I'm not sure why you are comparing him specifically to Reggie Bush since a lot of RBs could hurdle defenders that aren't expecting it. It was a good move none the less...

He's favoring Michigan, but Ohio State, LSU, and USC would be very involved if they decided to offer. Tamu is in the mix too.

FWIW, there is a thread on him in the subforum above...ie the recruiting forum.

He's going to be a good one. His measurables are absolutely disgusting.

He wants to get offers from LSU, USC, and OSU. As a LSU fan I would actually rather pass on this guy.

He has major character issues, pretty cocky and full of himself, but I guess a bunch of blue chip recruits comming out of high school are that way also.

USC and OSU you can have him boys.

If nobody is gonna say it then i will. Noel Devine does the same stuff against the crappiest competition in Florida and is a 5 star top 10 prospect by scout.com. Sam does it against better competition and has an even more impressive hi-light reel, better size at 5-10 180. I really believe the fact that he is white is the reason he isn't getting the same love from the national publications. The most bullsh-t I heard came from coach Charlie Weiss and Bob Stoops each of whom compared him to wes welker and tim dwight. For one he's not a WR, and why does he have to be compared to other white players? Why can't he be compared to Barry Sanders or Warrick Dunn. I'm interested to see if Rivals makes him a 4 star like scout did.

Well he's about 4 inches taller and 10 pounds heavier as a high school junior. Could easily end up being in the 5-11 200 range by the time he steps on a college campus.

I really hope he doesn't go there. He'll never see the field at RB and they'll end up moving him to CB, which would be a real waste IMO. He needs to go to TAMU or Michigan, or imagine the numbers he'd put up in Leach's system at tech as a RB/Slot-WR

correct me if i am wrong, but isn't trindon holiday 5'5?? i know he is blazing fast, prolly fastest in NCAA right now, but i don't really see him being a RB. maybe 3-4 WR and KR/PR.

i think it would BA if LSU offered him. he is fast enough, has great balance and moves, and he is obviously durable because even though it is highschool to get 3200+ yrds in a year you have to be carrying the ball.....A LOT.

TigerBait45
04-18-2007, 04:08 PM
Holiday's 5'7, I think. Maybe a bit smaller.

They played him at RB a good bit last year, and it seemed like every time he got the ball he went a long way. Hes very versatile. I'd like to see him get used much more than he was last year, but I think he could be bogged down with all the backs LSU has.

I really don't like the way this McGuffie guy carries himself. Its good to be confident in yourself, but when you haven't played a down of college football you probably shouldn't be too critical of anyone who has.

terribletowel39

well not only that but 5'7 or shorter, which i think he is 5'5, isn't meant to run into 6'1-6'6 big bodies for a long time. especially when LSU has Alley Broussard. 250 lbs of man.

TigerBait45
04-18-2007, 04:23 PM
I think it depends on how they use him, really. Holiday's small but you can use him out of that RB position in a lot of different ways.

Put him in the backfield and motion him outside, where hes covered by a linebacker. Thats a huge mismatch considering how fast he is.

I really like his potential, as you can tell. I don't think he should get the bulk of the carries, but hes too explosive to just use on kick off returns and as a 3rd or 4th receiver, especially since he saw the field primarily as a running back last year.

http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=8&c=1&nid=1713469

5'7 is the listing here, but I dunno if thats entirely accurate.

terribletowel39
04-18-2007, 04:27 PM
i agree that he could be used more than what i said but i don't think he could handle a full load at the college level much less the pro level. i also think that sam mcguffie could put on 15-25 lbs and be able to bring something when he runs into somebody. and i don't think he would loose anything by adding that much. and he is just a junior in high school so he could potentially grow another inch or two. those two in the same backfield would be scary, and i am all for LSU being scary.

good point there but to be quite honest chris rainey and noel devine will never carry the full load and they play in an offense which enables them to avoid injury and Reggie never did carry the full load in college which is what i expect McGuffie to do i just hope he dosent go to a program tha likes to pound it up cause he will get murdered but yeah mcguffie will be in the NFL someday as a starting back just watch him!

He doesnt have to look like a nerd, but his attitude probably carries over to game day. Now its fine, but wait till he a) gets his helmet tilted sideways by any opposing player who sees this pic or b) gets beat up by his black team mates for probably tossing around the n word. Either way this is the type of kid that every one loves to hit as hard as possible as many times as possible.

Ok i admit my basis is off only kids from my high school but looking at the tipped hat and the huge chain kid probably carries himself in a way that would rub alot of kids the wrong way. Ive seen this kinda attitude in the suburbs and the worst that happens when you rub someone the wrong way nothing really bad happens maybe some name calling and chest puffing but nothing real. I attend Wayne State which is an overwhelming black school in an overwhelming black city. Kids (epsecially white kids) with the attitudes that this guy portrays in the pictures and from other accounts get messed up. Its as simple as that.

Now I may be wrong he may be a very humble, church going young man that helps old ladies cross streets and volunteers his time to sick children, and i wish him the best, but i know alot of kids on my old football team that would love to take a shot at him based on that photo alone.
