Yeah. It's kinda strange how two of the most entertaining wrestlers in the business came from reality shows. The Miz was on Real World, and John Morrison won Tough Enough 3.

I've sort of drifted away from wrestling over the past six months or so, but this card has me interested.
Yes Cena/Edge has happened 20 times, but its one of the best modern day rivalries rekindled for the first time in 3 years. Theyve never wrestled at Mania, and their matches are never NOT good. Im pumped for it.
Trips/Orton im actually excited for. I love personal feuds when theyre well done. WMD has been planting the STEPH IS BEHIND LEGACY seed in my head for like a month, and im glad thats not how it went. Orton is goooold.
HBK/Taker no need to talk about. Awesome. Taker has never been Shawn, and they havent wrestled in 10 years. woo.
Matt/Jeff didnt have a good match last time they tried, but I suppose it could be good.
MITB is always fun.
Christian back at Mania = win.
Im excited.

Michaels/Taker will tear the house down. To Texans, in Houston, at Wrestlemania, 2 great performers. It would be great, even if they're past their prime.
Right Now The Card Looks Like:
WWE Heavyweight Title Match
Edge (c) v. John Cena
WWE Title Match
Triple H (c) v. Randy Orton
Shawn Michaels v. Undertaker
Matt Hardy v. Jeff Hardy
ECW Title Match
Jack Swagggaaaaaaa! v. Christian (Maybe throw Finlay in for a triple threat)
MITB Ladder Match
Chris Jericho w/ some sort of legend interaction thing.
Maybe Regal/Punk in some sort of IC Title gimmick match. So far it looks good.

Also, TNA set a Ratings record with a 1.33, their biggest audience ever.

The thing, just as much as the ME being Sting/Angle, was that they built up to the ME during the broadcast. Plus, they had a few good matchups as well (Beer Money Inc./Team Canada (Although it sucks that Petey's gone) and MCMG/Lethal Consequences). Prediction (Hopefully this thread stays around long enough to happen) Robert Roode and James Storm will be a big f'n deal in 1-2 years time as singles wrestlers.

Ok, so I used to be a big wrestling fan when I was a kid and now I occasionally watch WWE videos on Youtube. I watched some of a recent RAW episode and one thing stood out to me: The doucebag threesome called Legacy. LOL They make me laugh so hard because they're supposed to be a modern spin on the whole 4-horsemen theme, but they don't even come close. They look like 3 male strippers, they have no personality and they really have nothing going for them other than being sons of famous wrestlers and having cut, muscular bodies. The funniest one of the three is Cody Rhodes. He should change his ring name to Douchebagasaurus Rex! They hardly let him talk and when they do, the douchebaggery really flows! Hilarious!

Ted DiBiase Jr. is going to be a big-time player in the future, IMO. Cody Rhodes, I'm not so sure on, and right now Orton (along with Edge and Chris Jericho) is jockeying for the label Best Heel In The Business.
Cody Rhodes is a great talker. Cody and Ted don't have much personality, but they're both very good on the microphone at the very least.

Yeah, I hate stuff like that. If they want to make it look more real, have one camera man, and have him do his best to follow the action. It's hard to suspend disbelief when there's all kinds of camera angles and everything.
The screaming and stuff was ridiculous too. Worst part of the segment was Triple H knocking in the one door and having some random lady run out screaming.
Also, they need to stop using Police. The people they use aren't believable in any role, unless they're getting their asses kicked by Stone Cold.

I think that Foley/Sting will be kinda like Hogan/Rock (Not on the level, but like it) in that it'll be entertaining, but it's more of an "OMG they're actually fighting!" thing, although Hogan/Rock had never fought and Foley and Sting had. I think Foley v. Sting will be sneaky good because we all know Foley will take some big bumps and I wouldn't rule out Sting taking one or two. But by far I'm looking forward to Lethal Lockdown the most, as well as the tag title match with 3D and Beer Money Inc.

The idea of the 4 people that have carried TNA from the start - against MEM. Thats awesome. Hopefully Nash is good to go. Plus, they always find a new way to top what they did last year in Lethal Lockdown. Last years top of the cage bump was scary lol.

True WWE messed up big time with the Jericho angle, they went in the worst possible direction. The diva's battle royal is a waste, and JBL/Mysterio is fine.
The Michaels/Undertaker match should be an all time great match.
Money in the bank would be so much better is Mark Henry or Kane were out of the match, seriously none of those guys should ever be in a ladder match. They should've put a legacy member in the match to win. Would've put the group over big time.
Edge vs Cena vs Big Show is another dumb match. How many times do Edge and Cena have to go at it? Big Show is limited and the whole Vicki Guerrero angle is stupid cause it puts in too many storylines.
Orton/HHH- great match buildup, but once again: how many times do these two have to go 1 on 1?

That was Kane in 2005, he's not in the same condition as he once was although he can still work a good match. There are a lot of young guys who I'd rather see in the match though.
I just don't want it to be a brawl where Kane/Henry and Finlay just found the crap outta everyone else. Kills the match.

Wrestlemania, especially for it being a big deal at #25, seems underwhelming to me. But I'm sure Hardy/Hardy, HBK/Taker and a few other matches will deliver. But overall, I'm looking forward to Lockdown more, but then again, I'm more of a TNA fan and have enjoyed seeing the MEM Angle come full-circle with Rhino and 3D being phased out of it while AJ and Joe come to the forefront.

Im sure Mania will have its fair share of good matches, I just think the buildup has sucked. Like, Ill watch it no doubt, but the build doesnt have me wanting to really talk about it. Orton has been gold over the last 18 months or so, but if I have to sit thru one more 20 minute chase scene with he and HHH, ill stab myself in the neck.

The major downside of it, Joe's new gimmick is cringeworthy. Him carrying around a knife = no thanks. But I think sooner than later we'll see a Jeff Jarrett heel-turn to even out the power structure a bit (all 3 authority figures (Foley, Jarrett and Cornette) are face).

comahan
04-04-2009, 11:15 AM
Keep in mind a lot of this is done based off of watching bits and parts of raw each week, as I havent watched a full ep in a while.
WWE Championship
Triple H cannot touch Randy Orton until WrestleMania unless physically provoked
Triple H vs Randy Orton
- Ill go Orton here. He's easily the best thing they have going right now, and while he doesnt NEED this win, it would still be a big feather in his cap. The possibilities on extending this feud are endless, I think Orton reigns over WWE for a while again.
World Heavyweight Championship
Triple Threat Match
Edge vs John Cena vs The Big Show
- Cena.
Money In The Bank Ladder Match
CM Punk vs Kane vs Mark Henry vs Montel Vontavious Porter vs United States Champion Shelton Benjamin vs Kofi Kingston vs Christian vs Finlay
- I think Punk, MVP, Shelton, and Christian all have at least a shot at this. Id say Christian, since hes easily my favorite of the group, bit for some reason i dont think so. Ill actually say MVP, i think.
The Streak vs Mr. WrestleMania
The Undertaker vs Shawn Michaels
-Taker.
Brother vs Brother
Matt Hardy vs Jeff Hardy
- These two had terrible 1 on 1 chemistry last time they tried to wrestle one another, lets hope this one is better. I havent watched smackdown in forever, so I havent seen the main build to this. So this is a wild guess.
3-on-1 Match
Chris Jericho vs Jimmy Snuka, Roddy Piper & Ricky Steamboat
Jericho wins, starts to humiliate them, glass shatters, stunner, fans are happy.
World Tag Team Title vs WWE Tag Team Title Match
Title For Title
The Miz & John Morrison (w/*Insert Bella here) vs The Colons (w/*Insert Bella Here*
- Miz/Morrison have arguably been the best part of WWE in the last year, easily the best thing not in the main event.
Intercontinental Title
JBL (c) vs. Rey Mysterio Jr.
JBL wins and retires as the IC Champion. Solid, harmless opener.
Money in the Bank
CM Punk vs. Kofi Kingston vs. Kane vs. Mark Henry vs. Finlay vs. Christian vs. MVP vs. Shelton Benjamin
Damn right. NOBODY expects Kofi to win MITB. I like him quite a bit and I think he'd be a very good heel. The world of wrestling needs an evil Jamaican, don't you know. Anyways, it's not like the winner of this match automatically wins the WWE Title or even becomes an instant Main Eventer. Kingston could get drafted over to Smackdown and join the Upper Mid Card scene over there.. Kofi could be the first MITB winner to lose his match, who knows.. There's always a way to work around it. But for the sake of going against the grain.. I will pick Kofi to win it this year.
Chris Jericho vs. Piper/Steamboat/Snuka
It's an Elimination match, so that makes me think Snuka and Piper get eliminated quickly. Steamboat seems like he's most capable to perform out of the three, he should get the majority of the action. He picks up the win, since he's being inducted into the Hall of Fame and everything.. Not sure how it all plays out, I can see it being overbooked.. Probably some interference from legends other than Flair. Not sure about Stone Cold showing up, but I'm sure someone will be there to get a big pop out of the fans.. Perhaps Batista shows up at some point to help out Flair somehow.
Tag Title Unification Match
The Miz & John Morrison vs. Primo & Carlito Colon
Could be Match of the Night. They have great chemistry and I hope the Lumberjacks don't take away too much from this. Miz and Morrison are one of the best things going in WWE.. but I suspect they'll be split up after the draft. John Morrison is ready to move past the ECW/Tag Division at this point. I'm looking forward to this one.
Extreme Rules Match
Jeff Hardy vs. Matt Hardy
I'll look for this to be more ground oriented with the No DQ coming into play mainly so Matt doesn't have to break submission holds.. Should be light on the real high spot stuff since the Money in the Bank match is also on the card.. Should be plenty of chair shots in this one. I'm sure this isn't going to be the end of the feud, so I'll go with Matt Hardy to win.
25 Diva "Ms. Wrestlemania" Battle Royale
Mae Young wins it. Much like how the Iron Sheik won the Gimmick Battle Royale (8 YEARS AGO?!?!?!), Mae picks up the win because she can't physically handle being thrown through the ropes, onto the floor. And you just know she's going to be in this. Can't wait to see Molly Holly again, though.
World Title Match
Edge (c) vs. John Cena vs. The Big Show
Think Cena can F-U/Attitude Adjust both men at the same time?? It could happen! Anyways, the thing that sticks out to me is that Vickie Guerrero said the winner of this match would not only get the Championship, but get her. This stuff writes itself. John Cena with Vickie Guerrero is vintage hilarity!
Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker
Could be the show stealer. At this point, I don't think they'll ever have The Undertaker lose at Wrestlemania. It'll just go down as part of his legend. Shawn Michaels doesn't need to win this match at all. The HBK Promo/video package from the Graveyard a couple weeks ago was one of the best things I've seen in a while. Gotta expect the crowd to be hot for this one, and in the end, my favorite wrestler of all time takes it.
WWE Title Match
Triple H (c) vs. Randy Orton
Don't know about having two new World Champs for this show.. but I expect Orton to win. He's been on a roll for the past year, the best heel in the company, not to mention, he seems to be Triple H's pet project. I think this match will be No DQ, so.. expect plenty of outside interference.. I can't remember the last time a heel won the Main Event of Wrestlemania, but what better way to solidify Randy Orton as a mega star in the company?
So that's that.. I may have too many faces winning.. but oh well, that's that. Should be a very good show.

I will pick Kofi to win it this year.
this actually makes some sense.remember Kofi was supposed to be a part of the Elimination Chamber for the WHC but was attacked by Edge.I def could see Kofi win

I really enjoyed it to. That said, it, like a lot of the other matches, was just sort of... weird. It had a strange flow to it.
It was probably the 5 minutes of downtime after Taker almost killed himself.
But beyond that, I thought it was great.
But like, the Tag match being cut, a near 20 minute Kid Rock performance that dragged on and on and on, an anti climactic ending to MITB, the Rourke after match stuff being bleh, the diva match being absolutely worthless (why fly in all those divas and then give them THAT?!), the Hardys match being underwhelming, the really bizarre and weird main event, and the crowd (GOOD GOD Houston, you sucked! made me embarrassed to be from there! http://s1.images.proboards.com/sad.gif), and its just like, uhg I dont know.
That said, I did enjoy some things. HBK/Taker was terrific as I said. Steamboat was awesome, props to him. Big Show being tied up in the ropes and screaming was hilarious. And the Austin stuff was fun.

MITB - ***
Not bad, somewhat predictable. My relatives thought Christian/Shelton Benjamin was going to win. I knew better.
Diva Battle Royal - DUD
My cousin pointed out Santino at the very start of the match. This was a massive waste of time.
Jericho vs. Legends - * 1/2
Ricky Steamboat still has it. Jimmy Snuka does not. Sgt. Slaughter would have been a better option than Snuka.
Hardy vs. Hardy - **
I'm really surprised at who won this match.
JBL vs. Mysterio - DUD
Whoever it was who thought it was a good idea to dress Rey Mysterio as the joker should be fired immediately.
HBK vs. Taker - *** 1/2
Match of the night bar none.
Cena vs. Edge vs. Big Show - ** 1/2
Apparently my aunt (who is a Cena fan) had never heard the term "six moves of doom" before.
Triple H vs. Orton - **

I really wish Vince's son-in-law would take a break. I don't watch a lot of wrestling anymore, but when I do HHH is constantly the WWE Champ, constantly on camera and constantly in the middle of headline plots. Seeing him spit water and make tough guy faces gets old. One thing I will say for him: he's dedicated. The guy performs a whole hellava lot. He must really love being a pro wrestler because he seems to perform every time there's a WWE show, pay-per-view event or whatever. I suspect CM Punk will cash in his MITB win at Backlash.. and lose!
Just not sure after which match. I'm thinking Ted DiBiase Jr. wins the belt for Randy Orton.. So maybe Orton gets his ass kicked, and after Orton 'wins' the belt, CM Punk comes out, and Randy Orton eventually hits an RKO out of nowhere for the win.
That, or after Cena beats Edge in the Last Man Standing match. Either way, I have a feeling it'll be cashed in next month.

CM Punk cashing in his MITB to win the match right after Last Man Standing makes perfect sense. And could set up a nice feud with Edge. Basically that CM Punk stole the title from "the ultimate opportunist" two years running.

I agree, I think he'll be the first MITB wrestler to lose their match. Too bad they don't do what they were planning on doing with Mr. Kennedy and have him announce he's going to cash in at Wrestlemania 26 and build that up all year.
See, I don't understand why they would've let CM Punk win money in the bank unless they were going to give him another chance at being champion. The WWE really dropped the ball during his last championship run and having him win a title shot the other night seems really pointless if he's just going to lose the match.

The Hillsborough County medical examiner announced just a few minutes ago that the cause of death in the case of Andrew "Test" Martin was oxycodone intoxication, and ruled the manner of death was accidental overdose, we can reveal.
Oxycodone is the addictive ingredient found in the painkiller OxyContin. The pill, dubbed Hillbilly Heroin, is widely abused and linked to hundreds of deaths in the US including that of Sensational Sherri Martel and Hollywood Actor Heath Ledger.
Martin was found dead at his apartment in Tampa, Florida on March. 14. Police say a neighbor reported that she could see into his apartment window and that Martin appeared motionless for several hours. Police say there was no indication of foul play.

Orton/Edge for the IC Title, the match that ended Orton's long reign as champion, was awesome. Probably my fav Orton match alongside the Foley one.

I think they are going to have Foley go on the whole "He's the champion and the owner Power Trip" thing and Foley can damn sure pull it off. I do hope that Foley drops the gold at Sacrifice though, because it seems like they're building to Jarrett/Foley and that being the world title match at Slammiversary wouldn't be good. King of the Mountain and Jarrett/Foley would be a very good top of the card.

Official word from the Wrestling Observer
As we reported earlier, Mr. Kennedy was officially released from World Wrestling Entertainment yesterday. This is coming as a shock to many. Kennedy had returned to Raw on Monday after rehabbing from a badly injured shoulder. Kennedy ended up injuring his wrist after taking a RKO from Randy Orton.
It is being reported that Randy Orton & Kennedy had words backstage after Raw went off the air, it wasn't heated, but that Orton told him he had to be careful out there so he wouldn't injure anyone in the ring. There wasn't any other complaints backstage.
A possibility of a reason why Kennedy was released was the pull that Orton has with Vince McMahon. Another possibility is that because he is injury prone, and WWE wouldn't be able to capitalize on their work on his character. The latter of the two is more likely the reason he was released. It should also be noted that Vince soured on Kennedy last year when he was injured. A wrist injury during his first match back with the company likely didn't help matters.

Very funny that Mr. Kennedy just got fired. I mean, he has no appeal to me whatsoever, but I saw in a USA commercial that he was just coming back this week. Not a big wrestling fan but one of my best friends is and I try to know enough to discuss it with him.

Not surprised about Kennedy to be honest. Wrestling is just not one of those sports you can do if you are injury prone.
WWE should bring Elijah Burke back to take Kennedy's spot.. Get him before TNA gets him signed. I know he had a dark match for TNA last week, any word on how that went?

He and Shawn Spears (former OVW guy that was, alongside Hager (now Jack Swagger) supposed to be part of the next crop of big stars) both impressed in their dark match, according to reports. Burke got a big reaction and played the babyface role, winning with the ELIJAH EXPRESS~!

Eh, Triple H returning for the 78th time isn't that interesting to me. No talkie about CM Punk cashing in and his possible heel turn in the beating of Jeff Hardy? Or that Umaga got released?
Also, according to the spoilers, Slammiversary looks like a damn good PPV. It is full of matches that I'm really looking forward to. I won't post the spoilers, but it's pretty good IMO.

Smackdown has been really good as of late. Edge vs. John Morrison was fantastic. I think Morrison could be a big star but Vince will want his mic skills to improve.
Edge, Punk, Hardy, Morrison, Jericho, Benjamin, Mysterio. Raw can't compete with all that talent.

My personal theory is that his running thru the mafia was their way of making him earn his stripes to join. He might have realized he was on the losing side when he was beaten down and had his arm broken.
I love the idea of a guy who would be the future of the main event scene and the future of the mafia. Their Michael Corleone of sorts.
The problem I had with Morgan being that guy was that he wasnt a former champ, and that took away from what the Mafia was.
I think Sting is the only one that didnt know what was going on. Joe called out all of the MEM member to go thru - except Sting. MEM have been close to rebelling on Stings leadership since he took over anyway. He pissed off Angle by pinning him for the leadership of the group. He pissed off Nash and Booker by kicking out their women.

The only way I wont like this is if Joe comes out on impact and is all - 'I dont really have a reason for doing what I did...'
There are so many ways you can make sense of him turning, but I had never even really given it a thought tbh. First legitimately surprising wrestling swerve for me in forever.

Technically yes, but it was just heel Jericho swiping it off mid move in a match, causing Rey to cover his face, letting Jericho get the pin. Hes not unmasked for good or anything.

oh. Seems like they've been pushing the whole mask thing, every time I randomly search up Rey Mysterio, it always seems his mask is on the line. He's bound to lose his mask again, I'm sure. It's pretty pointless to keep it on anyway after he already lost it years ago. It was his idea to lose it in WCW in the first place, most likely so, I dont think he cares all too much about the luchador mask tradition and such. Plus, those who have followed wrestling for a long time, already knows what he looks like. It's no big secret. I just wonder if he'll keep those contacts in after he loses it. I'm actually a little interested to see what he looks like these days since he's put on a lot more weight since his WCW days. The guy is all roided up these days.

WWE cares about the mask though, because they sell a BOATLOAD of them. Its one of their bigger sellers. It was their idea to put it back on him in 02. So i highly doubt he loses it.

Maybe...it wouldnt make sense when you put it that way but, I could see him losing it. The ladies were loving on Rey after he lost it in WCW. haha. And his popularity was still as high as ever, higher even. But yeah, Rey's merchandise sales would surely be down. I know WCW sold his new trademark beanies after the mask but, obviously you wouldnt see the same return. haha. I own a Mysterio mask myself.
And I cant believe he's been in the WWE for that long already. That's the last time I watched at a decent rate. (02') Time really does fly.
