I saw the mock draft challenge thread that was stickied and wanted to put one together with a different scoring system. There won't be any prizes at all for this, just pride is on the line. There are just a few simple rules:
1. Just type in a 1-round mock draft.
2. Trades are allowed if you choose to do so. If you do include any trades, please make a note of it like putting an * in front of it and saying who the pick was traded from just to make things more clear.
3. Please only submit one mock. If you change you mind on things edit your prior posting or else if you can't do that then clearly say that you are amending your draft in your newer post.
4. Scoring will be as follows:
3 points for picking the right player to the right team at the right pick number (i.e. the correctly picking the Raiders selecting JaMarcus Russell at #1).
2 points for picking the right player to the right team at the wrong pick number (i.e. picking the Dolphins to draft Brady Quinn at #9 when in actuality they trade up to say #6 and draft him there).
1 point for picking the right position that a team drafts but the wrong player (i.e. you predict the Titans will draft Dwayne Jarrett and they end up picking Robert Meachem). I will keep the position designations relatively broad, for instance I will not distinguish between LT and RT, FS and SS, or ILB and OLB. For a select few players that could end up playing multiple positions like Justin Blalock or Arron Sears playing OG or OT or Brandon Meriweather who could play CB or S I'll accept both positions if applicable.
If anyone is interested in joining just submit your 1st round mocks on this thread by Saturday morning at 10am EST (an hour before the draft starts). If you have any questions feel free to send me a PM or post it on here. I'll get the mock points tallied up Saturday night and post the winner. Hopefully we'll get enough interest to make things interesting. I'll start things off:
1. Oakland - JaMarcus Russell, QB, Louisiana State
2. *Tampa Bay (traded from Detroit) - Calvin Johnson, WR, Georgia Tech
