View Full Version : 2007 NFL Standings Predictions

I know it's really early to start guessing how your team will do, but as I look at different threads and different posts, it seems that no one thinks their team will fall into the bottom five. Everyone thinks that their team will be the best thing since sliced butter, foam fingers or Revolution Helmets. I think it would be cool to get just random people posting what they think their teams (ONLY your team) record will be at the end of the year. At the end I'm going to count up all the wins and losses and see if it is anywhere near .500. Homerisms allowed (just be realistic), you can only choose one record (no 6-8 wins and 8-10 losses. Just one EX: 7-9) and no dissing other teams. I will average them out if there get to be a lot. Since I'm a Browns fan I'll start:

AFC North
Bengals- (11-5) 1 vote
Browns- (6.8-9.2) 5 votes
Ravens- (10.3-5.7) 3 votes
Steelers- (10-6) 2 votes

AFC South
Colts-(13-3) 1 vote
Jaguars-(10-6) 1 vote
Titans-(7-9) 1 vote
Texans-(6-10) 1 vote

AFC East
Bills-(7.7-8.3) 6 votes
Dolphins-(4-12) 1 vote
Jets-(10.5-5.5) 2 votes
Patriots-(13.5-2.5) 2 votes

AFC West
Broncos-(11.25-4.75) 4 votes
Chargers-(11.3-4.7) 3 votes
Chiefs-(9-7) 1 vote
Raiders-(5.7-10.3) 3 votes

NFC North
Bears-(11-5) 2 votes
Lions-(3.8-11.2) 4 votes
Packers-(8.3-7.7) 7 votes
Vikings-(8-8) 1 vote

NFC South
Buccaneers-(7-9) 3 votes
Falcons-(8.5-7.5) 4 votes
Panthers-(11-5) 1 vote
Saints-(12-4) 3 votes

NFC East
Cowboys-(10-6) 1 vote
Eagles-(12-4) 2 votes
Giants-(7-9) 1 vote
Redskins-(8-8) 1 vote

NFC West
49ers-(9.4-6.8) 5 votes
Cardinals-(8-8) 1 vote
Rams-(8-8) 1 vote
Seahawks-(11.5-4.5) 2 votes

NFC East

1) Eagles - but only if Mc Nabb stays healthy
2) Washington - Great HC has his QB in place-Look out!!
3) Cowboys - serious offensive problems, new HC, TO in his 2nd year on a team
4) Giants- kept their HC, lost Tiki, LT, LBers

NFL South

1) New Orleans - could go to the Super Bowl with more experience
2) Carolina - will go as far as Delhomme can carry them
3) Tampa Bay - limited by Cadillac's health
4) Atlanta - College HC's track record for recent success at the NFL level is pretty poor.

NFL North

1) Chicago - in a cakewalk - Grossman with a year under his belt could suprise a lot of people - definite Super Bowl contender
2) Vikings - Peterson if he stays healthy will give them an awesome running game and hide Jackson's inexperience.
3) Green Bay - Cannot overcome the loss of Green at RB
4) Detroit - 2 HC's, dysfuntional organization, Matt Millen = 3 to 5 wins

NFC West

1) Seattle - other teams are closing the gap but it was large to begin with
2) Arizona - finally have a QB who gives them the right to be ranked this high
3) San Fran - 2nd or 3rd but definitely closing fast
4) St. Louis - can make a run if 2nd year HC gets his act together

AFC East

1) New England - division has the toughest schedule in the AFC and New England has Brady. They will win this division until he retires or grows too old to be effective. Super bowl contender.
2) New York Jets - Solid for 2nd but schedule will keep them out of the playoffs
3) Buffalo - financial limitations means they have to use the draft to replace lost FA's instead of improving the weak points on the team. Cannot compete in the FA era!!!
4) Miami - Saban scooted out of town in a hurry after he realized how he blundered the QB position and left the team with no chance to compete.

AFC North

1) Cincy - Palmer is healthy again and if the defense holds up will challange for the Super Bowl position
2) Baltimore - I want to put Pittsburgh here but a new HC and defense raise too many question marks. Mc Nair has to have a solid season again or they'll challange the Browns for last.
3) Pittsburgh - Hiring of a new HC raised a huge question mark since he doesn't like the 3-4 and the draft definitely suggests they will switch to a 4-3 but do they have the personnel to be effective???
4) Browns - At least a year away from competing until Quinn gets some experience

AFC South

1) Indy - Manning and Dungy got over the hump, could a dynasty be in the making. I don't see a Super Bowl hangover for them.
2) Jacksonville - QB, QB, QB, people say you can win the Super Bowl without a great QB but in this era of great QB's, Jacksonville is very limited by the position
3) How great is Vince Young??? Is he a lot better than even we image or does he need some more weapons around him to take the next step??? WE'll find out this coming season!!!
4) Houston - I really think they will be the suprise team in the NFL this season and could finish 2nd in the division. People keep saying Shaub is unproven and nothing special but what if they are wrong and he's better than they think. Their defense is going to be special sooner than we think.

AFC West

1) San Diego - Turner held it together for 1 season in Washington when he inherited a good team before self destructing in his 2nd season. I look for San Diego to win 9 or 10 games this season before coming apart under Turner coaching in his 2nd year. That should be good enough in this weak division for the playoffs.
2) Denver - look to me to be a year away from serious contention, just too many holesw on defense right now to make the playoffs. However, if Cutler suprises they could challange San Diego.
3) Kansas City - is in a rebuilding mode, 5 or 6 wins at the most
4) Oakland - QB's who come to the pros as college juniors definitely need 3 years to be stars. 4 wins is all they will get and that's if Kiffin can handle the pressure. However, the AFC had better take note because if Oakland has another top 5 draft pick, in about 3 years when they all mature, this could be a top franchise ready to explode.

Panthers 11-5 winning the division. This will have us losing to Atlanta, New Orleans, once, Indy, Jax and an upset game somewhere.

Panthers have a cruisey schedule especially after going 5-1 in the division easily last year and not facing anything resembling an actual defense until week 9.

Still kept all their talent, about everywhere, but with a new coach and tougher schedule, could see a few more bumps in the road, and 14-2 will not be reached again. 12-4 though, thats certainly in the picture.

Norv Turner is their coach, so I'm going with 10-6. Talent wise easily 12-4, but with Turner at the helm, who I have no clue why they hired this guy, it knocks their win total down 2.

10-6 at best. You lost your top 5 coaches and replaced them with... Norv Turner... Have fun with that.

Yep, because the results created by other Cowboy teams is the best indicator for predicting what will happen with this team. I mean, let's not look at them for what they are, let's instead look at those past teams that are so relevant when trying to determine the potential for this current squad. After all, I'm sure the people affiliated with the Dallas Cowboys are all living in the past as well. Sounds like they're stuck in depths of mediocrity forever. Too bad for them.

Yeah, it's also too bad that Wade hasn't won a playoff game. Too bad he had to bring that horrible reputation to this completely new team of his. I guess we won't have a chance at the SB until we move to a new city and hire a HC with a few playoff wins under his belt. Having this giant hurdle of reputation is probably the toughest thing to overcome on the way to a trophy. Nothing to do with the actual football games that will be played this year. It's that damn reputation that's gonna hold us back. Oh well. Maybe if we can at least squeeze out a playoff win this year, we might be eligible for a Super Bowl appearance in '09.

Last year's Jets had a very easy schedule and finished the season 10-6. I would argue that we are better than they were and could have finished the same in 2007-08 if we didn't have the toughest schedule in the league.

As opposed to the last couple of years, I think our defense will be holding us back this year, not our offense.

I'm in agreement that the defense will be the weak point, but we still only have half of a good line and one reliable receiver. Running game I expect to be better but we need breakouts from guys like Roscoe, Everett, Preston; or at least just decent performance from the last one. Royal needs to carry over his red zone effectiveness from late last year and the younger TE need to step up as well. Field position shouldn't be a problem, but we need our new rusher (I'll be confident here) and short/intermediate passing game to step up and move the chains like we couldn't last year (last in the league in first downs). Our receivers still worry me on the latter point, though.

obviously the average winning percentage isn't going to be 500, you think people will actually take the time to make sure their charts work with all the others, and especially with people sometimes only doing one division, it's just unreasonable to expect everyone here to collaborate for such a difficult venture. get real. who cares if the wp average isnt 500, the point of this thread is to predict who will win the divisions, who will scrape the bottom and who will be so-so then make preemptive playoff picks woot GO PATS

I thought this needed a bump. This is from before the season started and people made predictions on only how their team would do...(from page 1)
