I'm not saying that Woodley is a bad player, but how can you take him over the best center in the draft? Especially when center is a need. There is a good chance Woodley will be an OLB, we've always done a good job at getting our lb's later in the draft. Not drafting Kalil in the 2nd round was a huge mistake.

I totally agree Kallil was one of the safest picks in the whole draft....hey Latrobe I'm from greensburg

Kalil is undersized for pitts offensive line...not a steeler oline type. Plus I think this pick speaks volumes about what is to come in the future. Woodley has the upfield burst to be a very good tampa 2 DE.

i think they like what we have at C for competition already,

we have a lot more depth there than we do at OLB

Thule, you couldn't be more wrong. Hartings, our retired C was about 6-3/295. Same size as Kalil. Dawson before him was about 6-2/290. That is the last 20 years of C's for the Steelers. None of the guys on the team competing for the C job are as good a Kalil. I am not a fan of Kalil, but I think it would have been a better pick than Woodley.

id say kalil has a chance to be a tad bit better than mahan / okobi / simmons / phillips

i think woodley has a chance to be a lot better than haggans

I think that Zierlein said he wants guys that can play G and C... He also said we have 4 guys competing for center, that it wasn't a need.

Woodley was a great pick. I think Timmons is going to take over for Farrior and when Woodley puts his hand down, he'll slide to SLB in the 4-3.

i think timmons goes to WLB in the 4 - 3

and woodley stays at DE in the 4 - 3

eh, i see timmons as more of the WLB,

I think he'd be the SLB because he would cover the TE. Harrison is more of a WLB.

Because we already have Mahan, we don't need him. We do however need the 2nd OLB.

With Porter gone this year and Haggans gone next we needed two outside linebackers not just one.

I can't wait till Timmons and Woodley are ready to crush skulls.

I was just about to say just that. He's too undersized for the type of offensive line that Pittsburgh has.

Undersized for our Line? He would be prototype size.

Hartings was identical size to Kalil when he came here.

Dawson was minutely bigger at C.

Webster was taller, but at 260-270lbs.

Our new coach wants a guy like Justin Blalock at C.

Mike Webster, while one of the best C's to have ever played the game, was built like linemen in the 70's, but that is not how linemen are built now.

Dawson, as well, not as big as most C's in the league, even though he was extremely aggressive.

Kalil fits best in a ZBS, which I think is why the Steelers didn't draft him.

I am perfectly fine with us drafting Lawrence Timmons and LaMarr Woodley since we needed the linebacking help very badly.
