  • JPP Declares for Draft

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/draft1...ory?id=4802385

South Florida junior defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul will skip his senior season and enter the NFL draft after just one year of playing major college football.

"It was a tough decision for him, but in the end he thought he had nothing to lose," said his sister, Nadia Pierre-Paul. "When you have this kind of opportunity, you have to take it."

Pierre-Paul, who did not arrive on South Florida's campus from junior college until late August, has been projected as a potential first-round pick. He is admittedly raw but has worlds of potential with his athletic 6-foot-6, 260-pound frame.

Pierre-Paul overshadowed his more famous Bulls teammate, George Selvie, this season. He led the team with 6.5 sacks, 16.5 tackles for loss and six quarterback hurries. He also has an interception, two forced fumbles and a blocked kick.

He did not even play football until the playoffs of his junior year of high school.

"Jason never thought this would happen to him so soon," Nadia Pierre-Paul said. "He's very excited that he's made it this far."

He saw what happened to George Selvie's stock and said to himself... I'm not that stupid.

Yup, he's the one who traveled farthest and did more backflips.

Cool clip. What's more impressive? A bagillion backflips by JPP or Jarron Gilbert jumping completely out of a pool? Cause that Gilbert clip was pretty badass! :D

1 year of high school...came early out of college...raw athleticism...incredibly fast rise in draft stock...I don't know enough about him as a prospect but he is setting off Bust warnings everywhere. I always approve of more pass rushers entering the NFL though.

I never really got to see the kid play, but what's the deal here? He has size, but his numbers don't appear that impressive. Especially since he was playing opposite of Selvie.

Well, those are back hand springs but I digress.

It was more impressive when he did a standing backflip in full uniform right before their bowl game. Can't find video.

Agreed. A lot to like, but even more not to like about him.
