wow so Yost broke his collarbone? ouch..

anyway though I'm pretty bummed about the last cubs game. Without that wind and Sheets getting hurt, we wouldve won it in my opinion. and WOW Spurling got torched. Why dont we get cappellan up here?? I know he's unhappy. bring him up and pitch him.

any word on Sheets? I'm guessing it was more of a precautionary thing than a serious injury..although it could be worse than we think

one more thing...we should release/send down Graffanino and Counsell. not a fan, never was, never will be, ick

Graf and Counsell are just stop gaps until Ryan Braun comes up. If I were a betting man, I'd say by the all star break, Graf is traded, and Braun is being eased in as the everyday 3B...possibly platooning with our new utility infielder, Craig Counsell.

Suppan, regardless of the losses, is IMO the Brewers' pitcher of the month. I know CoCo has pitched lights out and hasn't blown a save yet but Suppan was given a ton of money and has lived up to the billing.

I know Cordero has been lights out but for a starter to be 4-2 with a 2.55 ERA, one complete game, and a 3 to 1 K/BB ratio is phenominal. It's even better after you just dropped 42 mil on the guy and he has all the pressure of living up to that contract on him.

wow. a sweep of the Cardinals. crazy. I don't even know where to start. Carlos Villenueva has gone so far above and beyond what is expected of a long reliever. he won this game for us...and the Cubs game last week monday.

It was a pitch out to Hart stealing second and there was an iffy no-tag call. St. Louis thought the inning was over with the out so Hall scored from 3rd after the phantom tag.

I really expect Dave Bush to come out and throw strikes early and have one of his better starts as a Brewer. The Brewers are winners of 4 in a row while the Pirates have lost 2 games yesterday and had to travel overnight with that on their mind. The pirates will be tired and the Brewers should take advantage of the home grilling.

Brew City BBQ- Very good BBQ, BBQ chicken or ribs will more than satisfy you.

Conejitos-Cheap mexican food, but still good. All white meat chicken mole, 2 beef enchiladas, and extra rice is my order of choice.

Gianelli's Pizza-It has pizza in the name but the cheesteaks are great. My friend likes the chicken philly, but I stick with the regular. It's in Shorewood which is walking distance from UWM. Infact you can take Mayland all the way from UWM to the Capitol.

And of course

You can always check the link reports on the minor league board of Brewerfan.net. http://p092.ezboard.com/fbrewersfandemoniumfrm4 They post the stats and then following local articles from every day's round of affiliate games. The Brewer's prospects have been the source for hope for long beleaguered fans like myself, and I read those threads semi daily for the last few years, and they've been very informative and quenched my thirst.

Also, same sight, the Brewer's power 50: http://www.brewerfan.net/ViewPower50.do

ondeckbaseball.com used to give recaps of the games and notable performances of prospects, throughout baseball, but unfortunately that site is recently defunct. If you want to see unbiased reports and analysis of our prospects v. others, the best you can do might be the baseball america prospect hot sheet: http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/prospects/hotsheet/263867.html

You can also find more info in Daily Dish and the Brewers top 10 prospect on baseball america. Although, most of the rest isn't free.

Here's a couple more:

Hope this helped.

i gotta give Mike Maddux some love. look at Vargas, Bush, Suppan and Capuano. none of these guys were nearly as good as they are now with their former clubs. our pitching as a whole has been amazing so far, and ya gotta give Maddux credit for that.

Koter mentioned Turnbow and he is probably the greatest work that maddux has ever done. He took Shouse in the middle of last year and made him dynamite against lefties and he was able to convert Matt Wise from a starter to a solid option in the bullpen.

1-Prince Fielder gives me wood.
2-So does JJ Hardy..and i think it's only partially because he's a good baseball player...(i think it's the eyes)

i started thinking about that last night when he botched a play in right that cost a run. i think it could really happen. i also really believe Braun would be brought up instead of Nix. they HAVE to be just looking for a way/reason to bring the guy up, and this would really be perfect. they can pick their spots with him with 2 other 3Bs on the roster and see how it goes. if he still needs work, he can go down in favor of Nix.

1. I have learned my lesson. I will no longer question the great Ned Yost.

2. Everybody repeat after me:

I, (state your name) will not freak out if the Brewers lose more than they win in the next week. The Mets and Phillies are good teams (actually, compared to the Nationals, the Nashville Sounds are a good team) and losing a road series to them would not mean the end of all hope for the 2007 season. Teams routinely lose road series (just not the Brewers lately), especially against good teams. We just had a 9-1 homestand. that gives us margin for error.

thank you. please note that saying the parts in parentheses is strictly optional.

3. Get your Brooms out!!!!!!!

4. Geoff Jenkins had 100% of the RBI in 2/3 of the games in this series.

5. RIP JJ's streak.

I was just Emailing my friend about it since he asked. Here are my thoughts about who goes.Fielder will start. There are big names like Pujols and Lee, but none of them are having the years that Prince is. Prince has the most home runs, RBI, total bases, and runs scored, and the highest slugging % among NL first basemen, with a .994 feilding and batting .300. JJ is in the same situation, but Rollins could steal it from him. They will both get in, it's just a matter of if they start or not. They both should, but we'll see. I think that's it for position players. Jenkins is having a very good year, but he doesn't really have any chance. As for pitchers, Cordero is pretty much a lock. He has the most saves in the majors, and is perfect at 15 for 15. He only gave up 4 hits and 1 run for an ERA of .54. If Cordero doesn't make it there is something seriously wrong. I also think that one of our starters has to get it. I expect it to Cappy as he makes it back to back with his undefeated record.

Boston
05-12-2007, 10:28 PM
I'd be surprised if Rollins starts over Hardy. Hardy's got the media on his jock, and that generally is the only thing that influences voters.

I still say if we can get 2 from the Phillies, this will be a successful road trip.

If we can go 500 on a tough road trip, then that is considered a very succesful road rip then, expecially compared to what our road record has been the last however many years

This is going to be a fun series. 330 ft right and left fields? There's going to be a few homers for us, to say the least.

Damn, I leave for a couple innings and JJ gets a HR. Was it a 3-run shot, or how did we get the other ones?

well, this just had to happen. C-squared couldn't stay invincible all year. sucks though. i have to put this on Yost. having Schouse start the 8th was dumb. because it made Turnbow come in with runners on....and ya know he's easily rattled. also, having Craig Counsell try to steal 3rd with no outs cost a run.

either way, lamest game of the year. i was not only pissed during the game, but i woke up still pissed off this morning. hopefully the frusteration doesn't carry over at all.

That was a really lousy call. You steal third with no outs? WTF? Worst case you advance for free on a throw from 3rd to 1st or a deep fly ball or whatever.

Not that one run would have changed anything, I guess. D'oh.

Loss. A blown save only counts when it's a save oppurtunity, ie the last inning the opposing team gets to bat while not in the lead. Basically the ninth inning. And the tying run needs to be on deck. (three runs down)

It was a blown save AND loss. Saves come when the deficit is 3 runs or less OR there is enough people on base that the person on deck would be a tying run. He already had 2 on base so on deck was 4 runs or a tie.

Also, 2 inning saves are possible. Going strictly by the rules 3 inning saves are, too, but I've never heard of one.

Actually I corrected myself, you were right. It was both a blown save and a loss. I thought we had one on when he came in but it was actually 2.

Weeks needs to be taken out of the leadoff spot until he finds his stroke b/c 3 K's is unacceptable

Gwynn really should be in the lead off spot. Even when Rickie is hitting he's not a perfect fit there.
