The Penguins are probably the best young team in the NHL, and will only get better with time. Considering the massive improvement we saw this season, I really think they'll make it to the finals next season.

Sidney Crosby is probably the best, or amongst the best centres in the league, Malkin is an up-and-comer, who is already great and will only get better, Jordan Staal has shown a lot of promise, Colby Armstrong is proving to be a great pick, and Mark-Andre Fleury is one of only two GK ever to be taken first overall.

If you add the talented veterans they've got: Gonchar, Recchi, Roberts, etc. they have the makings of a perenial winner.

Your thoughts?

I hope they make this year, though that looks unlikely.

3 years, they'll keep making the playoffs but it'll take a bit before they push through to the Finals

I think 2 years, they have the offense to do it right now but their defense and their goaltending just isn't good enough yet. Give players like Ryan Whitney and Marc-Andre Fleury a couple more years to develop and then they will make their run.

The turnaround from being one of the worst teams last year to being very good this year is amazing. They will definitely win one if they keep these young guys together and they have the potential to be the next dynasty like Edmonton from the 80's.

I agree. How these guys are playing is unbelievable. I can only hope we get a couple more good defenders in the upcoming draft and fa.

within 3 years as long as they got the goalie (name slipped my mind), malkin and crosby, than they should be good

with the new collective bargaining agreement its going to be almost impossible to keep the trio of Crosby/Staal/Malkin together.
However they have a great base to build on and they should be even greater contenders next season with everyone having one more year of experience.

They're going to lose some of their starpower in the a few years so they better make it quickly.

Fleury has a great glove, but he has got to do something about his rebound control.
