I'm trying out Windows Vista right now and it is absolutely gorgeous. The entire setup is perfect. The only problem is that on older machines don't have the necessary speed to run applications as well as they do on XP. I have a 2.6 GHz processor and it runs great when nothing is installed, but I think it will get too slow when more processes are running. Vista makes XP look like crap. I'm probably going to go back to XP until I get a faster machine. It's going to be hard to go back to XP, so i'm going to be looking into a new machine soon. If you have Vista, tell us what you think about it.

How fast is your processor? Does it run good?

I heard XP was better then it in terms of running applications.

It's definitely better then XP. But the DRM rumor did irk me, but It's mostly the movie studios thing. I need upgrade my machine to really take advantage of the visual features. But I will definitely "buy" a copy.

It's 1.6 GHZ and it runs like a charm.

That being said I don't put any music on my laptop, and only put Civ 4 on here cause I like to play that on roadtrips and what not. Everything else is on my PC.

Nope, unfortunately (for Mac owners) it isn't.

The Vista GUI does have Mac similarities. I mean the Aero and Aqua are very similar. The functionality between the two are alike also, but that's just the progress in home computing.

Vista is basically what OSX was about 5 years ago, just more of a pain in the ass. When the new OSX comes out in a couple of months Microsoft will be back to playing catch up again for a few years.

So which is better: Mac or PC?

They each have their uses. For most people, PCs simply because there is more software available for them.

Vanilla and chocolate, neither is better, everyone has a preference

So which is better: Mac or PC?

Whichever one you are more productive with and enjoy working with the most. In the end they both do the same things, just in different ways. Personally I much prefer Mac.

Mac has the design and simplicity that attracts alot of people. And it is built off a Unix kernal, so it is very stable. But Windows has much more 3rd party applications. Especially for games.

I actually have Vista and am waiting to install it until after the draft since it's kind of a pain to back everything up and reinstall all my apps.

I'm waiting until SP1 to even attempt to move everything I have over to Vista. I also heard it was kind of a pain in the ass with all it's "Cancel or Allow" windows that show up.

I was almost gonna switch everything over to Linux after my last HD crashed, but I'm sticking with it

Why not just format your HD to different drive!?!

I had an extra drive anyway. There is actually a way that you can run two different operating systems on one hard drive. When you boot up the computer it gives you an option as to which one you want to load. I had computer with Linux and Windows on it at the same time. My brother knows how to do that kind of stuff.
