...on why it is ridiculously tough to draft a QB with any accuracy.

NFL just killed it. Haven't seen analysis like that on ESPN in years...NFLN just broke down why QBs are just above and beyond tough to evaluate and how QB success is about more than triangle numbers...its about something unquantifiable and its about the players around him.

QBs do not succeed without the pieces around them and that unquantifiable "gut" that they have. Its nice and all to be able to "make all of the throws" and "throw out of the pocket" and do all of these quantifable things, but when it comes down to it, QBs are defined and seperate themselves with those unquantifiable measurables that you can't see on tape, can't get from going through the pre-draft motion...its unprojectable. Some guys have it, most guys don't, and its something you can't quite predict.

Couple that with those players around him and that is how you get a successful QB, its with the abstracts that we use come draft time, like leadership, guts, moxxy, etc...not forty time and rocket arms.

    Remember that, folks.

Which is why everyone thought that Russell had very good accuracy in college, and yet people cite inaccuracy as one of his biggest flaws on the field (people say he has even bigger flaws off the field though).

      Oldie but a goodie.

I for one can say that I like Stafford more then Russell in the aspect of who will succeed more in the league.

Russell's comp % in college was even more fixed than Colt McCoy's 70+% was last year. The LSU game plan that season was basically swing pass x10, short route x5, screen/flare x5, 60 yard long bomb downfield x1

That couldve been quantifiable if someone took the time to measure difficulty of passes
