View Full Version : Why your team will/won't go to the superbowl

Ok, here's how this game works. The person to post next tells me why the Panthers
1) will go to the superbowl
2) won't go to the superbowl.
Then they post their team and the next to post does the same.
Only rule is, you cannot refute what people say about your team.

They will. They will because they are a strong team I dont like them on bit but I do not dis credit any oppurtunity of them making it to the superbowl.

they will because they have a great, young defense, and will be overlooked.
they won't because it appears their offense is still as bad as it was last year.

They will because they've always had a great QB and great WRs, they've improved in the offensive areas that were always strong
They won't because they lose players with experience in the defensive system, while they can be replaced it was the team chemistry that made that defense effective.

They will because Drew Stanton will hit Calvin Johnson and Roy Williams for many many TD's and the offense will carry the team.
They won't because, well.... it's the Lions, what do you expect?

They will because their D will improve with Spikes and Bunkley will stay healthy and play up to their potential, and McNabb will be healthy for once.
They won't because Matt McCoy and Sean Considine will log considerable PT.
Since my team is Philly, just use the San Diego Chargers

Won't. Too many question marks about the Bucs defense along with an old defense that has had too few injections of youth.
Will if their rookies play up to their potential, Chris Simms recovers from his injury 100%, and Michael Clayton lives up to his potential.
New Orleans Saints.

You needed to give a reason why they will
They will because Drew Brees is great and the defense improved through the draft.
They won't because the above is a lie and the defense still hasn't gotten much better.

They will because Alex Smith has weapons downfield in the passing game with newly acquired WR's Lelie and Jackson. And there secondary just got a whole lot nastier.
They won't because Clements is overrated and Banta-Cain will be a bust logging full play time. Plus, Smith is on his 3rd co-ordinator in 3 years.

Will because they're a young team on the rise, with a head coach that's willing to gamble for the win and a finally consistent running game.
Won't because their inexperience and lack of offensive production will leave them hunting for a Wild Card spot, which they may or may not get, and will leave them with a tough road to travel to Glendale even if they do get it.

Will- They do a great job of stopping the run and have a great run game. That is what you need to win games and champs
Won't- QB still is a problem and the WR's still haven't leaned how to catch and produce. To many hole with the air game. Secondary still needs some work.
Cleveland Browns

05-28-2007, 03:38 AM
Will-because they have a young and under rated defense(Wimbley, Davis, Jones, Wright)
Won't- because the offense needs some time to click & a few players need to actually reach there potential
Arizona Cardinals
stl9erfan
05-28-2007, 03:39 AM
Browns will because the young D, including Kamerion Wimbley and new draft pick Eric Wright is going to take a big step forward.
They won't because the OL is going to be too young/unproven and Brady Quinn will be starting by midseason-- rookie QBs just face too steep of a learning curve.
ETA: oops, on the Cardinals then--
Will: Russ Grimm finally brings the toughness and discipline the OL needed to complement the talent of the skill position players.
Won't: Matt Leinart will be adjusting to a new offense that may not be best suited to his skill set and the defense will be in transition as well.
To keep things varied (since we've already done the 9ers): PITTSBURGH STEELERS

Will because Edge will regain his old form, and you will hear a lot of "Leinart to Boldin/Fitzgerald, TOUCHDOWN!"
Won't because A) They're the Cards. B) Despite having playmakers like Dansby and Wilson, they still lack a solid all-around defense.

Will Go:
Defense return all but 1 starter and maintains the top secondary. Young guys like ngata and landry will get even better. Running game is better with mcgahee. Recievers are maturing
Wont Go:
Loss of AD might be too much. Mcnair is losing his arm strength and our offense might stagger again

Will- if Schaub is as good as he is overhyped, Mario Williams actually gets some sacks, offensive line decides to block
wont- that offensive line cant block, not that good of a secondary
Buffalo Bills
stl9erfan
05-28-2007, 04:19 PM
Will: Because they've had two very good draft classes in a row. A young, talented secondary, and Poz to anchor the D. Marshawn should be a very good RB.
Won't: They're too young and inexperienced. They've got a solid core of players that could lead them there in a few years, but for now there's no way they're getting past the pats and jets in their own division.

Will -
Run Game - Willie Parker, Najeh Davenport, Kevan Barlow and Gary Russell/Carey Davis can form a very very tough team to hold on the run. Willie is pure speed, but he's gotten a lot stronger since his Sophmore season, and Will continue to do so. Najeh is quick and strong, he'll be a solid KR and could be a beast in Arians new Scheme. If Barlow is a solid Short Yardage Back, we're golden in the run game. I watched some Gary Russell and Carey Davis and they're both looking absolutely amazing at OTA's. Could be some mini-camp sleepers.
Passing Game - With Arians new offensive setup, you'll see Ben shine. He'll have a better lineup with Ward, Holmes and Wilson. Reid is healthy could take the 4th spot. as could Nate Washington. Dallas Baker is looking awesome in camp, as is Eric Fowler. Fowler has hands of Glue, good size, just lacks great speed. If he could run in the 4.4-4.5 range he'd be a monster.
Special Teams - No more 10-15 yard punts from us, we got Darth Veda. He'll give us an advantage in "hidden Yardage" Categories. Not to mention he hit's like a ton of bricks. Reid is healthy meaning an actual return specialist.
Coaching - Tomlin is young and very talented. He's very articulate and he's really getting his players to play better. Word has it the secondary is looking better than ever seen. (I'd agree). The Linebackers are looking quick and smooth. Our defensive coaching is still intact. With Tomlin taking the DB's and Timmons under his wing they're growing by leaps and bounds. LeBeau has 15-20 new plays designed with just Woodley and Timmons in mind (LeBeau is taking Woodley under his wing). Expect a much more ferocious defense now that Cowher isn't here to limit what LeBeau does.
Offense is a bit more shaken up with all new coaches, but Arians got his Short Yardage back and Gary Russell. They wanted an Indy Style offense, I forgot to mention Spaeth earlier, but he'll make an impact as a rook.
Won't -
Injuries - Last year Peezy, Clark, Troy, Hines, Ben, Haggans, James Harrison all missed significant playing time. If we lose a bunch of key guys for a bunch of games this season, that'll be difficult to overcome.
Lack of depth - we're still thin at OLB. Thats about the only position with depth concerns. Harrison, Timmons, Woodley and Haggans... then there's 2 UDFA's in Arnold Harrison and Marcello Church.
