  • Best NFL 3-4 Defense built of draft prospects

Comprise your best front 7 line up using draft prospects for a 1 Gap and 2 Gap scheme.

  • #2
    DE DeMario Pressley, NC State
    NT Glen Dorsey, LSU
    DE Sedrick Ellis, USC

    OLB Derrick Harvey, Florida
    ILB James Laurinitis, Ohio State
    ILB Ray Maualaga, USC
    OLB Quentin Groves, Auburn

I know that Dorsey isn't NT size right now but he isn't far from it and with his frame he could easily carry the extra weight

        RE: Chris Long
        NT: B.J. Raji
        LE: DeMario Pressley

        WLB: Vernon Gholston
        ILB: Jasper Brinkley
        ILB: Vince Hall
        SLB: Brian Cushing

Not too happy about plugging Pressley into this scheme, but he could probably pull it off.

            DE- Dre Moore
            NT- Terrance Taylor
            DE- Chris Long/Tyson Jackson
            OLB- Quentin Groves
            ILB- Jonathan Goff
            ILB- Dan Connor
            OLB- Vernon Gholston/Shawn Crable

It's a bit iffy. If Long really is in the 260s I'd prefer Jackson there. Gholston/Crable depends on if you want more of a pass rusher or more of a balanced guy. I like Connor's blitzing ability inside. Goff is me being a bit of a homer/fan boy and not liking what I've seen from Rey and Brinkley this year.

            That is correct comahan
            I ******* LOVE YOU DG

I don't really like DeMario Pressley in a 3-4 as an end. He is a penetrator from the UT spot, and he could maybe play nose in a 4-3. His best fit is a tampa 2 so he can use his athleticism, quickness, and skills at getting to the QB to his benefit. He does have prototypical size for the 3-4 as an end I just like him as a DT in a 4-3 the best.

              LE-Dre Moore
              NT-B.J. Raji
              RE-Chris Long
              SOLB-Shawn Crable
              SILB-Jonathan Goff
              WILB-Dan Connor
              WOLB-Derrick Harvey

Thats what I thought about Darnell Dockett before this season, but he has been dominated everyone from that position.

                  NT- Glenn Dorsey (adds 15lbs)
                  RE- Tyson Jackson
Utility man- Dre Moore (i think he can do both DE and NT in the 3-4)

                  WOLB- Quentin Groves
                  WILB- Jonathon Goff
                  SILB- Jasper Brinkley

Thats a 60 sack front seven right there....

I would kill for that to be my front seven. Talk about a young and talented squad. I think all four of those LBs will be pro bowlers in the NFL.

Do Gholston and Groves have the range to play LB? Can they drop back in coverage and cover TEs or RBs? I have my doubts.

                            Here's my shot:

                            1 gap 3-4 scheme

                            DE Tyson Jackson
                            NT Glenn Dorsey
                            DE Chris Long

                            2 gap 3-4 scheme

                            DE Myron Pryor
                            NT Terence Taylor
                            DE Roy Miller

                            LBs

                            WOLB Shawn Crable
                            WILB James Laurinaitis
                            SILB Rey Maualuga

I am as big of OSU fan as any (i go there) and i love Laurinaitis, but i really don't see him suitable in the 34 unless you got a super stud NT ala Jamal Williams. He is great in coverage and a good blizter, but he still struggles to get of blocks and through trash and really isn't the downhill guy some may think. Like i said, he could do it as long as he had monster DL in front, but him vs OGs = swallowed up.
