View Full Version : Breakout Qb?
Which QB will have a breakout season a la Carson Palmer 2 years ago?
Some players to keep an eye on are:
Matt Schaub
David Carr
Alex Smith
Ben Roeth (had to great seasons, but may finally silence doubters)
Jay Cutler
Matt Leinart
Vince Young?
I think Schaub will be great, and I think that Carr will be the Panthers starting QB sooner rather than later.

Why isn't Campbell on this list?
I think he has one of the best shots of becoming a 'breakout QB.'
One elite receiver and a good supporting cast, Top 5 NFL running back, a more than proven backup, and Saunder's playbook. Towards the end of the year, Campbell looked VERY promising.

It might not be Palmeresque, but I think JP Losman is going to break out and have a very nice season.

David Carr
Jason Campbell
Eli Manning
Matt Leinart
Jay Cutler
Timmy CHang(in CFL)
QB's I think will slump:
Vince Young, just lost Bennett
Tony Romo, teams will have a better idea of what to expect.

I am going to go with David Carr. In Carolina's offense he has the potential to make the pro bowl if given the chance. Steve Smith with a QB that isn't about to roll over in his grave

Turn into legit stars:
Big Ben- although I already consider him a star, I think he is gonna have a very good year
Eli Manning- breakout year, Im talking 30 TDs, 16-18 INT's.
Continue progressing and will have a good year:
Jay Cutler- hes not gonna be a star yet, but hes gonna have a nice season
Matt Lienart- he should, but then again hes on the Cardinals so I wouldnt bet on it, but if he was on any other team he would be a shoe in here
Chris Simms- watched him since HS, and I think that if he starts, he should progress into a quality starter

I have to say JP Losman. I think the OL will play like seasoned vets and give him some decent pass protection. I also think Kevin Everett will break out at TE

It warms my heart to see that J.p. is getting some love considering the person that started the list didnt have him on the list at all. Makes me wonder why considering J.p. had a better season than anyone else on the list last year.

Jason Campbell I think. Good Offensive Weapons with him and a little mmobility.

Well other than my obvious homer instincts, or any other rookie QB, or Losman(I think last year was "breakout" enough), I would say...
Grossman(Seriously. If he cut his bad games in half he'd be one of the better QBs in the league. When he's playing well, he's top-10.)
Vick
I'm probly forgetting others.
Eli will break out the year after IMO, once Coughlin is gone.
And Cutler will throw 50 TDs and no INTs(you didnt really expect me to go through a WHOLE POST without being a homer did you?).

If by "Interceptions" you mean Touchdowns, and by "rude awakening" you mean "amazing fantastical coming out party" and by "3" you mean "5", then yes, I agree with you. :p

Why is David Carr on this list? Everyone else has shown QB abilities. Carr has shown how to run out of bounds and curl up in the fetal position. At most he can add dink and dink passes to his resume.
Cutler at the top
Leinart next
Carr dead last with about 30 other QB's ahead of him including Manning's backup.

aaa.. Tavaris Jackson .. ;) In my wet dream..!
No seriously though, I think Vick should have a good season. Would also like to see Alex Smith and Vernon Davis do something this season. Cutlers got a good shot with those weapons and running game. Leinart should have decent numbers if they can get some help on the OLine. Young willl have a Madden like season. 1200 yds passing 12td 17ints... and 1100 yard rushing

Matt Leinart with Q, Fitz, and Edge at his disposal. Hands down Matt Leinart will be definitely be breaking out this upcomng season.......Though he did have a pretty impressive rookie campaign statistically speakig.
