Chicago beat out LA to be the representative from the United States for the 2016 Olympic Games. I guess we'll be going up against cities like Prague and Rome.

I really don't know our chances, but I assume they're pretty good. Being able to sell the Lake Front and Private Investing will help I bunch I think. The rendering for the Olympic Stadium is pretty cool IMO, although it'll only be temporary. I've heard that the Olympics coming to certain cities has had it's share of hardships in the aftermath, but Chicago is a very prosperous city and I think they'd do well with the Olympic Games.

No link but check out ESPN.com for more info. Go Chicago! :D

Good stuff! I've been a big fan of Chicago since I went there two years ago.

I wanted DC/Baltimore to win 2012 olympics so bad. But good luck Chicago.

Me too, but Chicago's cool too, but Green Bay would be better

Congrats, Chicago will have a hard act to follow in London, that's if London completes their redevelopment in time. It's a year behind apparently.

Or you just had the Winter Games about 30 years ago. Maybe they want to give a new city a chance.

its for if the Olympics would be held in America, Chicago would be the city they were held in

yea because NY couldn't come up with money to support the Olympics after the U.S. nominated them...thereby making the U.S. looked stupid and NY only got like 16 votes, so they wanted to make sure the U.S. city is serious about it this time :D

also, they are saying Chicago has a good chance because by the time 2016 comes around, 2 european cities would have held Olympics and 1 Asian, so unless they choose Rio de Janero(sp?) then Chicago is looking pretty good...

And Chicago I don't believe has ever hosted an Olympics. If it were me, I'd choose Chicago over New York, but hey that's me.

Umn no way, unless you want congested traffic for 3 months, DC is already one of the worst traffic areas in the country if the Olympics were here it would take me 1 hour to drive to the grocery store. I'm happy watching it on T.V, it's not like I'd get a seat in the stadium anyways, and DC doesn't need another reason to be a terror target.

Think about Chicago. That is going to suck getting around there. As long as they keep it down there I'm alright with it.

Baltimore is too thugish of a city for Olympics.

Pretty cool. Hopefully you guys get it. The city deserves some world wide recognition. Nice place. I went there once.

2016? To bad you will never see it happen because the world is going to end in 2012.

It will be cool if Chicago can once again become the top city in the USA like it was back late 1800'2, early 1900's... But if we do get it, it is gonna suck for people like me who live in Chicago come 2016... I should start planning a summer long vacation away from Chicago if it does indeed come here.

New York is a dirty city. I went there about a couple years ago and I couldn't wait to leave. The Lake Front in Chicago is incredible. Just a gorgeous place to visit.

Lake Michigan in Chicago and Milwaukee absolutely suck compared to what they have in Michigan.

I wasn't a fan of New York either. Then again, I'm a Boston guy. We're raised to hate everything to do with New York.

I agree with Milwaukee as they did have that outbreak of salmonella a couple years back, because they suck... but Michigan has nothing on Chicago... Detroit isn't even on the lake front, is it? Plus, Michigan sucks.

I never said anything about Detroit. The beaches on the other side kill what we have.

Yea but our skyline kills anything Michigan has.
