Does anyone else watch this show religiously? I love it. It's just so interesting. I learn a lot every time I watch it. There are new episodes coming out sometime next week I think. Can't wait.

This show is probably in my top 5 of shows on T.V. right now. The english guy is my favorite. It may seem kind of boring for first time viewers, but eventually it becomes really fascinating.

Everything Bear grylls does is planed out/scripted with the camra men, half the crap he tells people they can do is seasonal, and most the time its not even the right time period when hes there, and he has no respect for the environments he tramples through.

How is it scripted? Was the episode in Alaska scripted when his boat sank in the middle of an iceberg filled ocean? As for Bear " having no respect for the environment". You're damaging the environment more by sitting on your computer and watching TV with the lights on than he does during his show.

Survivor Man seems more authentic in my mind. Some of the camera angles and other things on Man vs. Wild just seem fishy, not to say it couldn't be extremely well planned but I don't ever get that vibe from Survivor Man.

Survivorman beats the crap out of Man vs Wild
Stroud gets left out in the middle of nowhere by himself, no camera guys or anything. Plus he actually reinacts crisis situations - one episode I watched him take a canoe out in the middle of nowhere and purposely crash it and he got all wet in a cold environment. He is badass, whenever you see a camera shot of him walking away or something he has to walk all the way back and pick up the camera after.
Bear Grill or whatever is kind of a ***** cuz he always has people around to help him and I've even seen him wearing a lifejacket during some shots...

the main difference in survivorman and man v. wild is that bear has to actually get OUT of where ever he is, while Les just has to survive for 7 days in one place. much harder to conserve energy, food, resources, etc, when you're on the move the entire day. the only time i've ever noticed something where i was sort of  was when he crossed that ravine on those two ropes and flipped upside down and had the harness on the ropes. i'm sure if you were a climber you'd have that sort of thing, but a hiker trying to get out wouldn't hardly EVER carry climbing harnesses with them unless they knew they had to get up some steep mountain at some point. I enjoy Man v. Wild more than Survivorman, but as with all shows, it's obviously subjective to the viewer. I think they're both well done and they both serve their purpose well.

Bear is more hardcore, no doubt about that. It's just that some shots seem fishy. Like one he was soaking wet and climbed up the shore and when he crested it he was dry. Normally that stuff doesn't bother me but on that show it makes me wonder.
It was hardcore when he killed that rabbit with the stick.
Anyone see the survivorman where he was stranded at sea and found some small little island? That one was sweet, they actually had to come and make sure he was safe during some crazy storm.

Bear jumped in sub zero waters to show you how to get out if you fall through ice. Also you can see he jumps into quicksand in the new season. Camera man has no bearing on the show at all, only time they can help Bear is if he's going to die. Did you see where he crossed the volcano and Bear got yards ahead of the camera guy because their feet were catching on fire? Survivor man brings like 15 items to survive, Bear typically gets flint and a knife and sometimes they don't even give him flint. the rope he has usually comes from his parachute because he jumps in on his sites. I've never seen the life jacket either, he sailed on a cheap Cast Away style raft w/ no vest and had sharks chilling underneath him...

He just shows how to get out of worst case scenarios, he's not saying you have to do that stuff to survive. But it's crazy that he goes around for days with only the stuff on him and no help from the crew. Next week's episode is in Scotland, and that's probably gonna be the best one of the season from what I've heard.

Five things I've learned from Bear Grylls:
1. Always bring "a knife, a water bottle, and flint" no matter where you're going. If possible, add parachute to that list.
2. To find north (or is it south?), point the hour hand of your watch to the sun, and halfway between that and 12 o'clock is north (I'd find a way to screw this up in a survival situation).
3. Whenever your sleeping in a survival situation, you are required to wake up in the middle of the night and affirm that you've heard something outside.
4. The best, "least painful" way to kill a snake is to grab it by the tail, swing it over your head, and smash its head on a rock. Throwing a rock at its head will also do the job.
5. Even the most "no way this works" tactics will get the job done. Examples include: squeezing out water from elephant feces to drink, building a makeshift bow and arrow to catch fish, catching rodents by tying a slip knot to a plant, and killing a rabbit with a "throwing stick."

Check this guy out on wikipedia, its very interesting. I love the show, i know its somewhat planned out but i love it. Bear Grylls is for real, he broke his back while he was in the special forces, he does all kinds of charity work, he was the youngest briton to climb everest, and many more things
