View Full Version : Round One DE

OK, DE is our biggest need, IMO. Like many of you, I'm really hoping one of the big three falls to us. But that may not happen. So rank your top 5 DEs and say which ones are worthy of first round selection by the Titans.

My list:

1. Gaines Adams (this one is obvious, and he won't fall to us, so it's moot)
2. Adam Carricker (this is the guy I REALLY want. I think he'll instantly upgrade our run defense and will keep teams from double teaming KVB in the passing game. He could also move inside, as Carter did, on passing downs...allowing Laboy to come in)
3. Jamaal Anderson (the last of the big three, and he last one worth drafting at 19, IMO. Anderson has TONS of potential, and I know Washburn could make a stud out of him)
4. Anthony Spencer (this guy should be getting more publicity. He's a great player and would upgrade our line...but I think 19 would be a reach for him. If we trade down in round one, we should grab him)
5. Charles Johnson (I'm not big on Moss, so Johnson is my next guy. It's possible he will fall to our second round spot, but not overly likely. If he does, he'd be a great pick)

Note that there are well over 10 guys I think are worthy of day one picks, which means we don't have to reach in round one. If we don't get one of the big three, we should look elsewhere, IMO.

since gaines adams is out of the question the only DE's id take in the first where we currently are is carriker and anderson. but to be honest id rather have ginn over them cause i believe wr is our biggest need.

Not considering Gaines Adams (who will be long gone by #19), I'd say:

1. Adam Carriker
2. Jamaal Anderson
3. Charles Johnson
4. Victor Abiamiri
5. Anthony Spencer

All those guys are pretty good against the run, which I think whatever DE we take needs to be. Actually, there are probably 7-8 DEs available in the first 3 rounds that I think would be fits for us (including Woodley, Crowder, Atkins, etc.).

1. Gaines Adams
2. Jamaal Anderson
3. Adam Carriker
4. Quintin Moses
5. Jarvis Moss

I'm with the rest of you. If we don't get one of the big three, then we should wait. I'll show Quintin Moses some love here at the number four spot. I don't see how someone can be a top five pick one year and a low second rounder the next. I happen to be a college athlete, too, and my junior year was better than my senior year. I can't explain it; it just happened that way. So, Quintin, do it for me!

We need a pass rush specialist like the guys listed below I think that adam carriker doesn't fit what we need in round two or three.

1.Lamar Woodley
2. Charles Johnson
3. Quentin Moses
4. Victor Abamiri
5. Mr. Crowder

1. Gaines Adams - Maybe he falls down the stairs the day before the draft, breaks his ankle, and falls to 19? Eh?
2. Jamaal Anderson - I'm really hoping he falls. Kinda tied with Carriker for #2 DE, but he probably has more potential.
3. Adam Carriker - More solid against the run than Anderson, and I wouldn't mind picking him up. He may get selected before us, due to his ability to play in both the 4-3 and 3-4 defenses. It'd be neat to have 2 DE's from Nebraska tho.
4. Jarvis Moss - High ceiling. Can add on 20 more pounds. The last of the DE's I'd pick at 19.
5. Charles Johnson - The "Big Bully." Really outshown Moses during the season, and I couldn't help but notice him during the Georgia games I watched. Trade down to pick him tho.

Why take a DE in the first when we can land Alama-Francis in the second?

He will probably be there in the 3rd. Although has got a lot of hype lately.

If Anderson is there, i think we should grab him, huge steal IMO, i also wouldn't mind trading down some and grabing Moss.

Pit Bull #53

I like TitanHope's list. Only way I take a DE in the first is if Anderson or Carriker falls to us, which I don't think will end up happening. Maybe Jarvis Moss, but his immaturity scares me a little. But I actually think we'll end up having pick #30, which is another story in itself.

I'd like to grab one of the 2nd round DE's if they happen to fall to our pick. Charles Johnson, Abiamiri, and Crowder. I'd be happy with all of em. Alama-Francis too, but he may be there in the 3rd.

Really like Tim Crowder. I think he's gonna out-perform his draft position.

Note that according to ESPN draft magazine, over 40% of starting DEs in the NFL were drafted in the first round. That's the third highest, after QB and RB. That means that DEs are particularly hard to find after the first round. This year may be an exception, however. There is more depth at DE this year than I have ever seen since following the draft. As long as we get a DE on day one, I will be happy. But I'm still praying that we get one of the big three somehow.
