  • Most accurate 2009 Draft Mock Draft

The most accurate was.........NFL Network's Mike Mayock.

The article is on Yahoo!, but I'll summarize it quickly here.

1 point is awarded for every right pick, and 0.5 is awarded for having right player at wrong pick.

    1. Mike Mayock, NFL Network: 10/32
    2. Mel Kiper, ESPN: 8.5/32
    2. The Big Lead: 8.5/32
    2. National Football Post: 8.5/32
    5. Rick Gosselin, Dallas Morning News: 8/32
    6. Don Banks, Sports Illustrated: 7/32
    6. San Diego Union-Tribune: 7/32
    6. Shawn Zobel, DraftHeadquarters.com: 7/32
    9. Todd McShay: 6/32
    10. Peter King, Sports Illustrated: 5.5/32

    http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shu...urn=nfl,159517

In comparison, Scott Wright got the following picks right:

    1. Detroit - Matthew Stafford
    2. St. Louis - Jason Smith
    3. Kansas City - Tyson Jackson
    6. Cincinnati - Andre Smith
    14. New Orleans - Malcolm Jenkins
    15. Houston - Brian Cushing
    18. Denver - Robert Ayers
    23. New England - Darius Butler (0.5 with the aforementioned rule)
    31. Arizona - Chris "Beanie" Wells

That's 8.5/32, which puts him right up there with Mel Kiper, The Big Lead, and National Football post at #2.

    Scott also got these picks:

    45. New York Giants - Clint Sintim
    46. Denver - Alphonso Smith (0.5)
    61. Indianapolis - Fili Moala (0.5)
    69. Dallas - Stephen McGee (0.5)
    87. Miami - Sean Smith (0.5)
    96. Pittsburgh - Mike Wallace (0.5)
    100. New York Giants - Ramses Barden (0.5)

That's an extremely well done job, Scott! You truly know what you're doing here. Not everyone has the privilege of being up there with Mel Kiper and the gang.

    Props to clover_jeez!

I highlighted all the right picks, regardless of #, but there are some I got that were at the right pick, but wrong team (E.g. Josh Freeman, Jeremy Maclin)

For as well as I did though, I am still dissapointed. I wanted it to be better and it would have been if I didn't get cute. I tried to go a little unconventional with some picks. I'm still not sure why I mixed up the Raji and Monroe picks, I think it was because there was a rumored trade involving the Pats trying to move into the Top 10 and I figured that was the most likely spot. For Buffalo, I knew they were seriously interested in taking a DE, but I also took into account that they probably figured that Oher would already be gone. I was astonished to see them pass on Oher, AND Orakpo for that matter, in favor of Maybin. The pick that bums me out the most would probably be the Houston Pick though. I had been mocking the USC backers (Cushing and Matthews) to the Texans for quite some time, but thought I would throw a surprise in there and have them pick the big back in Wells to complement Slaton. In all fairness though, I thought the signing of Cato June and emergence of Zach Diles last season mean something. I guess I thought wrong.

Oh well, you can't win 'em all... but I did get this one! :)

Yup, I just wish he would have put out a 2nd round, because I would have crushed that as well! :)

Sadly, most of the picks I got right in the 2nd were the Pats' picks. I am ashamed. :(

Nolan Nawrocki of Pro Football Weekly apparently got 14/32, so he'd take the win. He had 15 players matched up with their teams.

I was gonna say Gosselin usually wins this, so he is slipping a bit. Boy McShay sure is making ESPN look stupid.

Personally, I only judge people on how many 1st rounders they predicted overall. Picking the team is almost shear luck with very little skill involved.
                      And proud of it!!!

it depends on the scoring system

in the huddle report contest McShay beat everyone

scott did well in both formats, well done!
