View Full Version : anyone think Lil Romeo will become a key contributor for USC?

he is a Rivals 2 star recruit and anyone who has seen him play knows he actually does have skills. So did Master P, he was a very good player. Pretty impressive to get offered by USC during his junior year

anyone thinks he can become a solid player at the d1 level?

LOS ANGELES - Lil' Romeo says he's bound for Southern California, where if all goes according to plan, he could be Romeo Miller, Trojans' basketball player.

The teenage hip-hop star, a high school junior, has committed to play basketball for the Trojans, Dave Lindsay, a spokesman for Lil' Romeo's online label, UrbanDigital Records, said Friday.

USC spokesman Dave Tuttle declined to confirm or deny the report, but said the university hasn't received a signed letter of intent from the rapper, who is just a high school junior.

"We can't comment on any recruits or potential recruits until we have a signed letter. That's an NCAA rule," Tuttle said.

Lil' Romeo, whose full name is Percy Romeo Miller, is currently a guard on his Beverly Hills High School team.

"Basketball has run in the family," Lindsay said, noting the rapper's father, hip-hop mogul Master P, had tryouts with two NBA teams in the 1990s.

"In the future, I want to be an NBA player. That's my goal," Lil' Romeo told The Associated Press in a 2003 interview.

At the time he was 14 and just 5-foot-6. He acknowledged then that his goal might go unrealized if he didn't add another 12 inches of height.

He's 17 now and 6-1, a little more than halfway toward that goal.

2 star recruits are normally role players & such, maybe if all of his time is dedicated to basketball now he could become better

I think hes only a 2 star player because hes a JR. That could probably change. I watched a show about him playing basketball a couple years back. It said he was the number 1 player at some huge youth camp so I am sure he has some kind of game. This could also probably be a sort of novelty act.

Yeah I remember too that he was ranked as the number 1 player at some camp. I really do want to know how many schools have offered him or was SC the only noteworthy offer

Maybe the other schools are waiting until he's a Senior.

since he is a solid verbal to SC and has his mind set on playing there i think teams that may have been recruiting him will back off. We may not ever know who were the big time teams that would have offered him

There was a thread with this a couple months ago with multiple pages. So no new information here. However, I do not believe he will have a large impact on this USC team.

No. I didnt even play basketball in HS.

But if I did and my dad was a famous rapper, I bet I would be well above 2 stars.

everybody that says they saw romeo play says hes garbage, they said the only reason USC signed Romeo is becase he is best friends with one of the top players in the nation (I forgot his name) and possibly USC is doing this for publicity

i think he will get playing time if he signs contract for usc or w.e... never seen him play but if hes 2 star now, imagine what hell be his senior year of college (in about 5 yrs)

I actually had a chance to watch him play in high school, and trust me he was nothing special. He was getting schooled by some short white kid so I wasn't too impressed.
