why 3 special team players gonna draft a long snapper?

I was thinking kick returner. Don't mind either way.

why 3 special team players gonna draft a long snapper?

I think he means K,P,RS so the value of a Randall Cobb for instance is a bit higher.

I'll join this.

We shoulD clarify now what we're drafting towards. Best team for 2012, next 3 years, next 5?

SuperPacker
05-30-2012, 04:44 PM
Just now i'd say. Not taking current injuries into account.

Eg. Adrian Peterson would be fine to pick.

I'm in a pretty **** place actually, the 3 elite QB's will be gone...Do I grab either Manning? Or do I go somewhere else?

I should add, we aren't looking for the future. This is right now, for one season.

Interesting picks here...
I dont mean that negatively either.

As much as I despise the Jets, I have to admire Revis' ability to eliminate an opponent's top receiver in man coverage every week; he makes the game more of a ten-on-ten matchup. Take a look at his coverage statistics from 2011:

35/85 (41.2%), 508 yards, 1 TD, 4 INT, 16 PD, 45.6 rating against

Pretty incredible stuff.

Calvin Johnson would tear Revis apart!

With you picking him, I basically had to pick Johnson.

Matthew Jones
05-31-2012, 02:36 PM
They played each other in 2010; Revis allowed two completions on six catches for 25 yards, with three passes defensed. You may want to consider adding Plan B, or as I call it, Plan Jermichael Finley.

Who was the Lions' QB when they played? Matthew Stafford it was :(

Well...He'll be commanding triple coverage against everyone else!

I'm not sure what Sean Lee is doing in that picture can be considered "coverage", just like I'm not sure that Jermichael Finley can be considered "not the best player in the NFL."

Can I join even though it's late?

Maybe we could find one more person to make it 10? By the way, this topic inspired me to think of a great idea: earlier I was watching Like Mike and thinking about how Bow Wow should re-enter acting in more mature, realistic roles, so I thought I would write a skeleton script for a movie called Like Jermic', where Bow Wow decides he no longer wants to emulate the owner of the most pitiful NBA franchise and instead wants to be an inconsistent, overrated tight end, just like Jermichael Finley. The film could end with Bow Wow finally entering an NFL game and proceeding to drop his first pass. Tears roll down Bow Wow's face as his dream of being Like Jermic' finally came true. Bow Wow is overdue for a re-entry into the public sphere anyways, with the release of Like Jermic', he may even be invited into Carson Daly's RV. I even made a poster for the film:

Revis The New Madden Cover Boy

http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-UiNJNTZEmX0/TsPTdTnNSWI/AAAAAAAACDY/Kg9zpknH89I/s1600/darrelle-revis.jpg

Calvin Johnson, the man who won the public vote and was named the Madden Cover Boy has decided against going on the famous game, amidst fears that his season could be ruined by the 'Madden Curse'.

With Johnson stepping down, the Madden creators have chosen New York Jets cornerback, Darelle Revis as the replacement. It remains to seen whether Revis will be effected, however it seems as though the odds of him having a successful 2013 season may have taken a blow.

Just let me pick. 12 guys in an NFL Draft will be horrible.

TACKLE
05-31-2012, 10:13 PM
Listen, I'm not going to force my way in. I've done an NFL Draft with 12 people and I've done it with 6 people and probably another one with something in between. It wasn't horrible at all with 12 and I actually found it more enjoyable because it's more of a challenge, there's more differences in the teams and isn't just a bunch of super teams that end up being basically equal. Yes I'd like to join and ultimately it's SP's call but if you guys thinking adding another person will make it that much less enjoyable, it's really not that important to me.

I was actually waiting for you to post your pick before I asked about injuries.

We should probably just come to a decision on how we want to handle injuries both for guys who are returning from a serious injury or have a serious injury that will cost them time during this season. That's why it's kind of nice to have it so were drafting over the next 3 years so that stuff is less of a factor.

SuperPacker
06-01-2012, 06:26 PM
Manning's situation is what it is. Hasn't played for a year, is getting old and has the neck problem. Basically, this is him going into the 2012 season, so the injury isn't the be all and end all, but take it into consideration as it will probably effect his play.

Matthew Jones
06-01-2012, 06:32 PM
I'm not necessarily trying to stockpile a team for the future, but obviously I'm going to take age and injuries into consideration while debating who to add to the roster. Two factors which impacted my decision to select Campbell were his age (25) and durability (has only missed one game due to injury.)

I think you may be over-thinking it. Personally I'm choosing based on who I'd pick if I were starting a franchise. Peyton would be a good pick at this point if you ask me, he's an instant offense.

Yes. SP stated current injuries do not count.

Suggs is fine. It's previous injuries that will effect how the player plays which will be taken into account eg. Manning

Mario Williams, Patrick Willis, and DeMarcus Ware? You've gotta be kidding me!
Unfortunately I may not be able to take my 4th guy for a while. I think Rice gives me the freedom to do just about whatever I want with my offense though so I may be able to get even more aggressive on D if you guys steal my offensive guys.

That's understandable. Although I think Rice is the second best back in the league so getting him where I did is still a pretty good value.

If certain players had been taken already, I'd agree, quality running backs can be found later. At the same time, the elite ones are worth easy picks. Maurice Jones-Drew has proven himself capable of being an offense all by himself.

And is also the best route runner in the NFL besides Larry Fitzgerald. Let's put it this way, if the Patriots thought Welker was a replaceable product of the system, they wouldn't have traded a second-round pick for him, awarded him a long-term contract extension, then paid him $10 million for one season under the franchise tag.

There are quite a few quality free safeties out there. Strong safety is where the talent starts to dwindle, but you already got the best one at that position.

Personally, I believe you have to start in the trenches. A good secondary is useless without a good d-line. Top offensive talent is useless without a good o-line.

What I said was that if a player has a current injury, disregard it:

Adrian Peterson
Terrell Suggs

But if someone has had previous injuries that will effect their play, take it into account:

Peyton Manning

So if someone had 4 ACL tears in the last 4 years but is going into 2012 healthy, you have to take them into account.

Right guard is so shallow it was a great pick. If Nicks wasn't picked up right before me I would have gone Yanda. Interior lineman can play pretty much everywhere inside so in this that may not be as big of an advantage as it seems now. We shall see.
