Being the #4 pick and all, the pressure is certainly on Gaines Adams to have a big impact on our team this season. In saying that, do you think that he will start immediately? Or possibly further along into the season? Maybe even just be a pass rushing specialist his first season?

Personally, I can't see him starting from Day 1. Kiffin historically has liked slightly larger guys on the strong side which is why I think Spires or Carter get the nod at LE. He will not beat out Rice at RE for obvious reasons and the only other way I see him starting this season is if somebody was injured. I think he will be more of a 3rd down/obvious passing downs guy in his first season, taking over a starting gig next year after a year of experience.

Thoughts??

Simeon Rice gets injured in Week Four, Gaines Adams comes in and kicks A** and takes names.

Don't put that voodoo on Rice. Having him and Adams on Passing Downs would be freaky. Having Adams/Rice and Spires/Carter just doesn't have the same ring to it.

I just want him to get to the QB and hit like an animal on kickoff coverage and kick block teams. Right now he may be comprised to a Mark Anderson role but he could rack up 10 sacks. Imagine how dominant he can be as a rookie if he just stays warm on the sideline and rushes the QB at full stamina? Perfect preparation for a starting role in my books.

I doubt he starts at all baring an injury. But I do think he will contribute right away. Could see 6-10 sacks.

Passing situations he will play unless we trade Rice for a pick(s).
