View Full Version : Is Trent Edwards any better than Walter?

If the Raiders go with Johnson with the #1 pick why not just let Walter be the guy?

I really hope the Raiders don't waste the 33rd pick on QB. I really hope the Raiders can get Ryan Kalil with the 33rd pick.

I think if they pick up a QB it will be in the 3rd or 4th. I'm guessing they go o-line in the 2nd with either Kalil or one of those other guys like Staley.

I dont think we can even be sure if Kalil and Staley will be there though.
I would have to say that Edwards has better decision making and is also alot more mobile than Walter.

Edwards is smarter (was Walter's #1 knock besides injuries coming out) and far more mobile, a must for an offense that required a lot of designed roll outs.

If we pick a QB in rd 2 I will seriously drive all the way to Oakland just to slap someone....

We need to fix that OL to give WHOEVER is playing QB time to throw to the WR's and to create some type of running game. Kalil/Staley Rd2 in 07!!!

PS - I still think we are taking JR.

Seriously if we dont take Russell, theres no reason to draft a QB.

only thing i like more aboyt him is that he is mobile. i think kalil or possibly staley will be the pick in round 2. if there not there i guess he willbe the pick

why is it due ot the fact that you cant take any other upgrade at the QB position other than Russell.

There is no comparison in there game. Edwards is a WCO feriy leader type QB who does well under pressure and is alot faster and shorter. well walter isnt any of those.

Because we just drafted a QB on the first day a few years ago and we are high on him obviously. No one can blame any of the players for last years crap fest. I'm not the biggest fan of Walter, he's ok I suppose but the mediocrity of Walter continues with Edwards, Stanton etc etc.

I don't like Edwards at all, if Raiders go CJ than just let Walter be the QB don't waste pick #33 on Edwards or any QB for that matter.

I don't even want McCown I think that's a waste of a draft pick

I doubt Kalil or Staley will be there. Ugoh,Sears,Blalock and Grubbs will all have a better chance of dropping to the 2nd. And why not just grab Edwards in the 3rd. Theres still a good chance of that and Stanton should be there too.

To reemphasize what everyone else is saying . . . if the Raiders don't get JR, they should just let Walter go another year. He will probably perform badly and the Raiders will get another high draft pick. However, maybe with CJ there he will be the next Rich Gannon.

with the way his stock is rising I dont think that will happen.

Perfect scenario(No Im not a raiders fan so i dont know how everyone feels)
2007:
1) Calvin Johnson
2) OL
3) DL
Also pick up a vet QB, and maybe trade away Moss and get a 3rd or 4th

2008:
1) BRIAN BROHM or someone else. Next year's QB class should be pretty good

i think Grubbs goes before Kalil.

1. Which vet QB should they get?
2. The Raider's will most likely not be in postion to get Brohm next year.
3. Moss is better than a 3rd or 4th rounder, even with CJ. Last year the Raiders fell apart and Moss didn't want to risk his health any more for an idiot coach who had no direction for the team. Moss can still be a good weapon

The only decent vet QB left is Tim Rattay I think. I'm happy with either CJ or JR at #1. Definitely OL rd2, most realistic pick is Kalil who will prolly drop out of rd 2 [if not him Blalock/Grubbs]. With our two picks in the 3rd I want two of the following positions chosen, TE-OL-DL. That will make me very happy on draft day. :)

Next year's draft class should be good for mid-round 1 QB's, so hopefully that is where we will be next year if we draft CJ.

i would pick Blalock at 33# and in 3rd take a QB. IMO Trent or Stanton will be still there

IMO if you guys draft edwards at #33, you can all but kiss your chances of a winning record this season goodbye, (Assuming you have drafted CJ) but have a legitimate shot of developing the guy into a pro-bowl qb down the road... so... idk go for it

Good post. I'd be happy with either one. And I know people think we should go CJ and then O-line, but we have a bunch of linemen now. I wouldn't be surprised to see us pass on O-line till day 2. Just a hunch.

I would have to agree.I think that with the additions of Newberry and Carlisle I think the interior of our Oline is ok for now.We curently have Newberry,Carlisle,Boothe,Treu,Grove, and McQuistan all in the interior.Boothe and McQuistan may be moved to the outside though.Either way I dont feel we'll go interior lineman in the 2nd round and I dont think that theres any OT worth the #33 overall pick.i think we could very well go Allen Barbre in late round three or the 4th.He fits the ZBS well but may not be able to start day one but could start later on.

For Green Bay, hopefully.

Moss is a piece of trash. If all we can get for him is a 6th round pick, then we need to take the 6th round pick and be happy to be rid of that lame ass quitter.

We took a 7th for Rice. I'd take a 5th for Moss at this moment. Plus, Oakland always drafts good players in the late rounds

I agree. I think we need to draft a OT in the 3rd or 4th round. Galley was hurt a lot this year and so was Simms.

*Identifies Romyrick as someone with nothing of value to add, nor an understanding of the Moss situation in Oakland*
