From what I've seen of Ellis, I think he is the best prospect on Southern Cal's defensive front seven. He plays the run and pass very very well... Teams like Arkansas, Cal, Oregon and Michigan, good running teams, had a very rough time running the ball up the middle against him.

Eric Foster made some AA teams last year, but he is getting overlooked because he's a pure gap rusher.

Everyone in Tallahassee seems to be predicting a Travis Johnson/Broderick Bunkley type senior season for Fluellen.

Glenn Dorsey is the best Senior despite any position.

Glenn Dorsey is by far the best one. As of right now, he's a top-10 pick.

Depending on how Nick Hayden works out, he could be a top 10 DT in the draft

The class of 2007 tackles was thin, but I really like the depth of next year's tackle class. I'm sure that entered the thought process of the Colts when they traded next year's 1st round pick for Tony Ugoh (a potential left tackle with the athleticism required for the team), that they could grab a quality defensive tackle later on in Day One.

There looks to be a handful of promising 3-4 NT prospects, which hasn't really been the case for the last few years.

And if I'm Frank Okam, I take a good, long look at what happened to Alan Branch.

I like Okam, Pressley, and Dorsey the best.

Just like they did last off season.

the difference between soph to junior and junior to senior is a wide margin.....Docket, Travis, and Bunkely (even Kam as a DE) all had hype but finally came on their SENIOR season

Your taking comments way too literal. Last year everyone predicted that Fluellen was going to have a break out year much like Bunkley and Johnson did. It didn't happen. That was my point.

But it wasn't his senior year PL, so the hype then didn't matter, but it matters this time.

your not reading what people are saying. The original post stated that people expect him to have a senior season similar to all of the other seniors from FSU's DL that were hyped for years. Dockett, Travis Johnson, B-Bunk all were hyped for a few summers, but it wasnt till their senior season that it happened. This is what people expect from Fluellen. No he did not have his breakout year in terms of superstar, but he still would have been a 3-4th round pick had he entered the draft. Your point is irrelavent because it was pointless unless meant to bash

did he become a 1st round pick candidate? no. Did he have a bad year? no. Its not throwing randomly blind homer fueled message board rants. His hype is justified this season. His SECOND year as a fulltime starter at his position, and the track record of FSU players as senior speak for itself. Not to mention a dominating spring. He won the Hinesman (and most dominating defensive player) award which goes to the most dominant player on the team and traditionally translates on the field

past Hinesman winners in the spring?

Lawrence Timmons
Kam Wimbley
AJ Nicholson

i'd say it matters when projecting

To be fair to Fluellen, he had to play NT for a few games last year because of injuries.

-black
05-24-2007, 12:50 PM
the whole FSU defense was decimated with injuries all season. I believe it was f or 6 day one starters who were lost for the season or missed a significant portion of the season due to injury . The defense still finished top 20. This was easily one of Mickey Andrews best coordinating jobs ever. Getting all of those freshman ready to play and getting production from players playing out of position (like Fluellen playing NT absorbing blocks)
