I have begun to see multiple 2008 mock drafts have us picking in the top 10 and selecting Kenny Phillips. This confuses me and makes me think as why people have us picking him with Griffin and Hope locked up for the future. Is there such a defense which can use three safeties other then the quarter and cover three? It is not that I am arguing against having the best athlete in the draft, and perhaps the best safety prospect to come out of the draft since Sean Taylor. Let me pose a hypothetical scenerio. Lets say the Titans wind up with the #7 pick in the draft next year, DeSean Jackson has already been picked, Glenn Dorsey has already been picked, Mario Manningham, Limus Sweed and Lawrence Jackson are both still on the board. Do we take Phillips by going BPA or do we go in another direction? If Phillips has the monster year many college fans think he will, I think it would be a no doubter to take Kenny, and start creating new schemes that place multiple safeties in coverages, as well as moving people around to cornerback or linebacker for some plays. I want to know what the rest of you guys think

No. Unless one of these receivers breaks out and becomes a go to number one we have to take the best receiver we can get. Vince is good but he can't do it all himself.

I'm all about Limas Sweed or Earl Bennet.

I really want Bennett but Young and Sweed again would be sweet also

Pass on Kenny Phillips. Drafting him would mean we'd have 3 in the box safeties, and no good center fielding safeties. And remember who our DC is...I don't see any cool schemes being cooked up.

WR, DE, and CB are still our top needs, in my opinion. Hopefully Jackson, Manningham, Sweed, Dorsey, or one of the other top D-Linemen will still be available.

I'm also looking at a darkhorse candidate in Malcolm Kelly, who possibly has the best of both Manninham and Jackson(great speed, great hands, good moves and not unafraid to go in the middle). However, it is possible that one of our wide recievers do step up this season (I could see Brandon Jones or Courtney Roby stepping out and being Vince's go-to guy). CB could be addressed if we get Paul Oliver in the supplemental draft(held Calvin Johnson to only 3 catches for 26 yards this past season and considered a top CB for this upcoming draft). Its just if anybody steps up at DE or DT this season
