  • Matt Flynn - What Are His Chances?

The man was the MVP of the National Championship game. He looked like a really good QB in championship. Does he have a chance to be drafted? I know Chris Leak didn't get drafted last year because he was 5'11", but Matt looks very tall and has the prototypical height/size of a pro-style QB.

Dare I say early 2nd day (I'm guessing 4th round)? Is this the general feeling of draft gurus or am I just way off?

I personally think that if he does well at the Combine he can go late 3rd round.

Thanks to darnik44two for the sig

I never saw him as much of a NFL prospect, his stats are a bit misleading since several of his TD's came in OT. He only started 1 year and wasn't able to stay healthy. His best game of the year was agianst OSU.

I think 5th/6th is more likely, with a chance at 4th if all things go well and someone likes him. Just too many QB's likely to be bunched up from the 2nd-4th right now.

5th/6th rounder at best will be a backup QB for his NFL career

Billy Volek type QB; he can be dependable in spot appearances, but not someone you want to hang your hat on for an extended period of time

I'd say Chad Henne is more the Billy Volek type, as Volek likes to throw the deep ball, Flynn is probably a career back up, good character/leadership type of guy, 5th round earliest as of right now

I see him as nothing more than a poor man's Matt Mauck, which is saying a lot as Mauck was a 7th round pick (although he would've probably gone considerably higher had it not been for the concerns about his commitment to playing football). Even as a huge LSU fan, I'm certainly no fan of Matt Flynn. My forecast: late Day 2 pick and a career nobody.

I had to bump this. Can't say I disagree with what everyone said about Flynn at the time.

There is 0 analysis in this thread lol.

Just a couple of round-range guesses and baseless comparisons with very little reasoning or actual scouting.

We all have our misses. Even professional scouts do (i.e. Tom Brady). He's a good QB that, put under the right situations, could become a great starter. Someone will probably trade a first round pick for him next year.
