Back in the NFC Championship Game again. This is a beautiful thing. How many teams go to back-to-back Championship Games? OK, fine. Three this year. You know what I mean. How many teams go to back-to-back Championship Games Ö with different starting QBs? Yeah.

But overall, this is the 9ersí game to lose. They got the most talent. They match up better. They have the experience from last year. And because, dammit, I want another goddamn Super Bowl. Also, I want to face the Patriots. I think we would have smoked them last year. I want the game that was supposed to happen.

And also cause I want to hang 40 on this clown

Well, I didn't think we would be in this position again. It's on the road in the Georgia Dome, but I'll take it. I've been listening to podcasts and reading reports all week and everyone thinks the 49ers will bury the Falcons. I don't know why everyone thinks the Falcons are frauds though. I think it will be a tight game and I wouldn't be shocked if Atlanta won it by a last minute score in the end. I'm hoping this isn't the case and that San Francisco simply comes in and blows up the place. The Falcons under Ryan's guidance have won 85% of their home games dating back to 2008.

I think the Falcons and the city of Atlanta are going to be ridiculously motivated to win the game. This reeks of everyone saying the Seahawks could beat the Saints two years ago in the playoffs and the Cardinals not being able to beat the Falcons two years before that. Just has a bad setup feel to it. Add to the fact that the 49ers have sucked when playing favorites in big games this year and haven't won more than two games straight. That trend will have to break in order for the 49ers to advance.

That being said, I'm praying for this team to get pass the barrier and be back in the Super Bowl. I'd like guys such as Vernon Davis, Patrick Willis, and Alex Smith to have a shot at being apart of a Super Bowl team...but most of all I want Frank Gore to have a shot. He has been the heart and soul of this franchise since 2006 and I feel has made the biggest sacrifice to the organization. Harbaugh, Roman, and Fangio need to really come out guns blazing. Please win.

Attention Falcons safety William Moore: You can't "blow up" something you can't catch. Watch a coyote-roadrunner cartoon or something. Hope his punkass gets dropped on by an anvil named Kap. Or Iupati.

Sf 40 Atl 35 give a take a few points. It will be a barn burner from the get go.

I'm so glad we made the switch to Ck7 ( kaep) we would have lost last weeks game if we had Smith starting . Lets 9ers!!

Awesome thread Borat.

I hate that the Niners are favorites and that everyone is picking them to win the game. I think that the team does better when they're underdogs and no one is picking them to win.

With that being said, im hoping the team is ultra pumped to win the game, end that win two games, lose one game streak, win three in a row and get back to the Super Bowl for the first time since the 1994 season and get that 6th Lombardi trophy and tie those damn Steelers while going ahead of my friend's Cowboys.

That would be triple sweet!!! LOL. :)

Of course, im picking the Niners to win but even if we do lose, im just hoping that Kaepernick plays good and has momentum going into the off-season and 2013 season. Anyway....LET'S GO BABY!!! 49ers FTW!!!

A much better second quarter by the offense for the 49ers still terrible for the defense though. We are getting killed out there. They need to rest and change their calling to come up big in the second half. Also our offense needs to come up with bigger plays

Yeah baby!!! Told you guys that Kap was the answer. Granted, he didnt do what he did last week but seriously, I ddint think that we had a chance to get back to the NFCCG, let alone win it with Smith, so happy KAP is the QB. He gets excited, emotional and pumped up which in turn, pumps up the entire team. Love that.

Anyway, here we go...

Ravens/Patriots...lets see who we will be playing in the SB.

I am all aboard the Kaepernick bandwagon now. I thought he would do something stupid that costs us the game but he managed the game perfectly, and made a few big plays when he needed to. It was just like an Alex Smith performance, and Kaepernick is younger and has huge upside.

We got the Ravens match-up. I didn't really care who won that game, but I'd get more satisfaction from beating the Patriots in the Super Bowl than I would the Ravens.

I've always liked the Ravens. If I weren't a 49ers fan I'd be a Ravens fan. Looking forward to this match-up. Should be a good one. Two weeks to go!

Glad this franchise has made it all the way back to SB. It was brutal there for awhile but we've slowly crawled our way back to title contention. That being said I went from being happy right back to being worried as hell all over again.

And I hate to rain on everybody's 'happy happy, joy joy' but I thought all along, that if we made it to the SB, the Ravens were the one team in the AFC we did not match up well against. We've struggled with teams just as physical as us, upfront along the lines, all year. Rams, 'Hawks, and Vikes. Ravens D-Line is better than all of them. They haven't played great do to injuires but they're just as good and physical as our D-Line, and arguably deeper. Their O-Line will be the best we've faced all year. We barely touched Matt Ryan today. Just seems like a tough match-up. I see a lot ppl talking like we dodged a bullet not having to face Brady twice...not even. You see what physical teams have done to them all year....loses to Seattle, Ravens, and us. After a little bit of happiness, I'm back to being worried all over again. Going to the SB, just to lose would make me sick. I need us to finish the journey. And to do that, we're going to have to beat a team who can out-physical us, on both sides of the ball. I said ATL would be our toughest test of the season. They proved me right. The Ravens in the SB, will absolutely, positively, be a our toughest opponent since Jimbaugh was named coach. We have our work cut out for us. I hope Jimbaugh and the team aren't celebrating right now, but salivating, as their is still food left on our plate.

I don't know man. I heard we'd have trouble against the big QBs in Rodgers and Ryan with their all-world receiving corps. We definitely had trouble with the Falcons in the 1st half, but we figured it out in the 2nd half. Now we get Flacco with Torrey Smith and Anquan Boldin? They are solid players, no doubt, but I'm feeling pretty confident our D will be able to handle them. How did Ray Rice fare against us last time?

On the other side of the ball, our offense is a different offense than the one the Ravens faced last time we met. Their D is not as good, or as fast, as it used to be. They are still good, just not great, IMO. Though they did very well against the Patriots today.

I'm feeling pretty confident going into the big game.

It will be a tough match up. But I believe that our defense is better up front. They showed that today for sure. I'm pretty sure that with 2 weeks off we can prepare really good and be able to handle the Ravens. It will come down to the wire as well. I just wonder who gets home or away jerseys now.

49ersfan_87

Ravens are a better all around team than the Pats. They have the lesser QB but might have the better WR's. Whoever faces us is likely going to have success passing on our Secondary anyway.

Honestly 49ers-Ravens was the matchup I least wanted. Not impossible to win but still...i liked our chances better with 49ers-Patriots or 49ers-Broncos. Ravens are a physical team and could give us trouble ala the Rams or Vikings.

Ravens give me the feel of 2010 Packers and 2011 Giants tbh.

Its not about outside match-ups. The game is won in the trenches first. We got lit up today, because we couldn't land a fingernail on Ryan in the first half. And I knew that was coming, not becuase our secondary is bad, but because I knew the Falcons O-Line was severly underrated. They're a solid bunch and they showed it today. Our stunts didn't do any damage and we got basically no pressure with a four man rush...which we HAVE to do in order to play to our strength.

Ravens have great O-Line. And a REAL running game to worry about. Teams like the Pats and Falcons, they run the ball but the defense knows the keys are the passing game. We can't just gear up to stop Smith and Boldin, because Ray Rice will singlehandedly kill you. Its a different animal....and one we haven't been good at defending all year. I'm glad we broke one trend today and won 3 in a row, but I still have to point out others until they stop being trends. Its going be extremely tough, especially with the way we play defense because we don't blitz a lot. We don't do a lot of exotic stuff on the back-end to confuse coverages. We have to win one-on-one match-ups everywhere. That's what we do. That's how we play. Four man rush, a lot of man on the back-end. And we have players who pretty much do that, better than most on Sundays. But when you don't win those match-ups, and you get gashed some, like we saw today, then it becomes a long day. And when your starters play 90% of the snaps in your base and nickel packages, it wears them down quicker and little gains become longer ones as the game wears on....especially against balanced teams like the Ravens who are still going to run right at you to. Its leads to a nip and tuck kind of game and with Akers woes apparently far from gone, a closely fought game has me I'm very worried. We don't blow out teams like the Ravens. We're just not that efficient yet, offensively, with a young QB. And our defense has lacked consistency most of the year. So the closer the game, the more we need Akers and he's not somebody I trust at the moment. I honestly was hoping to see the Pats. We could physically impose our will on them, as the Ravens did. We can win one-on-one because they lack true deep speed to beat you on the outside and their WRs aren't physically imposing. You just have to guard the offense as a whole, not really the player...like in basketball.

And the Ravens defense did something ours couldn't...finish off Brady and put the nail in the coffin.

49erNation85
01-20-2013, 09:43 PM
I agree about Akers. We just can't let him be a clutch kicker in the super bowl. Put the ball in CK7 hands more often. I'm surprised he didn't run more today. I don't know what the deal was.

We really need to bring in a new and younger kicker next season. Hopefully with in the draft.

I don't want to face the Patriots again. They almost came back against us the last time and that was with a bunch of turnovers. We lost to the Ravens last year. That was a much different 49ers offense though and that was a tougher Ravens defense. I do think this game might be more difficult due to how Baltimore is built, but at the same time I just wouldn't want to play New England again That offense is just tiring.

On another forum i go to Ravens fans have complained about their OL all year long. Apparently its not that good. I don't watch a bunch of their games so i wouldn't know. But hopefully we can get pressure on that OL. An extra 2 weeks of rest for our DL is huge too because of how little we sub guys in. Aldon gets some rest for his injured shoulder, Justin for his triceps.

Hopefully we can capitalize. I am so nervous. So happy but so nervous. These next 2 weeks are going to be an eternity but i appreciate the time off. For our defense as i stated above. But besides rest for our defense, i also like it for our coaches. Our coaching staff has been dynamite with extra time to prepare. I think we could see a real good gameplan in a couple of weeks.

I'm sure when he looks at all the money he's earned and the attractive wife he is banging, he doesn't necessarily feel all that bad about his life. Not to mention that this off-season some team is going to overpay him to be their QB, for at least a short time.

New Orleans better get ready for a GOLD RUSH!!! Wooooooooooooooo hoooooooooo!!!

So proud of this team and what they have done yet they are still focused and hungry for that one last win. Any question to this, see Justin Smith's reaction after the game yesterday.

I knew Harbaugh would get the 49ers back to the promise land and am glad it's come this soon. They've earned it as an organization, making the right moves and putting the right people in place.

It would have been easy for them to roll over but they were resilient, stuck tot their game plan and took control of the game, really dominating the last 3 quarters after getting it handed to them in the first.

Kap did what it took to win and had excellent touch on his throws. Much to Aaron Rodgers dismay, Kap is NOT a gadget QB and will NOT be a "phase." He's here to stay and is only going to get BETTER!

Though the Niners beat the Pats at home already with Kap at the helm this year, I still like the Ravens matchup slightly better. They are a similar team to the Niners but their ceiling and what they can do isn't as great as SF.

The Ray Lewis lovefest for the next 2 weeks will overshadow the Niners being favorites and put more pressure on the Ravens to win as they are the self-proclaimed 'team of destiny.'

It will come down to execution but I LOVE the 49ers chances to bring home #6. I called both a HarBowl SB and a San Francisco MLB-NFL sweep this year and am ONE win away from getting it all correct.

I don't think anyone will overpay for him. I think he will get top 12-ish QB money, which is what he deserves.

Alex Smith will get another good contract for a few years with a team that needs a QB. BUF, NYJ, JAX, OAK, KC and ARZ are the teams that come to mind. Smith is easily better than the starting QB's on those teams but at the same time, if he has to learn another offense with a new head coach, its going to be a problem for him. Personally, if he's able to get a ring (even as a backup), he should just retire because going to any one of those crappy teams is just going to be more frustrating than fun and not worth it.

I know everyone here will say that he should keep playing but if you were him, would you really want to play for any of those teams? I wouldnt especially if im already secured money wise and if he has kids or going to have kids, I would be done, relax and enjoy the rest of my life peacefully. :)

Man, I love Frank Gore but when he speaks to the press I feel so bad for him. He sounds like a 12-year-old making his first speech in front of a class. Good thing you don't have to be particularly smart to be a running back.

Are you saying Frank Gore isn't intelligent? He has a learning disability, but you can be a genius and have a learning disability.

He simply does not come across as intelligent. For all I know he is a genius but when he does an interview he sounds like an idiot.

Wow. I don't see that at all. He seems really casual and down to Earth to me.

You do understand that being well spoken and intelligence don't necessarily mirror each other right? In general, ppl equate intelligence with how well a person speaks. Not really a ideal way of looking at things. I have a friend who dropped out of HS in the 10th grade. You would never know because he speaks like a Rhode Scholar. He can't spell worth **** either. He can enunciate a word perfectly but has no clue how to spell it. Was never great at math. Is he dumb? Can't be, because he runs his own business, a successful one. Intelligence can be measured in many ways beyond how a person communicates.

Considering that I don't know Frank Gore personally, though, the only things I can base his intelligence off of are his interviews and the fact that he has a learning disability. Like I said, Gore might be a genius but he doesn't come across that way.

We just won the NFCCG and we're arguing about whether Frank Gore is an "idiot" or not?

Sometimes I just don't get it.

Can't really see Smith in AZ, doesn't fit Arians/Moore's offense at all and if they want to keep a vet the rest of Kolb's contract is non-guaranteed so they can cut him at anytime with no penalty
