You're kind of forgetting that not everyone lives in LA and Oakland. If you go outside of the ghetto or whatever you saw, it's actually very nice. Not to be a SoCal homer but Northern California is nice, even San Fran. I didn't go to Oakland but everywhere around it is nice. I personally believe LA doesn't represent California very well.

No it's because Washington never has sunshine and it's gloomy as hell all the time which depresses people. The state also has one of the highest rates of alcoholism in the US as well. I visit northern california a lot and it's really nice. There are some ghetto parts. I didn't really see much of Oakland but I'm pretty sure it's not that nice. I took the BART to the Raiders vs. Browns game. I was like 10 years old and Raiders fans were like swearing at us and stuff. Good thing we got seats near other Browns fans.

BTW I went to a USC game once...worst night of my life. So my dad and I drive up to LA to watch a USC game. We leave 3 hours before game time with a 1 hour drive. Thinking back this was a bad idea. It took us 2 hours to get there and even with our parking pass we couldn't find a parking structure to park in because they were all full. Traffic was horrible and we had to park in some dark alley where some shady guys were selling spots for $20. So my dad and I watched the game and USC blew Stanford out (no surprise, they scored like 40 points before the second half) and then at the end of the game I started feeling sick. So we're walking out of one of the long narrow tunnels in the Collisseum when I start blowing chunks. All these people are walking by saying "Chicken Noodle Soup" and other stuff they thought my puke looked like. So my stomach is killing me and we have to walk 1/2 a mile to the car which could be stolen or something by now. It's like 10:30 at night in the middle of the ghetto and I can barely walk. I get in the car and I feel perfectly fine and we drive home.

Oakland is fine, people have a really twisted view of that place. The Oakland Hills are one of the ritziest communities in the entire state, there is a huge mass of suburbs and apartments that are perfectly nice. As long as you aren't living in the far east or far west (which is basically Richmond), the crime is pretty much comparable to any other city in the country.

I've been to washington, and it was real nice. I was in Lacey, WA visiting my sister and right next to her house there's a forest and about a 20 minute walk to the ocean.

Plus, they actually have places to go to besides of her last two stops in Enid, Oklahoma or Altus, Oklahoma.

*general defensive comments on how great of a city chicago is*

i love the fact that you're really defending chicago.
really. defending. chicago.

because, lets face it. it's not LA where it stinks like high hell, everyone drives their fifty million cars everywhere. NYC is absolutely atrocious as a city, so it's gigantic and you never ever have to leave to get anything you've ever wanted (unless you want ikea or friendlys), but the people are big assy potato lasers. they spend X dollars (where X is more they make in a month) on rent (which happens to be a shared janitors closet), and then spend X+Y dollars (where why is an ever nearing number to their credit limit) on clothing and fashionable things (like gaudy rings, prada shoes), because in NYC it's better to look good on the outside, then bring your friends back to your place. because you can only fit one other person in there. houston = asscakes galore. dallas = slightly better.

as far as good cities? DC/Bmore = awesome, boston = good. Austin = also good.

note: women everywhere are stupid. but men still manage to be even sharper than the women.

My cousin used to live in the Dochester Aparments right on Columbia. He moved somewhere else in the area, but not sure exactly where. And two of my good friends still live in the apartment complex across the street from the Dochester Apartments. I forget the name of their complex. Its not a wannabe extension. Its a rich extension. Not sure what town you live in but Bergen county is one of the wealthiest counties in America. A lot of very well off people who work in NYC but want to live in a big ass house instead of a big apartment live in Bergen county. See Reverend Run.

It used to be a great place to go with friends, but now a bunch of teeny bopper High School kids are hanging around Georgetown and making it a crap hole. I usually only go there now with co-workers. If it weren't for my job location I'd much rather prefer to live in a coastal region like in Maryland or New Jersey.

Must've missed where they said that. I guess I just assumed that Seattle was last, because they listed Portland before them. Makes no sense to me how Seattle is ahead of Portland. Everybody know that Portland "radiates the color green." Haha. Wait, is that even a list? Now that I take a closer look it just seems that some treehugger named the top ten greenest cities, but didn't list them.

umm Im not sure, seems like it would be though, read the seattle article, it seems more green the the portland one. Electric metro buses, best biking city, and 32 or 60 mil on reducing co2.. No way the list is the other way though, new york infront of seattle or portland?
