Which QB would you rather see us end up with?

Drew Stanton or Trent Edwards?

Discuss . . .

I don't really want any QB (except maybe Culpepper? He'd come cheaper than any of those guys).

stanton or bust for me, i am starting to grow a strong hatrid towards Trent Edwards, look at his mechanics, the guy manages to throw like hobbly wobbly some how i cant explain it

If we HAVE to take a QB this year its Stanton, i dont trust edwards at all, akward delivery limited experience poor competition all the symptoms of a bust to me. I would say stanton compares loosely to Brett Favre, a gunslinger who's decisions are sometimes questionable but he can carry his team. i like him more (and this isnt the homer in me talking bcuz i really dont want either of them)

Id rather pass on them all and wait for Brohm/JDB next year.

I like Trent Edwards, I just don't like where his stock is going. I wouldn't want to pick him at #34 overall, and that is where we will have to pick him if we want him. I don't like Stanton at all. Out of either Brady Quinn and JaMarcus Russell I'd prefer Russell but I would be satisfied with Quinn. But at the same time, if we didn't pick a QB this year I wouldn't be depressed.

There is always John Beck too . . . I probably should have included him in the poll . . .

If CJ goes #1, I'd really be interested in the idea od taking Russell at 2 rather than trading down. I guess it really depends on the offer, but I really like Russell.

As for the whole Stanton / Edwards debate, I'd prefer whichever one is available for our 3rd round pick. Either is fine with me, but I just don't want to spend our 2nd on either when guys like Meriweather or Mccauley should be available.

Martz doesn't want a first round QB because he doesn't want any added pressure to play the QB he chooses to groom for the future.

We won't take a first round QB.

Brady Quinn.

I am open to the idea of taking Quinn, but only in a deal down.

Staton sucks, he makes worse decisions then Vick does. Staton has nice miserables with his mobility and he plays extremely hard. I don't want him he is to inconsistent.

From what I have seen from Edwards I have been impressed. He threw 60 passes in his pro day and completed 57 of them. which was also in rainy windy weather. when I watched some of his junior year, he was very impressive with his decision making and reading his progressions. what I don't like about him is I think he might be injury prone, but that can also be because he had no offensive line help.

Trade down with Tampa-

Gaines Adams
David Harris
Eric Weedle ( His versatility is remarkable, look at how the pats build their team.)

Trade back up into the 2nd with the extra picks we have from our trades.

Trent Edwards

Stanton has the ability to create and the experience of throwing a ton and playing behind a crappy line so he should feal right at home being a Lion.

It's "measurables"...but your post made me laugh until a mouthful of coffee shot out my nose, so thanks for that.

I like Edwards more as the drop back passer, don't forget he didn't play with much of a line, prob even a worse line than Stanton.

Martz doesn't want a first round QB because he doesn't want any added pressure to play the QB he chooses to groom for the future.

We won't take a first round QB.

If it is up to Martz, I think he would pass on Quinn not because he doesn't want a QB controversy but because he is really hoping to get a new HCing gig next season if his current offense can be impressive. Hence, he is looking for immediate help and that is why he would like Johnson. He's not interested in any long term prospect who cannot help immediately. That's why teams have GM's to make those decisions as they are usually committed to the long term health of the organization rather than just next season. However Millen may be on the same page with Martz at looking at just next season as he is trying to get from under the gun. Thus, neither of these guys may care about the long term health of the organization, only about short term gain.

If I were in the Lions spot, I would take Joe Thomas and take Stanton in the 2nd.

trade down, draft amobi okoye, then take stanton late first round trading up the second round pick acquired for our first round and our other second round pick or our third round and perhaps a third or fourth round acquired if we get those instead

I prefer Edwards, as I've never really liked Stanton too much. He just makes bad decisions alot. However, as has already been said, I don't like the fact we'd probably have to take him in early in the second to get him. I'd prefer no QB this year and wait for next year.

Take Quinn or pass on the rest of those clowns including Russell if he is available.

Stanton? Ive watch this guy play live and on the TV for along time. He reminds me loosely of Mike McMahon. He has no heart or passion and when the going gets tough, he's looking for Jeff Smoker!

I think you guys talking about Martz has some truth to it, this ego maniac cares only about himself. He would screw a pigeon if it would get him an interview with the Giants. He only cares about his future, so there is truth to him wanting to keep Kitna throwing hotdogs over the middle.

I think Miilen needs to win to, so he is looking for the player to impact the Lions immediately. To bad we are more then one player away from getting out of the seller in the weak NFC. Gaines Adams is a bust in the making, so he is right up there with the pigeon! SCREWED
