Lets not try to have this turn into a big argument about who is the best guitarist, just list some of your favorite guitar players, whoevers style you like the most.

Dimebag Darrell (Pantera/Damageplan)
Zakk Wylde (Ozzy/Black Label Society)
Randy Rhoads (Ozzy/Quiet Riot)
Van Halen (Van Halen)
Jim Martin (Faith No More)
Adam Dutkiewicz/Joel Stroetzel (Killswitch Engage)
Slash (Guns N Roses/Velvet Revolver)
Mick Mars (Motley Crue)
Tom Maxwell (Nothingface/HellYeah)

Dimebag has to be mine, Slowhand is probably second. I used to love Pantera and I've had their song Respect (edit: aka Walk) stuck in my head for the past week or so now. Got to love DD though.

EDIT: I see you threw in the KSE guys as well. I really got into them about three years ago and the song My Last Serenade is still my favourite song of all time probably. Of course I mean the original version with Jesse Leach, the one on The End of Heartache just isn't the same, Leach says the chorus much better in that song, I think. I love their drummer Tom Gomes so much though, maybe my favourite drummer of all time.

Dammit, thanks Ward. I left off John Petrucci, Joe Satriani, and one of the best guitar players on earth wether you like his weird ass persona or not Buckethead!

Yeah, I call it Respect though, mostly because the guy who I got that album from gave it to me on a burned CD and called it Respect instead of Walk. I've downloaded the song many times on different computers, on limewire there are a bunch with both names.

See Im in the minority on Killswitch I prefer Howard Jones to Leach. But yeah their guitarists are hellatalented, I play My Curse and Fixation On The Darkness to warm up on guitar gets the fingers movin and the wrists loose.

My two absolute favourites are:

Robert Randolph( dont no if u guys have heard of him but he is nuts, he plays a thirteen string steel guitar)

Jeff Healey ( a canadian, who was a guitar prodigy and is actually blind, he is unbelievable, his version of my guitar gently weeps is the best on out there

Also i saw Santana a couple of years ago and he was a amazing, i also love john Fruiscante of RHCP, he has rally become a great guitarist.

I used to like Jones more than Leach, but only because of the song Declaration where at the beginning he does that grunt thing with his voice like 13 seconds into the song or so. That was when I first got into KSE though.

Their guitarists are ridiculously talented in my original edited post I put in Adam Dutkiewicz when I was talking about their drummer because he was their drummer for a while. You know you are talented when you can be as good of a drummer as he was and then switch to guitar and be incredible. That guy is ridiculously talented.

Sure, maybe, but he might not be everyone's favourite. I love a lot of Hendrix songs, but his best some from my ears is All Along the Watchtower. I can't stop listening to that song, It has the most times played of any song on my iTunes at 286 right now.

most of the guys you all listed. im also pretty partial to Tom Morello(big ups to who gave him a mention) because he is very skilled and does some of the craziest **** you'll ever see with killswitches and whammy pedals. he just did stuff no one ever really did and made it work and its awesome for their type of music. Randy Rhoads is another one of my faves, his style is flawless. One of the newer guys that is pretty good is the dude from Thrice. Rock is really lacking in the "guitar hero" department these days. Big ups to the dudes from Shadows Fall though, and believe it or not the dude from Disturbed was sick wit it on "Believe".

So if you don't respect musicians that use drugs I assume you don't listen to them either which leads me to conclude that you live a sheltered and quiet existence.

Alright first of all Robert Randolph techincally plays pedal steel....
As for my list:

Herman Li and Sam Totman- Dragonforce, yea their music is really cheezy but you know what try playing it for me. Herman is the asian one and is the nasty one in the band so folks....look at this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x96hXWAWtSM&mode=related&search=
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VEESPSMxafA

Stevie Ray Vaughan- fastest fingers on the heaviest strings...RIP

John Petrucci, Steve Vai, Joe Satriai- All part of G3, All sick, All from Long Island....All Talented!

Tom Morello- How can you not have him on this list. He is going down as the smartest guitarist as that, Harvard grad! Nasty at the guitar and RATM is just the ****.....

Alex Lifeson- Thats right all you Rush fans, this one goes out to you....He can play all types of music and I love his sound....Also love his guitars....

Adrian Smith and Dave Murray- These two guys go together becuase they were in Iron Maiden together. Each of them alone are ok, but together they are just sensational...great clean sound with blues influence...Just Classic guys in one of the greatest Metal bands....

Mike McCready and Stone Gossard- another dynamic tag team of guitar players, they are just great at what they do. Love Pearl Jam. These guys turn blues, rock, and grunge into a breathe of fresh air.

Yngwie Malmsteen- he is so good, blues + metal fuzed together...this guy can fly....
Bassists:

Steve Harris- Iron Maiden, my favorite band, great hard nosed, hard playing bassist...

Flea- Great guy, plays his ass off

Victor Wooten- best bassist living play what this guy plays...

This guy knows nothing about Creed. I have followed them since before they even released "My Own Prison" on Wind Up and Scott Stapp has always been a douchebag. Don't get me wrong, I love their music, and Mark Tremonti is awesome, but Stapp has some SERIOUS issues. Acid, weed, booze, you name it. He's a certified drunk and washup at this point. He took the whole Jim Morrison emulation thing a little too seriously. And the Christian thing is overplayed...

victor wooten, while he's innovative, is far from the best bassist i've ever heard. you guys should try some studio musicians jam. not only do they have every possible scale memorized, it actually sounds like music the entire way through. wooten in small doses is alright, but overall he's a bit overrated.
