I'm interesting in getting a HDTV and was wondering if anyone knows anything about them. I'm looking for something in the 26-32 inch range, price is probably a $600 max.
Here are two I'm looking at.

W/o the DVD player. $400
http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Element-26-LCD-HDTV-FLX-2610/sem/rpsm/oid/175548/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do
Same price as the other one.
Any info is appreciated.

In that price range you'll have to drop down below Panasonic and the rest of the big dogs. I have a Panasonic and a Samsung in my house and both are awesome. In fact there are a couple of Samsungs which are right at $600 on this link. Both are 30 inch monitors.

Btw, once you go HD, you never go back. It's a much better picture, the difference b/w HD and analog is incredible. It makes analog look like a home video. Makes watching sports so much more enjoyable.

You might want to try going down to the store and see what they have open box. I bought this TV (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7600955&type=product&id=1130981752759&ref=06&loc=01) from Best Buy open box for like $375 and got a $150 gift card with it for buying open box. Then they went ahead and screwed up and gave me one that was brand new, in the box.
It's a pretty solid TV, too. I've been very happy with it. The only thing that sucks is that it is heavy and bulky...

True to that. I cant stand watching ESPN without HD. Its just a terrible picture. I wish i could get ABC HD for when they have sports because the picture is very blurry.

You don't have ABC HD yet? Do you have cable or satellite?
go with a Samsung, they are the best LCD's
Aquos is the best, or the Bravia.

If you're looking for the most bang for your (rather cheap) buck, Polaroid is the way to go. I'd stray away from some of those lesser names.

I ended up getting this one. Got the 2nd to last one so kinda rushed the decision. Happy so far.

ABC's normal view is really bad. I keep asking myself why it's so messed up whenever I watch it. Watching it on HD is the epitome of "night and day."

not in the $600 price range they aren't. Plus the Bravia isn't even close to the Sony XSRD

I have a Sony 42in.(?) LCD.
So amazing....
Good thing my parents got that Sports package in with the cable when we got it. (comcast btw) NFLN is moving there and it costs extra to buy.

If you are going to play video games on said tv, you should look at DLP TV's since there is no burn in.

That's what mommy is for ;)
I'm going to wait until September/October time to get an HDTV.. maybe some of the 1080p HDTV's will drop into my price range.
Couple questions::
-LED LCD HDTV's.. What would be the benefit of getting one of those over a 'regular' LCD HDTV?
-And what's this I hear about SED and OLED HDTV's?

Give it a couple years. Honest. They're going to be coming out with a new type of HDTV really soon and that will make the LCD and plasma TVs a LOT more affordable.

It's rarely a good idea to wait for technology to come down in price. It advances at such a rapid rate that there's always "the next best thing" coming down the pipeline.

Haha, yep. We got our first DVD player from Raley's (hahaha) for $99. It sucked so bad, but it could play DVDs and that's all that mattered.

My dad won a 42 inch JVC with an built in Tuner, and i'm looking at an open box 37 inch JVC with an built in tuner for $999.50. If i was looking for an HDTV, i wouldn't get one with a DVD player in it and look for one with a Built in turner so you can pick up free HD channels, JVC and LG almost all of there have it. Also if you don't want one with a tuner, a tuner is about $400 separate, you could go with an Sharp they do 1080 IP and look great, but IMO JVC make the best all around TV.
The one i'm looking at (http://hdtvmagazine.com/equipment/model.php?man=JVC&model=LT37X887)
Good review on it (http://www.hometheatermag.com/lcds/1106jvclt37x987/)

great place to go on-line that i've never had any problems with is newegg.com. its a great website and i always end up spending less money than i would walking into a store. just something to look at if you are looking. they have everything electronic by the way, not just TV's.
