I liked the first one a lot, wasn't so high on the second one but it was still alright. The previews I've seen for this new one look pretty good though. I'll probably try and catch in the next few weeks and I'm usually a wait for DVD type of movie watcher.

I rented "the dead man's chest" a few weeks ago so that I can go watch this one and not be completely lost. Pretty good movie.

Off topic, other movies I want to go see:

Oceans 13
The Simpsons Movie
Evan Almighty
Rush Hour 3 (not sure if it's coming out this summer)

I didn't like the 2nd one much. The 1st one was excellent.

I've read some critics' reviews on "At World's End", they seem to think that it'll be somewhere in between, better then the 2nd one, but not quiet as good as the 1st one.

I'll see it.

I went and saw Star Wars Episode:3 when it came out(at midnight) and it was kinda weird. When the Lucasarts/films thing came on the screen right before the movie started people started applauding and cheering. Then afterwards a guy dressed up as a sith, lightsaber fought a guy dressed as a jedi in the parking lot, with fake lightsabers. I have it on my pc, i will have to host it on a site.

As in, the last hour was just a HUGE battle.

The only complain I have about the movie is the ending. I just wasn't pleased with how they ended it. When I saw the critics at rottentomatoes gave it a 50%, I was surprised (I lost all respect for that site after they gave The Boondock Saints a 20%). I'd probably give it about an 80%. Keira Knightley alone is reason enough to go. Now, all they need to do is make Pirates 4 and bring in some Jessica Alba!

I just came back from it and I thought it was completely boring. It's 3+ hours, and nothing too special to keep my interest. The battle scene at the end was nice, but everything leading up to it pretty much sucked. If you didn't see or remember the 2nd one, you will be completely lost. It seems for more than half of the movie they are just talking. It's not something that would hold your interest for too long, especially if your expecting something major.

I give it a 2 out of 5 overall.

Yeah, but like all of the trilogys that are successful (starwars, harry potter, heck even shrek) you can usually jump right in knowing what is going on.

And I agree it was quite bland. I'm not going to remember it in a month. But I will remember to not see the 4th one.

Shrek isn't a triology is it?

Weird thing about modern triologies is that the first one's a stand-alone, but the second and third movie usually go hand in hand... it was the same thing with the Matrix... Matrix (I) was an awesome movie, that could've ended right where it did, but then they had to go and make Reloaded, which was a lot less good (action scenes got boring and the story just got more complicated and less fun) but the worst thing about Reloaded is that it ended with a 'to be continued' after 3 hours of movie, at least put in some kind of ending! (I hated Revolutions, thought it was crap)

Shrek the Third was like a DVD sequel to me: shorter and lesser on every level. Spiderman was disappointing, it got kinda caught up in itself and didn't develop the characters well enough. Pirates 3 was bland.

Pirates was solid, the naval fighting was the best yet...but it didn't have "it" like the first one had. The first one gave that near epic type feeling, IMO. The final battle scene came close, but overall is was kind of bland. However, Keira Knightly makes up for most of it!!!!

1) Jack Sparrow
2) Barbosa
3) Elizabeth Swann
4) Davy Jones (I think he's a good villain personally, but Barbosa is a stronger character)
5) Commodore (the one who joined Jack's crew in the 2nd one)

Personally, I think Will Turner is really weak. He's not a strong character, he's actually quite annoying, and I don't think the movie would hurt itself if they didn't do so much with his story line. Orlando Bloom is an extremely overrated actor too IMO. But he's eye candy for the women, so I can see why they put him in the movie.

Ok so they needed Will in the first one with the whole Bootstrap Bill, bloodline story line going on but other than that, he's really a weak character. Idk, maybe it's just because of the acting. If they had a stronger person to play his role I'd probably change my tune.

ironman4579

You have to remember that LOTR was based on the Books, and Tolkkein was not very good at character development, especially female characters. Most of the female characters in the books were completely empty, forgettable characters. The movies actually did a far better job of character development than the books ever did.
