word is that the winner of Chuck VS. Wand gets #1 contender spot, I dont think that Chuck deserves another shot, he got owned twice by Rampage.
I want to see Jardine VS. Forrest rematch and the winner gets Rampage.

I guess they are setting up Rampage a match where odds are he kills somebody to build his name up. Bisping didnt beat Hamil then he is up for the #1 contender spot. And Rashad didnt beat Tito. I dont get that one at all.

Just because of the big names I'm sure the winner of Wand vs Liddell will fight Rampage, while that happens we can get the rest of the division straightened out

I want Houston Alexander to fight Wand or Chuck.
I want Houston Alexander to fight Wand or Chuck.
Hes going to have to beat Thiago Silva first which should not be as easy as everyone thinks.
I don't think Rampage is super excited to fight any Chute Boxe guys again, even after Shogun's poor showing last month.

yep, I don't see how Liddell gets a shot because he just lost 2 Jardine and got killed by Rampage. Rampage killed him twice I dont see why he gets it. He will never beat Rampage unless there is some fluke, Rampage is in his prime and Liddell is old and his time is over basically unless he switches up his style.

I would not say all of that now. Liddell definitely has a legitimate chance to beat Rampage, it just hasnt happened in the 2 fights. Theres no doubt Rampage is the better fighter right now but as long as Chuck Liddell has his hands he will always stand a chance of winning any fight. Should we automatically count Rampage out of a fight against Wandy since Wandy so easily handeled him twice? No! Would anyone have imagined Couture being the HW champion after Chuck decisively handled him twice? No! This is the reason they fight the fights instead of going by records.
Regardless of all this though I trully believe the UFC is going to have the winner of Bisping/Evans fight Forrest to set up the #1 contenders match. It makes too much sense, it will be the most marketable fight they have at that weight because most of the US audience are fans of TUF so they are all familiar with all 3 of the fighters (Griffin, Evans, and Bisping) Not to mention Rampage is out until the early parts of 2008.

The thing is Rampage is in his prime and improved a lot since the last Wanderlie fight, he didnt eat 3 days before the fight for religious purposes also, while Liddell is declining due to age. And Couture beat arguably the least talented UFC champion ever in Sylvia.
I dont think either Evans or Bisping deserve a title shot, they are both coming off very controversial matches.
I still think the best thing to do is Jardine VS. Forrest re-match and the winner faces Rampage.

Melvin is a tough mother ******. His biggest problem against Anderson would be his reach disadvantage.

As much as I cant stand the way Sylvia fights some people underrate him so badly. He's 20-something and 3 with wins over Brandon Vera, Andrei Arlovski twice (do not forget a year ago people were saying AA was Fedors only competition int he world) Ricco Rodriguez (the good Ricco) Jeff Monson, and Ben Rothwell (top 10 HW IMO) I give Randy a ton of credit for beating Sylvia in that fight.
Also I do not think Bisping deserves a title shot either but Evans I believe is coming close to where he needs to be to get one, if he were to beat Bisping and then Griffin why wouldnt he deserve a shot at the title? Who else deserves one in front of Griffin or Evans? I mean a case could be made for either of them as it could for anyone. A lot of people around here talk about Houston Alexander in the title picture and hes done a whole lot less than either Evans or Griffin. Call me crazy but I think Evan's KO of Jason Lambert and KO to Sean Salmon were more impressive than Houston KO-ing Jardine and Sakara.
I don't know, the Jardine KO was pretty impressive. Jardine is a good striker with a tough chin and he got mauled.
Ravens1991
10-27-2007, 08:45 AM
yep that KO amazed me. It was hilarious because Jardine was talking before complaining about how "He should be fighting contenders and not new guys". That was vicious. In a way maybe Alexander caught Jardine because Jardine knocked Alexander to his butt then went in for the kill but Alexander gave a vicious strikes inside the clinch.

I think he provides the best shot to take Anderson.

So who does everybody got in the Liddell VS. Wand fight?
At 1st I had Liddell due to his counter punching style, but after the Jardine fight who knows. Wand will come in like a bat out of hell which was made for Liddell style, but Chuck seems to be regressing. I hope Wand wins he is like the Ray Lewis of MMA(with his stare downs and the fear he puts into people).
I cant pick against Wandy, he has been my man for years. Chuck keeps looking worse & worse out there so even though Wand is on a bit of a losing streak, hes lost to a lot better competition (including some HW's) than Chuck has.
War Silva!!!!!!!!
I say Wandy but I wouldn't be surprised to see Chuck catch him. You can never count Chuck out because all it takes is one of his punches to KYTFO.

yea I dont see how people bash Wandy for losing to CC, he lost to the best MMA striker in his prime and unless you are Mark Hunt a human will go down by that head kick. Plus he had the flu against Hendo.
I would love a Rampage VS. Silva re-match if Silva wins.
How is Liddells Thai clinch?

Lets get real here, It is not like Cro COp is some huge HW. Cro Cop is a LHW who refuses to fight at LHW. Wandy outweighed him in that fight and was a visibly bigger fighter. That fight was last year so how was Cro Cop in his prime then and not now. One year does not make that big of a difference. Also the best MMA striker is without a doubt Anderson Silva, Cro Cop may have the best left kick but hes not the best MMA striker.
Ravens1991
11-01-2007, 10:36 AM
One year can make a difference, CC seems to be smaller now compared to this year, plus he got KO by the left kick, I meant to say that he has the best left kick that is almost unstoppable.
Wandy wasnt bigger than Cro Cop in that fight, If I remember correctly when Wand would fight at HW he would be around 210 lbs (he isnt even big for a LHW, hes weighed in at under 205 for fights before). Cro Cop was always in the mid 220's.
I don't think Cro Cop could make 205 at all either, at 6'2 he is pretty cut, there isnt much weight to lose on his frame. He isnt like Vera who could pretty easily slim away his flab and fight at 205.
Ravens1991
11-01-2007, 01:30 PM
I think CC could make it to 205 but he would have to cut out a ton of water.

Cro Cop could easily make 205 and hes even acknowledged the fact that he could but doesnt want to cut any weight. After his recent 2 losses a lot of people are calling for Cro Cop to drop down to 205 because of the surplus of huge HW's in the UFC (Sylvia, Kongo, Gonzaga, Lesnar etc)
weigh in for the fight:
Wanderlei Silva (225.1 lbs.) vs. Mirko CroCop (220.9 lbs.)
yep I didnt even know Hunt had a JJ move in him. Hunt is a beast and with Fedor out of the UFC he is my pick to take the belt.
I think you are letting your personal appreciation for Hunt blind you a bit. He is a decent fighter, fringe top 10, definite top 15. I think a guy like Gonzaga could neutralize Hunt pretty handedly. The only way I see Hunt taking any title is if someone is stupid enough to try and bang with him. FWIW I have a sinking feeling that Tim "the sloth" Sylvia will be the Champ again. Its definitely between him and Nog IMO and I could easily see the trend of Pride fighters under performing show its face again in a fight between Nog and Tim.
Ravens1991
11-01-2007, 02:26 PM
yes I admit that me being a fan of someone gets in the way of things, but I think he has good tools to do well at HWT, he has a rock hard chin and good strikes, his ground game needs major improvement, but if he is almost Kimuraing Fedor he is showing improvment but he could have caught Fedor.

Main Card Bouts:

-Karo Parisyan vs. Ryo Chonan
-Spencer Fisher vs. Frankie Edgar
-Houston Alexander vs. Thiago Silva
-David Terrell vs. Ed Herman
Preliminary Bouts:
-Thiago Alves vs. Chris Lytle

Heres that card if you were curious what the rest of it looked like. A lot of people are bitching about the star power (or lack there of) on this card, but I am really digging it. Fisher vs Edgar should be a war, I am really excited about Chonan vs Parisyan as well. Alexander vs Silva should be a slug fest unless Silvas smart enough to take it to the ground. I am very excited to see David Terrell back on the main card I'd like to see him fight his way back into title contention. Even the undercard is pretty solid.

The whole card is pretty solid. Finally we might get to see if Alexander has any ground skills since hes facing Silva. The lack of a true main event (both Evans and Bisping both should have lost their last fights) is what weighs this card down but all together I look at it and its pretty solid.

Silva should be leaps and bounds better than Alexander on the ground from training at Chute Boxe but he is a power puncher who loves the KO so I think he will keep it standing. I actually think as a whole Silva's striking is better than Alexanders but Alexander has the advantage in power. If Thiago can use Kicks to create distance and knees when clinched up I see him winning this one. Thiago is one of my favorite young fighters he has a ton of potential and IMO will be a champion one day. He reminds me of what would happen if Shogun and Wandy had a love child.

Also the UFC game isnt due out this summer, its still a ways off I believe. They just started it at the beginning of 07, the constantly changing UFC roster is probably a ***** for the programmers as well.
I think the game is scheduled for a Q4 release so it should be out late next year.
Yeah Mir vs Lesnar has been announced on UFC.com, also Joe Stevenson vs BJ Penn for the title at UFC 80 as well
For the interim title, the winner still has to fight Sean Sherk ASSUMING Sherk gets through his hearings. It seems like Dana doesn't care either way if Sherk tested positive or not, I sense some favoritism towards Sherk.

I think Dana said he was fed up with the whole process so he is giving Sherk benefit of the doubt.

I read about this on Sherdog, I think its a dumb move for Silva. Any 205 fighter with decent take downs will slam Anderson down and hold him there. Rampage vs Silva would not go good for Silva IMO.

BJ submits Stevenson round 1. If it goes more than 3 Stevenson will win.
BJ submits Stevenson round 1. If it goes more than 3 Stevenson will win.
Thats the smart bet for any BJ Penn fight. 1-2 hes the favorite round 3 is usually even, 4-5 are favored to his opponent. Thats why its so frustrating to be a BJ Penn fan, its obvious the guy has one of, if not the most impressive skill set he just eats too much poi before fights. I have hope that his conditioning will be up to par now that he has to make 155.
On a side note, I see people talking about MMA DVD's that sale at best buy has been bad ass. I bought the 5 disc set that I believe is pride 22-28 for 15 bucks. Rounds out to a nice 3 bucks per dvd and also includes great fights such as Fedor vs Nog, Rampage vs Randleman, Dan Henderson vs Nog, Wandy vs Rampage, Anderson Silva vs Newton, so on and so on.
The sale was so nice I went back before school and bought 2 more dvds for like 5 bucks each. I have Bushido 5 and Shockwave 2005. I am dying to get home and watch them, Shockwave contains Henderson vs Bustamante, Gomi vs Sakurai, Arona vs Wandy, Cro Cop vs Hunt and theres even a giant silva sighting! My goal is to get every Pride event on DVD.

I got that Fedor VS. Nog and Rampage Randleman DVD and that is a great one. I love that sale I wanna get back there before it ends.

Rampage is unstoppable. He is just too big and too quick. I would love to see that fight although Rampage Jackson would destroy Silva.
I cant wait to see how Lesnar does in UFC 81. He diffinitely has the potential but how good is he at martial arts? I know he is a great wrestler from his days at Minnesotta.

Striking - Silva

Its a match that Silva could win, he has length and probably the best striking in MMA but if Rampage came in to the fight with the right game plan, using his strengths against Silvas weakness' he would win more times than he'd lose.
Ravens1991

yep I gotta agree with CCBG, with working out in training I think Silva comes in at 195-200, Rampage through cutting weight and refueling would come in at around 215-220(just estimates for both guys) I think Rampage wins.
I would like to see Anderson VS. Wand, both have black belts in BJJ but prefer to stand and strike.
fenikz
11-07-2007, 02:19 PM
Silva said his natural weight was 97 Kg which is 213 pounds, so right now he is cutting 27 pounds to fight in MW, I'd bet that rampage is about 230 and then cuts down 25 pounds to fight in HW so it's pretty even their
The main reason i'd bet on Silva is that the last time Rampage fought someone like him(BBJ guy with great striking) was Shogun and he got destroyed

My Opponent:

As dominate as warmachine was early with the chokes the farmboy just was overwhelming in mount. Great great fight.
Sokoudjou to the UFC? I think its pretty unbelievable he'd have a deal signed and ready to fight by Dec. I think Sokoudjou is the future of MMA hes only like 23 or 24 he has amazing Judo, Dynamite in his hands, and trains with the likes of Dan Henderson. Whats not to love? Give Soko 2 fights in the UFC and Soko> Rampage. Styles make matchups and I think Sokoudjou is not the type of fighter Rampage wants to fight.

Alexander is fighting Thiago Silva (chute boxe) later this month so he would not be on that card. For the record I have Thiago winning. I think the best matchup from a talent standpoint that we could see would be Sokoudjou vs Machida. He is the only LHW I can think of that would be ready to fight by than. IMO its a bad fight for Soko, I think Machida is a legitimate top 10 LHW if not top 5. He is so methodical with the way he fights it could throw Sokoudjou's wildness off. The fight I'd like to see is Shogun vs Soko but I doubt this will happen because I'd imagine the UFC would be trying to get Shogun to get some wins under his belt. you might wanna lower your stance a bit kinda like a wrestling stance. Did he have boots in? You could have hit a tri-pod.
If you can get a sprawl in on a standard single or double leg shot with long legs it makes it very quick & easy to transition into rear mount.
Work on that sprawl my friend, remember one forearm on the back of his neck one on his back pushing him down and away as your legs sprawl back. Then just swing your legs around and try work in the hooks or a body triangle of some sort and you're so money.

a good way after you sprawl to stop him driving into you is to put your hands onto his thighs. It will make it a lot tougher on him to finish. Then push off his this and you got a front headlock or guilitone.

I dont really get all this Kimbo hype, he beat up a couple of bums off the street and now people act like he will be able to take the MMA by storm. I will go out on a limb and say every single HWT fighter in the UFC could KO the bums Kimbo fought in under a minute. Then he gets into MMA and he beats up a 47 year old man and a can that probably didnt try his hardest. I guess him having the bad street fighter from the hood persona around him really helps his marketing.

If the cuts were really bad then it's a wise move, Ricky Hatton has had it done a couple of times and if anything he doesn't cut up as bad now as he did before as the scar tissue gets cleaned out I believe.
Without the cuts I believe Nick would have came back and made a fight out of it, it was a 5 round fight, he has amazing cardio, and is notorious for starting out slow and coming on strong late. Maybe this will lead him to learn to not just throw a band aid of a gash and let it heal that way.

New Shogun interview, very professional and I see him bouncing back well.
MMA Madness Q&A: One-on-one with Mauricio "Shogun" Rua
Mauricio “Shogun” Rua joined the UFC this summer after an illustrious career with PRIDE. His first match in the Octagon didn’t go as planned, however, as Rua succumbed to Forrest Griffin. MMA Madness’ Ben Zeidler caught up with Rua to see how he is doing. Here are highlights of the email interview.
MMA Madness: How is married life working out?
Rua: It's ok. I'm moving [to] a new home -- an apartment here in Curitiba. There are a lot of things to arrange but I think that [by] Christmas I will be in my new home. Now that I am recovering from the surgery and not training it is good to use my free time to [over]see everything about my new home.
MMA Madness: Can you tell us a little bit about the Forrest Griffin fight? Was he what you prepared for?
Rua: I don´t like to give excuses -- I lost and that's it, period. Nothing went right. I assume this -- the injury -- interfered in my training, in [especially] the kicks and [with running]. I had a lot of new things in my life: [a] wedding and a new home. But no problem, let´s move ahead. I don´t want to talk about the past, let´s see what is coming next. I'm very young and I know that I can get the UFC belt in the future. I will be back better than ever. All the fighters can follow [their] opponents, with the internet and the show[s] on TV. We can see the skills of our opponents -- Forrest was very well trained [and] I respect that.
MMA Madness: How much did the hurt knee affect your ability to train and compete at your top level?
Rua: We are living a very professional moment in MMA [so] the difference between the fighters is very small. [It] was difficult to run and to kick with my injury and when you have some injury your confidence is not the same -- every time you are concern[ed] about it.
MMA Madness: Do you think that you would train differently if you ever got the chance to fight him again?
Rua: For sure, probably in the future we will fight again. Now I'm thinking [about] my [recovery and] go[ing] back to train[ing] and let's see what's happen in the future.
MMA Madness: Would you be interested in a rematch with Griffin in the future or are you looking ahead to Rampage Jackson?
Rua: I had the promise from UFC that with a victory against Forrest I would have a shot for the belt that actually is with Rampage. Unfortunately I lost [so it’s] necessary to review all the plans and I know that I will need to make a new journey for the belt.
MMA Madness: What's been happening with Rampage? He got beat up bad by you and by Wanderlei Silva in PRIDE and now he looks like a different fighter. Would you expect a fight with him to go the same way as it did before?
Rua: Life is funny, no? Quinton Jackson comes to UFC after three terrible defeats in PRIDE ([losing to] me [once] and Wanderlei twice). Now, he has the UFC belt. I think that he has more experience now. After the victory against Liddell he is very confident and [it] is difficult to guarantee that one fight will be the same [as] an old one -- every fight is totally different from [the] other[s].
MMA Madness: I was talking to “Big” John McCarthy not too long ago, and he said that PRIDE and UFC were very different due to the ring size. He said that he noticed that you were having trouble getting to Forrest because of the different angles of the UFC cage. However, when I talked to your brother Murilo, he said that whether it's in a ring or a cage doesn't matter. Who do you agree with here?
Rua: Yes, in the cage the fight is more aggressive -- there [are] no corners to give a break, but I already fought in the cage [so it’s] no problem. My defeat doesn't have any thing [to do] with the cage or ring.
MMA Madness: Why do you think that PRIDE fighters are having such a tough time with UFC fighters?
Rua: [It] is just a coincidence. Just see Rampage -- he has the belt now. Do you think that he is having [a] tough time in UFC?
MMA Madness: Do you prefer fighting in PRIDE or UFC?
Rua: No preference.
MMA Madness: You've defeated most of the top 205-pounders. Which win was the biggest?
Rua: No one [is] the biggest, but there are some very important [wins] in my career. [My victory] against Minotauro [Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira] was very tough; [my win] against Rampage was very important in that moment; and for sure [my win] against [Ricardo] Arona when I won PRIDE Grand Prix.
MMA Madness: Where do you rank yourself among the 205-pounders?
Rua: I run to be the number one. I want to be with the tops and fight against them.
MMA Madness: Are there any fighters out there you'd like to fight?
Rua: No preference. I never choose opponents. Now that I lost, I can't think about [that]. I must fight and prove that I can have [the] UFC belt, no matter against whom.
MMA Madness: Would you fight Wanderlei if he had the belt?

MMA Madness: Who do you think will win the following fight: Murilo "Ninja" Rua vs. Xavier Foupa-Pokam?
Rua: Ninja for sure. He's training hard; he wants a lot the Cage Rage belt; [and] he deserves it.
MMA Madness: Chuck Liddell vs. Wanderlei Silva?
Rua: Very tough fight. Both are very aggressive and [both are] strikers. I just know that this fight will finish before the second round.
MMA Madness: "Shogun" Rua vs. Forrest Griffin II?
Rua: I want to be back in better shape, well prepared, and I know that I can beat him.

Chuck is training with Fhilo.
perhaps we see more ground game outta Chuck, he was a decent D-1 wrestler so I think he can work TDs.
I doubt we see chuck shoot in for a takedown, especially considering Silva has pretty decent submission skills, certainly much better than chuck's on the ground.

There are sokoudjou fights, he is the most talented fighter in 205 and is 23. Watch the Nog fight, that left was so quick I had 2 replay it a couple of times to see it. and Nog is a Brazilian boxing champion. He showed good takedown defense against Arona who is a great wrestler.
CCBG's UFC 78 Predictions
MAIN EVENT
Rashad Evans vs. Michael Bisping
I think this fight is Rashads for the taking. If he fights the smart fight theres no way I cannot see him winning this. He needs to take Bisping down and GNP him. He must be careful though because Bisping is slick with the BJJ so I hope Evans has been training his submission defense. If Evans chooses to stand with Bisping hes a fool IMO and I could see Bisping knocking him silly.
Prediction: Rashad Evans by Unanimous decision
MAIN CARD
Karo Parisyan vs. Ryo Chonan
I beg everyone, Do not, I repeat DO NOT sleep on Ryo Chonan. This should be a back and fourth fight in which I could see either fighter coming away with the win. Chonan is very well rounded, hes sick with the subs and I'd give him the edge in the stand up as well. With this said if Karo can throw him on his head a couple times and control him from the top he should get the decision.
Prediction: Karo Parisyan by Unanimous Decision
Spencer Fisher vs. Frankie Edgar
We have all heard it, "this fight has fight of the night written all over it" and its true. This is the fight I most look forward to, both of these fighters are in one word, relentless. There will be no giving up in this fight, look for everything from battles striking, to smooth transitions and battles for position on the ground. Spencer Fisher is a proven commodity in the UFC but I am riding Edgars bandwagon hard and I think he is the future of the UFC LW division and guess what, the future is now.
Prediction: Edgar by split decision
Houston Alexander vs. Thiago Silva
Ah finally a break in the decisions. I do not see anyway this fight goes to the judges. Alexander is a powerful boxer who is devastating in the clinch. If he can tangle up Silva in the clinch and dirty box him Thiago will have a long short night, if that makes sense. Thiago could easily dominate this fight if he does not get baited into Alexanders game. He cannot afford to stand close and trade shots with Alexander because he will get KTFO. The keys to this fight for Silva is he needs to use his length to keep Alexander at a distance, he needs to get the fight to the ground ASAP and use his BJJ to win the fight for him. Silva's BJJ is leagues better than Alexanders ground game and his cardio should be far superior as well (check out how tired Alexander was in the Sakara fight) If this fight gets past the 1st round its SIlvas for the taking, though I am not positive if Alexander will let him out of the first round. I am going to go with the mini upset here...
Prediction: Silva via Submission (rear naked choke) 2nd Round
Joe Doerksen vs. Ed Herman
Joe Doerksen is a very underrated fighter. He is slick with submissions and a veteran having faced some tough opponents. I like Ed Herman and I think should come out fired up in an attempt to avenge his previous loss to Joe Doerksen, However I just do not see it happening.
Prediction: Joe Doerksen via Submission (Triangle Choke) 3rd round
Preliminary Bouts:
Thiago Alves vs. Chris Lytle
Thiago Alves is a beast, I love his potential and I think he is a future contender in the WW division. He reminds me of a mini Wandy, which it was not surprising to find out he has modeled his game after Silva. Lytle is a tough mother ****** and I think his gameplan will be to come in and use counter punches to try and pick apart Alves. I think Alves wider variety of weapons will overcome Lytle. I look for Alves to use leg kicks to pick apart Lytle the same way he did in his last fight. I think Lytle is too tough to finish off but I see this going in favor of Alves
Prediction: Thiago Alves via Unanimous Decision
Akihiro Gono vs. Tamdan McCrory
I am sad this is on the under card because I look forward to Gono's extravagent entrances. I think the move down to WW will help Gono out, I think his expirence willl be the difference maker in this fight against the younger inexperienced McCrory who I think is a great prospect but this fight will be a small blemish on his record.
Prediction: Gono via TKO 3rd round
Marcus Aurelio vs. Luke Caudillo
I do not know much about Caudillo, so I wont act like I do, think the Pride veteran Aurelio can take this one.
Prediction Aurelio via submission (rear naked choke)
Joe Lauzon vs. Jason Reinhardt
Everything in this fight points to Joe Lauzon winning, He is superior in almost every category and he has moved to Hilo and has been training with BJ Penn so I really see no way how he cannot beat the less expirenced (and almost 15 years older) Jason Reinhardt
Prediction: This will stop in the 1st round some way or another via Sub, KO, Decapitation, something.
Also tonight, is the strikeforce card, seems like an amusing card to me. I believe its being aired free on Yahoo Sports.
-Cung Le vs. Sam Morgan:
There is no doubting Le's stand up abilities but there is a lot of doubting of everything else. Sam Morgan is a TUF can and shouldnt present a problem.
Cung Le via KO round 1
-Paul Buentello vs. Alistair Overeem:
Overeem is one of my personal favorites and I'd like to see him get back on track but Buentello is an underrated HW and he can over power the demolition man. Im going with my heart on this one over my brain (which thinks Buentello will knock Overeem silly)
Overeem via KO
-Bobby Southworth vs. Anthony Ruiz
Not much to say here, Southworth keeps the belt.
Southworth via TKO
4-Man Middleweight Tournament
-Falaniko Vitale vs -Trevor Prangley
I feel Prangley is head and shoulders above the rest of this group of fighters, i think he starts his quest by TKO of Vitale via GNP
-Jorge Santiago vs Yuki Sasaki
I like Santiago in this one, he trains one of the best camps in MMA and he is versed submission artist with underrated striking ability. He has recently secured a win over Jeremy Horn via submission which is not easy to do.
Jorge Santiago via KO round 2
Jorge Santiago vs Trevor Prangley
Again I think Trevor is far superior to this group of guys, but I think if anyone knocks him off it will be Santiago. I think Santiagos only chance of winning comes if Prangley takes him down and Santiago can pull a submission from the guard.
I'll take Trevor Prangley via Unanimous decision

I only missed one fight in my predictions. I think I should be titled MMA Guru on NFLDC.
If Hendo and Anderson fight, Hendo will win as long as he doesnt get baited into a slugfest. Anderson's weakness is a good wrestler and Henderson is more than good.
Ravens1991
11-18-2007, 01:45 PM
true Hendo has good takedowns, if he can defend Andersons triangle he has a shot, but you cant count either of them out because the fight can end at any moment with them.

Ravens1991
11-18-2007, 03:53 PM
That will be the fight of 2008.
Hendo will need to have a takedown gameplan and to watch out for submissions from the bottom man. Antonio will wanna slug but if he gets taken down will look for triangles.

Just wondering, am I the only one who thought that Henderson beat Rampage?
I had him 48-47
Ravens1991
11-18-2007, 04:09 PM
Hendersons game plan
-Push for takedowns-be a agressive wrestler and get takedowns and control Anderson, be aggressive on top so he won't get triangled, but don't gas because if it is standing up he will get hurt.
-Avoid thai clinch-Unless you are a robot you will die in Andersons clinch his knees are vicious
-Look for over/under-He is very good with the over/under, he took Rampage down various times with trips from there. He is a greco Roman wrestler so he will need to look for that.
-Work on submission defense from top guard-Anderson has long legs and a nice triangle from bottom so he will need to be careful, but dont lay and pray that will hurt him.
Anderson game plan
-Keep it standing-He is the best striker in MMA he will need to keep it standing, he will need to work on takedown defense from the over/under and strikes from the over/under because Henderson will be looking for that
-Work on bottom-He has a nice triangle but if he gets taken down he may stay there. He will need to be able to get out of mount/side mount/half-guard and get into guard to get out of bottom.
Ravens1991

Just wondering, am I the only one who thought that Henderson beat Rampage?
I had him 48-47
I had him with round 1, round 2 was tough to call, he got a takedown, but Rampage reversed him and had 5 more seconds of riding time so that is even. Rampage won round 3, Hendo slipped and stayed on his back so Rampage won round 4. Henderson won round 5. I will need to watch round 2 again before I make the final decision.

Fedor Emelianenko vs Kevin Randleman
Tyson Griffin vs Frankie Edgar
Clay Guida vs Tyson Griffin
GSP vs Jay Hieron

and when I can download more from megaupload I should have:

Georges St Pierre vs Frank Trigg
Matt Hughes vs Frank Trigg
Randy Couture vs Tim Sylvia
I need to get a BJ Penn fight and a Chuck Liddell fight, but none are really jumping out at me. I see Ravens already has Bushido 9, I believe Bushido 13 is really loaded as well. Critical Countdown 2005 is a great event; Wandy, Shogun, both Nog's, Cro Cop & a bunch of other top fighters are all on it.

Fedor 1st opponent is 7'2 it is a shame that his average competiton will probably be a guy with that ability.

I saw that as well, some people on the sherdog forums are saying HMC is a decent striker, I haven't seen him personally but I will be very surprised if Fedor doesn't whoop him on the ground inside a round

Has anybody tried Judo? My dad wants to sign me and him up. I said to him I would do it. Does it hurt to get thrown? Thanks for answers.
Hong Man Choi is actually a pretty accomplished K1 kick boxer. I would even go as far as to say his striking skills on the feet are better than Fedors. With this said he should still be no problem for Fedor as long as Fedor can drag him to the ground. But do not underrate Choi too much, hes not the best competition but hes not a complete can either.

Matt Serra is OUT at UFC 79.
Dana White needs to make something happen. Hughes vs GSP maybe?

I've never done Judo but I did Kenpo for along time and wrestling so I'm used to being thrown, I'm sure a few time you will fall wrong and it will kind of hurt but Judo not only teaches you how to throw but how to be thrown so after awhile you will be fine

No way GSP can take a fight on 5 weeks notice, who even knows if he is in fighting shape right now, plus they just did the whole TUF thing so if GSP beat Hughes all that build up would go to waste. But a replacement fight is needed that was a huge blow to the card, Fedor vs Couture would be very nice right about now.

****!!!!!!! THAT SUCKS
It's still a damn good card though. It's going to be very tough for Dana to find a legitimate replacement fight. I don't think he's going to bring in someone else to fight Hughes. Hughes has earned his title shot against Serra and Dana would much rather delay the fight a month or two then just give a shot to someone else.

doubt that dana replaces it, he know chuck vs wand will sell and serra vs hughes gives him another PPV headliner.....kind of g a y, but it is how the business works.

yea if Hughes loses that will hurt the broadcasting.
Rumors of replacements are Thiago Alves and Jon Finch. IMO Hughes wants no part of Finch because he will beat him and then Hughes is left with no title shot, unless of course, theyd be fighting for an interim title, but thats only if Serra is out long term.

the thing is if it isn't a title fight, It will hurt all that TUF hype, I predict they send out a can for Hughes to kill and build momentum.
