He's getting there though.

I can see where you are coming from with that assesment of Woodson, but keep in mind that he has more of a track record than Booty (who you had in your list) and Matt Ryan, and in his career has thrown more passes than Erik Ainge during the same time frame. Alot of people keep saying that Woodson has to prove that he wasn't a one year wonder but most people aren't holding Booty to that same standard or questioning Ainge's inconsistency even though he had an absolutely horrid sophomore season to follow up his excellent freshman year.

Ainge? i have seen a few of you put Ainge in there, and im wondering why. I am a Tennessee fan and I don't see anything that would put Ainge in the top 5 QBs except for his height. Crompton is a better QB than Ainge from a skill stand point.

This is a homer pick, but Eric ainge, IMO, has the potential to be the no.1 qb in this weak class, he just needs a consistent injury free season. Though I dont think he can do it with the loss of all of his recievers.

2a. Brian Brohm - Louisville
2b. J.D. Booty - USC
4a. Colt Brennan - Hawaii
4b. Chad Henne - Michigan

I think clearly because of Woodson's measurables and performance should put him above Brohm....who to me is a system QB (same with Brennan)
J.D. Booty showed good leadership and a strong arm. I think he has a good chance of unseating Brohm to be the #2 to end the year.

Weak class?

I was wondering the same thing. This could potentially be a very strong QB class IMO.

draftguru151

As of right now it's a pretty weak QB class. Brohm is considered by most to be that #1 guy, but he really isn't elite and has a lot of question marks. I really like Woodson, but he is hardly an elite guy at this point. Henne needs work, JDB does as well. It's pretty deep but there really isn't even one elite guy at this point.

ironman4579
05-15-2007, 03:11 PM
That's more what I was meaning. I do believe that some guys could certainly slide up this year, and even potentially be looked at as elite guys.

1. Brian Brohm-Consensus #1
2. Erik Ainge-Has some real tools to work with
3. Colt Brennan-Nice tools+production
4. Andre Woodson-Potential JaMarcus Russell type rise.
5. John David-Booty-Decent arm, excellent accuracy, a lot of Matt Leinart qualities, but missing that "it" factor

Overall a terribly weak QB class in terms of "Elite" prospects, but very nice depth. Guys like Henne, Morelli, Dennis Dixon, Kyle Wright, Matt Flynn can all be potential starters/good backups. Unlike this years class where there were only really around 6 QB's considered of being "Potential Starters/Good Backups", there are a lot more this in '08.

1. Andre Woodson, Kentucky
The only reason he isn't the consensus #1 right now is the team he plays for and he doesn't get on national television very much.

2. Brian Brohm, Louisville
A little overrated because he is always talked about by ESPN and he has a great OL and running game; Rutgers showed his flaws.

3. John David Booty, USC
Should be a great fit in any WCO.

4. Chad Henne, Michigan
Has the best arm right now in college football but is by no means a polished passer.

5. Colt Brennan, Hawaii
Really tough to gauge how good he is because of how good his production is...but he has a pretty good arm and it was smart for him to return for his senior season.

J.D. Booty- In my opinion, will do much better now that Lane Kiffin is gone. Funny how a horrible college O.C. can become an NFL Head Coach.

Andre Woodson- Last year's bowl game made me a firm believer in Woodson, may or may not go higher in 2008 Draft depending on which route a team would like to take, risk and high upside or ready to go wco qb.

Brian Brohm- Brian, Brian, Brian, it will be a mistake for you to come back another year under a new Coach. Look to be victimized by other teams and broken down by the media. Take it when you have it, its gonna bite you on the ass.

Colt McCoy- Will not make Brian's mistake and will leave after a great year in Texas along with Limas Sweed.

Chad Henne- Will get here for being physically gifted and being a big program QB. Still has high enough upside to be #1 in my opinion, but just needs to continue polishing himself.

Everyone will remember David Klingler and forget Colt Brennan next year.

Bobby Reid is one that could rise considerably over the course of the season.

If he refines his game and puts up some good numbers he certainly could. He has solid tools, good size, and great mobility. He has a potential 1st round WR and some decent RB help, he definitely could have a big 2007.
