I love to listen to music to motivate me while I run or workout. What music do you listen to while you workout? Bands and specific songs are accepted. ;)

Kasabian, almost anything by them. Specifically though, Shoot The Runner is a good song by them.

For running, I actually prefer something a little more relaxed then for lifting. Something smooth with a beat that allows me to run to the rhythm (plant my foot every beat or every other beat) typically works great.

I can't get in the zone unless i'm listening to some techno, mainly house.

The last few weeks i've had DJ Dan - Funk The System on the Ipod.

House isn't typically my bag, but you might enjoy this if you like DJ Dan: http://ezeskankin.com/

It has a bunch of his recorded sets, plus tons of other good crap.

Good stuff.

I use to be into techno/electronic big time back in the late 90's, early 00's during my raver heyday, but i've cooled off on it a lot. However, I still like listening to all my old CDs - DJ Dan, Mark Farina, Carl Cox, Paul Tenaglia, etc, when I hit the gym.

My favorite:

Survivor - Eye of the Tiger

but I have listened to mostly Bloodhound Gang songs as something funny usually helps me run. Another one is a classic to anyone who watched 50 States in 50 Days on SportsCenter two years back.

Open Road - Bryan Adams

"Space Opera part III". It's just music (no words), but it's so erie. It's not really fast, but it makes the hairs on your neck stand up.

"Phantom of the Opera techno remix" by Nightwish is also absolutely amazing.
