Rules:

Amnesty- 1 amnesty per team, can not be a player you traded for. Has to be before Sim 1 of the league.

Gripes- 3 players you would like to gripe, provide with facts from the 99-00 season or from their college ball (if they are a rookie). If they exploded in the 00-01 season and later, it does not affect them now.

Amnesty: Kelvin Cato and his 6yr/$42m contract.

Gripe: Steve Francis' potential. #2 overall pick, in his second season after putting up 18/5/7 as a rookie, he has a D potential. Just seems strange to me. No idea if this fits as a gripe.

The potential you see on the index is not their actual potential, its random so that way you really dont know what it is. You will have to spend GM cash to know what it really is. I wont consider this a gripe.

Something funny happened with the Mavs. They went from slightly over the cap to under it and on the "Statistics" section it was zeroes and now it is populated with 40+ games and Gary Trent is injured for 11 months. Dirk also went from a PF to a C along with half my roster :/

Is the site going wonky?

[edit]
Also noticed my roster doesn't match the 00-01 roster on basketball-reference so I imagine the system is going nuts.

As clarification Zach does the "not traded for" mean as in since we took the team over or any trades the team has ever completed. Mainly I'm asking if I can offload that atrocious Juwan Howard contract (3 years / 45 mil). If I can go ahead and amnesty him :)

No gripes.

What I mean by that is once we get enough people (i.e. half the league) ill set up a trades thread. For example, you cant trade for Iverson than amnesty him. Like in 11, they have to be on your team right now for them to be eligible. But since Juwan is on your team right now, he can be and is now cut.

Bulls amnesty- Ron Mercer

Gripes:
-Elton Brand handling: C-....Brand averaged 3.2 assists as a big man, how the hell is his handling a C-?
-Fred Hoidberg outside: B+...should be at least an A-, he was top 5 amongst guys who took at least 2.5 threes in 00-01
Ron Artest handling: C....come on, he's a perfectly decent passer and he had a greater than 1:1 assist to turnover ratio as a rookie

Ron Artest handling: C....come on, he's a perfectly decent passer and he had a greater than 1:1 assist to turnover ratio as a rookie

Because if he goes higher he will averaged 5ish assists a game. C- is very good for most big guys. But I bumped a little but still C-

Freds 3 point shot bumped some, but he is a Top 15 3 point shot in the league now.

C doesnt mean 1:1 ratio. His handles is fine, bumped the passing a little.

Perhaps it's like Baseball Mogul in that there is a chance that anyone will succeed or bust in any given sim. Maybe Durant ends up being injured all the time in this while Oden goes on to be a superstar. Maybe Grant Hill returns to his old ways and becomes a triple double machine while Steve Nash never takes off and becomes a star. At least thats what I hope. Would be boring if every player turned into what they were 'supposed' to be.

Thats where potential comes in. You can have 100 potential (highest you get), but you could bust and actually get worse. On the other hand, you can have mediocre potential and get better.

Also, this game has some crazy injuries. Last season in my other league, JR Smif was out like 60ish games for severe depression.

i don't necessarily like that unless injuries are completely random. if a guy tears his acl it is what it is. if he is severely depressed maybe we can have zach go in and un-"injure" him

Done. Most of these guys you really cant argue with tbh.

It takes out the realistic approach, and you dont have to do as much work but to find like a great starting lineup rather than a full bench.

They are completely random. ...and they can be numerous. ...and they can be LOOOOONG. I've been in a league where you work hard to build a team and injuries just make you wish you never invested your time in the first place.

Zach quick question. I saw Michael Finley is listed as a SG despite playing SF is there a hidden "versatility" or "other positions" stat we can't see that allows him to be 100% comfortable in either spot?

The only thing that happens is each position can be capped at a certain attribute, except SF. Center and PFs have a capped handles, while PG and SG have a capped rebounding. So basically, you cant have a A+ player across the board.

His 3 pt shot is good, its just there are other reasons why its just a B (strength, quickness, jumping are also a part of the equation to get grades)

So how did the Lakers amnesty Rick Fox without posting in here, and then sign him for the LLE? I would have known if he was a FA.

If your friend wants in, he has to actually post.
Wait what? Teams that amnesty a player cannot resign him during the season.

...and yeah, if there are moves that are made outside of this forum that's hard for those of us here to be aware of.

Trogdor
07-24-2013, 05:39 AM
O_o He wasn't on the transactions page either. I'm 100% sure he never made it to the actual FA page as well considering I was looking for outside shooters from the SF spot and settled with Mullins after a dearth of options.

D is on the money though. The amnesty clause actually states that a player that is waived through the clause cannot resign with his current team for 1 year.

zachsaints52
07-24-2013, 12:14 PM
It was my fault. Last night my friend told me to amnesty Fox. I forgot to put on there about him, and his bids. Hence the reason I didn't bid on anyone because I simmed before I put my bids on here.

Im putting him back on normal salary. My b.

Ive had back to back 10 hour days of community service. Todays my last long day of serving, thankfully. Im tired and still got stuff to do until 6.

T-Mac should have a potential of A, not B. He's 21 years old and about to become one of the best players in the game.

Mike Miller should have an OUT higher than B.
