Oh you meant at WR. I think he should earn that spot, but if he's healthy and doesn't start as KR then something is wrong.

because he's not a very good WR and wasn't healthy for most of last year, which cost him developmental time...

kubiak doesn't really like him, either...

He apparently doesnt want to do much more than return kicks....apparently is not prompt to meetings and stuff like that...Also Im sure that Mike Shanahan didnt have good things to say about Mathis to Kubiak when he was at the probowl and was late to a function there as well...

Basically he does not seem to want to improve on his WR skills and seems happy to be a dynamic KR....Id like to see him work hard on his routes and his hands because I think he'd be a bigtime threat....his rookie year he had a couple really big plays...But until he shows that he wants it as bad as Kevin Walter/Jacoby Jones...then he wont start..

he's a lazy guy and probably purely a kr. doesnt have anything but speed.

that and he has little to no change of direction ability, which hurts him in the route running department...

I said yes, but Capers probably just drafted him to return kicks. Why would Kubiak want him to do anything else? The guy has the potential to have a Devin Hester type year

he was drafted to be an impact WR, and kubiak would want him to be more from the simple standpoint that it's better to have one player that can perform multiple tasks than specialists...

Just because he is good in Madden because he is really fast... does not mean he is a legitimate #2 receiver.

He has 5, yes 5 career receptions so he obviously isn't anything the coaches like too much.

If he doesn't perform in practice then he can't play WR in games. No one will argue with you that it is a good thing to have versatile players but you can't make them better if they don't work at it.

From the pro-bowl incident to what I've heard about him he's lazy and will probably be nothing more than a KR,... until he does bad and gets released which happens when you are a one dimensional player.

Who brought up Madden?

I did, because it is the only legitimate reason I can think of for thinking that he should start next to Andre.
