Who would you rather build your team around? also, who do you think is better?

i know this belongs in the nba thread but i thought itd be fun to see the results of a poll.

Dwight Howard is going to end up the better player

Without a doubt howard. He is heavier, more powerful, blocks more shots, and is wayyy younger. plus he doesnt go down for 10-20 games a year.

howard, it really isnt close for me, far more athletic, and can do much more than yao

Howard, and its not that close IMO.

Guess who I'm gonna pick here.

I just wish Dwight could have some of Yao's offensive game.

yao is not agressive enough, but he does have a nice little jumper or fade away i should say.

M.O.T.H.
04-17-2007, 05:36 PM
Hey, he may not be that aggressive but, offensivly he is the best true Center in the league, right now.

Yao actually hurts his team......meanwhile the magic would be siginifgantly worse without dwight

Yao definitely deserves more credit than you guys are giving him.

i dont mean "hurt" but statistically they do better without Yao

I'll have to go with Howard because of his upside. Right now, he's not a go-to scorer but that should change is a couple years. Plus, he's arguably the best rebounder in the league and is very active.

Yea because we have Tracy McGrady, but when we have both we dominate people. Yea T-Mac is the MVP of our team, but I would much rather have Yao(obviously)

I have to go with the same bet and pick Howard but I love Yao and he has a great game but injuries and the presence of T-Mac will always leave him underappreciated and overlooked to some extent.

Howard. Whered you pull these 2 names from anyway? Kind of random.

Dwight Howard is the best IMO

The game is undoubtedly trending towards needing versatile offensive big men over enforcers in the paint, so I'll go with Yao. If this was 1997, I'd take Dwight.

dwight howard with out a doubt

wow some people have absolutely no knowledge. Someone said Howard is heavier? Yao has almost 40 pounds on him. Another person said the rockets are better off without Yao? Give me a break.

I would take Yao if it werent for his injury problems btw. He was an MVP candidate before he went down with an injury.

I have a man crush on Dwight...

but seriously his offensive game has improved greatly since last year, plus its only what his 2nd or 3rd year? He could easily average 25 and 15 in the near future...especially if he stays in the East

Yao, cause im a rockets homer.

No doubt i'd rather have Howard. The only reason you would want Yao over him would be for marketing reasons.

Ming is always hurt, and Howard is a stud.

i d rather have howard. but a more better poll would be Chris bosh Vs. Dwight howard.

The better question is...will Dwight Howard be better than Amare Stoudemire?

If Amare can back to form, I think theres no question that he's the best big man in the game. But can Dwight give him a run for the money in a couple of years?

And, Yao is light-years ahead of Howard in terms of offensive game but that's not too important, right?

I wouldn't say lightyears, while yes Yao's offensive skills are lightyears ahead of Howard, because of Howards athleticism he is able to score many buckets which Yao wouldn't on put backs and drop steps, no doubt Yao is a far better scorer, but Howard is a more explosive scorer.

Howard can score 20 a game just dunking the ball with his athleticism. That's pretty dominating and impressive, I'll take him. Bosh>>>Howard though.

If Yao could stay healthy, I would probably pick him. Maybe he isn't as aggresive as Howard but he will end up getting the same number of boards as him just because of how tall he is. He is 4-6 inches on some of the taller players in the league. Yao's offensive game is also more polished than Howards.

Howard has improved greatly every year he has been in the league though and hasn't had much injury trouble. I think when he's 25 or 26(whatever age Yao is right now), he will be getting 20/10 night in, night out.

Definately that man-beast Dwight Howard. Can't really add anything else that hasn't been said. I just think he'll develop more of an offensive repertoire and be the more dominant player.

I think the better poll would be Al Jefferson vs Dwight Howard, two guys very close in age and both near the same size, but different players. As for this poll, I think it's a lot closer than people think, but in the long run I'd rather have Dwight. If it was a one year thing, I'd take Yao simply because he's the better player right now.
