I started last years around this time, and I am going to start this years. I can not wait until August for this game. It looks like this year, they have finally made it into the game we all hoped it would be for the past couple of years. This will be my first madden for the next gen, and the graphics look awesome.

You know the tiniest things about Madden piss me off. I hate it that a guy who tears his ACL or has a major concussion (or heart stops beating) just walks off the field clutching the area that hurts. Having the injury cart come out would be better IMO or at least a training staff.

I am mad that it pisses me off but it just irritates me.

what pisses me off is when my WR clearly burns the WR...a very good throw and the CB/Safety just magically get 4.2 speed to catch up and knock it down. then on the other side of the ball..sometimes my CB who has 96 speed, gets burned by a guy with 89 speed

If you play the game like a real football game the tackles are somewhat realistic.

Or, you can put your starting LB's on special teams so that their stats look perty.

I play on 7 minutes all-madden...average 78 points per game which is lame but, I do get a fair amount of tackles on d... Ware had 156 my last season and Akin was second with 111. I always control Ware.

Something else they should fix.... It is way too easy to get sacks and almost every interception you get is returnable for a TD... Newman 14 ints, 12 Tds.... so stupid.

i agree with editing. franchise mode needs to be improved. better offseason. plus when you win the super bowl, at least have the celebration! it needs to improve alot imo, the graphics are great, but i still prefer the PS2 version this year

They need to fix up the pass rush moves too, I'm sick of having to bullrush or rip.

They also needed to fix the big glitch where jumping the snap would fire a defensive end to the outside and out of the play.

It's better than the NCAA DE rush. If you time it perfectly (not that hard) the OT goes flying and you've got a clear rush at the QB. Way too many sacks this way

I have PS3 and gang tackling was on the madden 07 version. It's a lot more realistic but still not as good as it can be unless they improve it.

Chad Jackson ran a 4.32 and they gave him slower speed than Holmes who ran slower than CJ

michael huff and donte witner's speed were 93 and 92 respectively so i think landry would get a 93. i dont know if they base speed off of 40 times but if they did 93 isnt unrealistic for a safety who went 6th overall and ran a 4.35 in his only 40 time and it was at the combine.

I like to go defense first, so I go DE, MLB, DT, OLB, CB, S, then get whoevers the best available.

QB then DL and OL. I like to get RBs around 85 overall and get them better. Sometimes I dont even draft a RB and see who the CPU picks for me when I sim the last 10-15 rounds.

you can look at every single play that happened in gamecast and replay, so you could find your own favorite plays after the game and add commentary i guess. The NFL and MLB should void out their exclusivity contracts and let EA make baseball and Midway and 2K make football. if only.....

I can't put up good stats in All-Madden. On offense, your OL sucks, and if the defender is near you, you can't throw, the ball is gonna be picked off, in madden there isn't the possibility to throw at the last moment, when the defender is in your area, your QB will throw an horrible ball.
And it's frustrating that your CBs at all-madden are ********, if the opposite WR run a post, you see your CB continues to run downfield like he's covering a fly.

If you average 78 points at all-madden I guess you're very good. I played Madden a lot, and I guess I'm good, but I find irrittating playing at all-madden level. Stupid things like an HB making a pancake of your DE happen too often.

Btw, I just miss the ESPN 2K saga. Those games were money.

You're right....stupid because there's no way Newman gets 14 picks ;)

After 5 seasons in Madden '07 for 360 just about all the offensive players were above 90, while the highest rating for a defensive player was something like 82. They would come out of the draft with high ratings, but then just degress. I also had DE's running 4,3s and coming out with 99 speed, which is just stupid.

I like the idea of the new icons, should be fun to play around with that. And for the rookies I can't wait to play AD and CJ, both are going to be beasts in this game.

So true, even though you could only pick likke 11 different logos for created teams. But gameplay was very real, stats were close to real, i loved the gamecast thing and stadium music editor. Offseason was hard and was there ever a college game to import rookies from?

I've wasted my best years on the madden franchise... I know that game like the back of my hand, haha... It's even worse on the ps2 versions... It really has lost all of it's fun... atleast when I go against the cpu. I always compete in local tourny's and am looking for a big one this year... no joke, the guys on the madden bus are awful. I think i can take them... it will be interesting how much the game changes from 07-08 cause that could always throw you off at first in tourney's...should be interesting.

Yeah, regardless of how well your corners do, they go down in rating every year...lame.

If you dont have an HD Tv it looks like all the players are on roids... they slim down with the HD TV, though...it looks better but, it could def. be better looking.

NBA 2K7 is pretty sick, graphically... atleast the players they actually took the time on...Shaq, Kobe, Lebron... you know the big name guys. Yao looks creepy as hell though...ha.

I am really looking forward to this game. All that I want is a Fantasy Draft and the ability to edit players. I enjoyed the gameplay in 07 immensley, but I really missed those two aspects that I felt were vital to the PS2 and Xbox version.

I cant belive this hasnt been mentioned yet. When your pass rusher hits the qb, just BEFORE he winds up to throw the ball and the ball just drops to his feet and its an incomplete pass, this is by far my most hated madden aspect, you watch the instant replay and 9 times out of 10 the qb arm isnt moving forward at the time of the hit so it should be a fumble.

However just correcting this to make all these instances fumbles would be rediculous too because you would have QB's making 6-7 fumbles per game and thats with only 10 minute quarters.

I think they need to make it harder to get sacks with better blocking and THEN if you still get to the qb and hit him and the ball just drops make it a fumble, but this should only happen once or twice a game

this madden for the next gen systems are supposed to blow its earlier version out of the water. For me its gameplay>graphics. I still play on regular xbox because the gameplay on 360 is so ****** and ps2 madden just plain old sucks

Other annoyencies>

When you tackle a guy at the say... 20 yard line and throw him back 5 or 6 yards, the game still places the ball at the 20. That's something that annoys me.

the ridiculous running stats. I had a season in which 5 guys (including michael vick, for chrissakes) had over 2,000 yards rushing, in any case any half-decent rusher goes way over 1,000, in fact any less than 1,200 is rare.

since I brought up Mike Vick, he and vince young manage to pile up enormous rushing stats (anywhere from 1,000 to 2,000 is very normal for Vick and Young also gets to and goes over 1,000 (i've seen him get to 1,500 once)). Now not only is that rediculous, but they're also the only two QB's in the game who get stats like that, no self-drafted QB will ever run for more than a hundered yards a season, unless of course you play games and run it yourself.

The fact that #1 recievers if you sim only only get to 1,000 yds if your other recievers suck. In fact, no QB gets over 3,500 yards when you sim. Most of them have trouble getting past 3,000.

In franchise mode if you play it for about ten years with the same team the opposition starts to SUCK.

The fact that if you have a cornerback with 95 speed covering a WR with 88 speed the cornerback always ends up outrunning the guy and then getting beat because he's way too far ahead to prevent the catch.

The fact no player in franchise mode retires before he hits 35/36. And before that period they slow down so badly you can't even use them, still their Icon status remains so cutting them hurts prestige.

Speaking of icon mode, when are they going to update that list?

Double-digit sacks, even for top pass rushers, are rare.

100+ tackes for your linebackers? Not if your defense is any good (my LB had a grand total of 60 in my last played season).

Superstar mode with a defensive player? Friggin' impossible since your influence drops every time the other team advances (even if you had no chance in hell of doing anything about it).

back to franchise mode: it's not possible to get a half-decent coach after six years, all the good guys become horrible for some reason, some retire, some lose too much.

Is there actually a way to move a team? It says you can get invited into other cities, but I haven't seen it, honestly. And why can't you create a proper jersey with a logo on the helmet for your own friggin' team?

in Madden when the opposing offense runs a shotgun, just move one of your defensive ends to the other side (so that he's next to the other DE and next to the O-Line) and you've got the same thing; clear rushing lane. The tackle picks up the guy next to you and the tackle who is supposed to be guarding the end you've moved ends up blocking nothing but air. I had 11 sacks in one game by just doing that.

Yeah that just happened to me.

BTW Atlanta's Jimmy Williams has the former New Orleas Saint's Jimmy Williams' picture as his own, does EA double check anything??

that's another thing that annoys me, the pictures, they haven't been updated for at least two years now and some guys still don't have pictures although they've been in the league for some while (Shawn Merriman, DeMarcus Ware don't have pictures, but Derrick Johnson does... strange) and there's a heap of other examples. I always find it strange that some rookies have pictures and some don't (like in '07, Nick Mangold had a picture, but D'Brickashaw Ferguson didn't)

yeah it works pretty well with both. The only thing is that the LB rusher works best out of a 4-3, since you need the d-line to occupy the o-line.

Did anyone notice that when the CPU wants to take some time off the clock and they let the gameclock run for a while they ALWAYS play when there's 5 seconds left? It's like clockwork.

Ehm... it's the same way as you'd break through tackles with a big back... I think the stat you shoud train if you can't do it yet is agility.

Yeh pc with ps2 controller. The gameplay is annoying but sliders and stuff can fix a lot of the problems (too many sacks not enough tackles with dline etc). Looking forward to gang tackling (it feels dirty saying that for a 2008 game), if only they'd make the game slightly less restrictive for modders.

that's another thing that annoys me, the pictures, they haven't been updated for at least two years now and some guys still don't have pictures although they've been in the league for some while (Shawn Merriman, DeMarcus Ware don't have pictures, but Derrick Johnson does... strange) and there's a heap of other examples. I always find it strange that some rookies have pictures and some don't (like in '07, Nick Mangold had a picture, but D'Brickashaw Ferguson didn't)

yeah, you gotta be careful drafting RBs... acceleration and agility are everything...when your simulating. You get a guy with 99 speed and only like 75 acceleration and 75 agility...he'll average like 2.8 yards per carry.

I am not great in madden but I'm not bad either. I like to think I am more good then bad though. In online play, I always get slaughtered by the like the upper tier players, mainly because they use some exploit of some sort that they've mastered (IMO), but everyone else, I can hold my ground against them. I love facing the players who like to beat up on weaker opponenets for stats, because I usually whoop them for stats of my own :)

2k5 had good dives. Madden just is still using the same animations it has since 04 for dives

I think at the end of each week in franchise mode they should have a 10 minute NFL Live thing where they have some guys talk about what happened that week and their predictions for next week and the highlights with Berman at the end and spotlights on players of the week and probowl voting maybe.

NBA live is doing it. On their message boards you give ideas to make the game better. they are on the verge of not being the best selling NBA franchise of all time. GO NBA 2K8!

they did that in NFL2K5... it was actually really cool and fairly well done... had higlights of all the games and everything

it sucked to throw the ball in 1st person mode.

i know it had its flaws... cause you basically had to trust he was open and know the route so you could throw it... and you couldnt see beside you which led to alot of sacks... they had those red things on the side to indicate pressure, it had a lot of flaws but it was fun to do cause it brought to the nfl level.. it was cool and it could be amzing IMO

Madden really does need to re-do it's animations... even for next-gen. The players still look to cartoony...given the power of these consoles...it could be soooooo much better than it is.

Well usually when a quarterback drops back he can move his head side to side relatively quick. If you're playing on a computer game there's no real way to do that except for like a virtual reality thing or maybe even Wii.

I personally like Michaels better. It seems like play-by-play announcers are more likeable than color guys. Madden pisses the hell out of me. So does Joe Morgan on Sunday Night Baseball. Again, Joe Theismann, is awesome.
