All right, now that we are in between forum mocks I thought I'd start this draft to pass the time. There are only 12 spots available, and we will do a fantasy draft of players currently in the NBA as well as the incoming class including Oden and Durant, etc..., but not Hibbert.

The catch is that this is a dynasty draft, meaning your team that you draft will be asked to play together for the next 8 years. The question on the polls after the draft will be "Who would win the most NBA titles in the next 8 years?" So draft young, but if you draft too young you'll suck for the next 3 years. But if you draft too old... you'll suck for the last 3 years. So choose wisely.

5 starters and 5 bench players, so it will be a 10 round draft.

Since I am a Cav's homer, I will take them and randomize the draft order. The draft will start once we have 12 people (maybe 8 if people aren't joining).

Nah, I'll just randomize it. I might take 16 if there's a lot of interest, but no more. Would that still be too much?

Just cuz u dont have the knowledge to go that far doesnt mean others cant. There are plenty of players that you could do. Also a lot of people drop out of things once they start

It's people who can play well for the next 8 years, including this year's draft class. That is a ton of people to choose from, believe me. I don't want another draft where Antawn Jamison is the worst player on a team, this way you have to have some knowledge of players past the stars.

We'll try to get 16 people and as soon as we do I will start the draft. I realize it will be slow-going this weekend so I won't skip anyone but try to check in if you can.

Also, pick another team, the Knicks have been taken.

And for everyone else, if we get 16 people, we will only have 6 rounds, your 5 starters and a 6th man. 160 players drafted is a little too much.

make it ten people ten rounds 100 players is perfect

We already have 11... and 16 people x 6 rounds = 96 players so close enough.

This way the tournament will go smoother with 16, we won't have to work out who gets a bye.

I'm thinking we'll have 4 polls with 4 teams in each. The 4 winners will then have a regular single elimination tournament to decide the winner.

Everyone gives the winner +rep.

11 people have signed up in 4 and a half hours, so I think we can get 5 more by Sunday. If not, then I'll start the draft with what we have and figure the rest out along the way.

16 people are signed up!

Each team drafts 5 starters along with a 6th man.

Remember, the objective is to have your team win the most championships in the next 8 years. And this years draft class is available for pick. I will do the lottery in a little bit and post the order on the front page to start the clock. No one will be skipped until Tuesday, and only if they are taking forever. Good luck to all.

RoyHall#1
05-26-2007, 05:19 PM

Id probably prefer Bosh or maybe even Dwight Howard over Amare, or my next target pick, Ive never liked Amare personally, dont really think he can create his own shot that well, but most think he is one of the best.

Who is Amares point Guard again? Is this point guard the best playmaker in the league? How about his running mate "Matrix" hes pretty good too. Can u make trades in this thing

What the hell, you can make a trade as long as its 1 for 1, or 2 for 2, etc.. You just have to end up with 6 players.

So I suppose you could trade like a 1st rounder and a 5th rounder for a 2nd and a 4rd rounder.

SPeaking of which, I may be interested in #14... (see above example trade)

Seriously? We got through the first 10 picks rather quickly, you had been on the clock for 16 hours before you picked. Supermario said he'd be back by 7 so he should pick shortly. The only person to have held up the draft has been you, but ok.

And if you're not going to be on for a while send me a big board of your next 5 players or something.

Coming from a Mavs fan. Josh's best fit was at SF last year, which was a all-star year. Here's the rotating starting line-up through most of the season.

A:
PG: Jason Terry
SG: Devin Harris
SF: Josh Howard
PF: Dirk
C: Dasana Diop

B
PG: Jason Terry
SG: Greg Buckner
SF: Josh Hoawrd
PF: Dirk
C: Diop

C
PG: Jason Terry
SG: Jerry Stackhouse
SF: Josh Howard
PF: Dirk
C: Diop

So most of the time Avery played him at the 3, but he will be effective at the 2 aswell.

while deng is the better midrange shooter Howard far and away is the better 3-point shooter. If I had both I would play Howard at shooting guard because he is smaller then Deng and does not have the post moves that deng does and he is a better perimeter defender.

-Not your average big guard. Reminds some of Josh Howard. Instead of using his body to beat smaller defenders he'll hit a jumper in your face. Jack of All trades

The Philadelphia 76ers select KEVIN GARNETT.

Wow he is still available. The man is only 30 and can easily play 8 more years in the league.

PG: T.J. Ford
SG: Kobe Bryant
SF: Josh Smith
PF: Andrea Bargnani
C: Kevin Garnett

This team can easily win the next 4-6 championships. All the pieces are built around Kobe, the perfect type of players. This is a fast up tempo team with great defense to go along with an amazing offense.
