. Green Bay) - OG Amini Silatolu, Midwestern State
The Lions are rumored to be looking at moving down. When the Packers come calling they accpet and still fill a need along their offensive line. However, they surprise by not calling Jonathan Martin's name, but instead Amini Silatolu who some believe can sneak into the backend of the 1st round.

29. Baltimore - C Peter Konz, Wisconsin
With all the top rated WRs gone, the Ravens address their need at Center. Matt Birk can't play forever, Konz steps into the on-deck circle and learns from one of the best.

30. New England (fr. San Francisco) - S Harrison Smith, Notre Dame
Another player said to be an option late in the first round, Harrison Smith fills a need for the Patriots.

31. New England - OG Cordy Glenn, Georgia
For once the Patriots actually use both of their 1st round picks making sure that Glenn doesn't fall to the 2nd round.

32. NY Giants - DE Quinton Coples, North Carolina
Surprise, surprise! The Giants love their pass rushers and take one of the biggest boom or bust prospects available in the draft. Once considered a top 10 pick, his production didn't match the hype leading to a draft day free fall. The Giants are more than happy to add to their stable of pass rushing threats.

I like it...but it doesn't seem like the Bucs will be moving up. Hope I'm wrong but I think we are stuck at 3.
